The Bobbi’s Pole Ultimatum is the advanced one with twisted grip combos 😉

Hi girls! Bobbi’s was my first pole home (2005-06) and where I got seriously hooked! I’ve trained at many other Aussie studios since and Bobbi’s is definitely one-of-a-kind! They are seriously and unashamedly Sexxxxy! All the girls wear hot pants that aren’t much bigger than g-strings and stilettos to class. When i trained there, the moves were not necessarily so much about technical difficulty as about beautiful lines and flowing combos. The poles are 38mm spinners and twisted grip was used for many advanced moves (even shoulder mount) which adds to that effortless effect. Head rolls, body rolls, splits and high kicks rule at Bobbi’s!

Actually, I am hearing more and more that short, intense bouts of exercise are more effective at fat-burning than long, slower cardio sessions (much more fun too :)) Instead of "30 min/day" think more in terms of how long over a week — you will see all those little bits add up! The thing about making exercise sustainable is making it fit into your lifestyle, so that you will keep it up. Many of us can't afford a full hour every day, so half an hour is great! Plus it's plenty of time to work on new moves or get a sweat up, if you train smart and don't fluff around 😉 I personally think 10 min of abs daily is enough. I do feel stretching does take a little more time to be effective. Instead of doing a short, full body stretch every day, maybe you could incoporate longer sessions on each area — eg. front splits, middle splits, back — but rotate them through the week? I have been doing this and found my flexibility gains to be better than trying to squeeze them all in every day. xx

I have a pair of Pole Fit Brazil Shorts and Spider Back Top, both size S, to sell if anyone's interested (I'm in Australia) They are unworn as I ordered the wrong size 🙁 Anyone ordering from Bad Kitty — go up a size, they are teeny!

I find knee hold easier to lock into from a shoulder mount, then hook outside knee, pulling up as bring lower knee into position.

Ps -/ tips/technique for unhooked knee hold wld b awesome!! 🙂

Just a thought that maybe you are struggling to get grip because ur skin is dry? Do you moisturise night before poling? Or use something like ? You have mastered some advanced moves but most of the ones you have stated as problems seem to rely on a good grip — CAR, no-hands scorpio, Superman. 🙂

My chrome x-pole is still super slippery….after 2 plus years!!
Only thing that really works is rubbing pole with small amount of itac 2 grip right before training. Makes it really sticky — sometimes too much so! I don’t use itac on my hands as it can go slick. I have also used , which helps but it hasnt been quite the perfect solution I was hoping for! On a side note, is a body grip, do u spray it for example on ur tummy and thighs and behind the knees. It is not recommended for the hands 🙂

Classic White Stripes …. how many girls were inspired to start pole dancing after seeing Kate Moss in this? 🙂 Actually the first spin I learned was called "the Kate Moss". (It's a basic step-around/squat and pirouette)

Oh — and yes of course Veena would have rocked this!! 🙂

Thanks Veena!! I have wanted ur lessons for ages now, but I couldn't load the samples on the home page, so didn't want to subscribe in case there was some tech issues. Now that I can see this, I know that it will work for me, AND they're awesome!! (kinda figured that already tho) I'm going to get onto this! 🙂

Yep, the tape really works!! It does come off after a while so u need to do it with each practise (or I did — I do drag my feet a lot though) It's so worth it 🙂

Hmmm….tough one — there's so many inspirational performers out there!! Idols??

I really can't go past Karol Helms. I have followed her on YT since she was a little-known club dancer who was struggling to get her splits, just like so many of us! Of course she is absolutely gorgeous to watch and SO skilled, but there remains something accessible about her style.

Also love Oona — she is so unique and completely breath-taking. I love the gymnastics influence, the way she "presents".

At the moment I am also totally loving Hsiang who I think is going to rock it! Shadskyball on YT or she also has vids on Veena.

Oh, and how could I forget Jenyne??!?! Her Pussycatdolls routine, I think from LA Pole Show 2010, was my fav.

I used to dance and know girls who dance now, and yep we definitely did our tricks! But when you're dancing 15 min stage sets, for 8 hours, obviously you have to pace yourself and can't bust out non-stop aerial antics all night!!

But the truth is most men don't really appreciate it, as some others have said they tip more when you're up-close-and-personal, not huffing and puffing somewhere up near the ceiling, your hair and make-up getting ruined as you try to pull off some amazing trick!

Also thought I'd add that from my experience, the female "customers" were often the nasty ones who were basically there to judge you, thinking (or worse, telling you!) they were prettier/thinner/could dance better, and understandably also maybe feeling threatened because their guy's attention was diverted to other naked women! Plus, to be blunt, couples were usually just there for a novelty and didn't really spend $$$.

Not saying you're like this, Nymphdancer, but maybe the dancer at your local club has been treated this way by others, so now she is guarded towards other women?

Hope this doesn't come across as rude! I have a lot of respect for strippers, it's a tough job and it is also one place our art originated and I think we should celebrate that! 🙂

Ok so I finally bought a stud finder and discovered the pole had actually been just next to a beam! Oops!! Thanks for the tips, I bought some foam for extra padding and def have it centered over the beam now!! Yay, can’t wait to be pole-ing at home again!! Just hope landlord doesn’t look up during inspection 😉

I didn’t use a stud finder, but my dad was here helping put it up, and he looked in the roof to find it. Still, he had to check in the garage which is next to the lounge room where the pole was, so maybe the beams didn’t line up? Or he could have tightened it too much? I’m thinking of buying a joist finder and putting it up in another room, making sure it’s over the beam and doing it myself so I know it’s not too tight! Aarrgh
