My worst fall (so far) was while practicing Star. I tried it with my ballet slippers on and got up all right. One foot on pole, one hand on pole, starting to push hips forward and arching my back when my lower foot slid back. I still held on with my hand and knee so I banged my rips in the pole and lost my breath for a while.

Lesson: do not do Star with ballet slippers.

I also fell the first time I managed the Advanced plank but that was because I got so happy I got it that I forgot to hold on 🙂

Hi all! Back from my adventures 🙂

I'¨ll try and make it tonight, depends on if my jetlag is better or not. I tend to be quite tired very soon.

I totally forgot, was too absorbed in my packing 🙂 Leaving for a few weeks so I won't be able to join you for a month.

    Be flexible!

I looked into pole dancing a few years ago, but due to circumstances and work I didn't start.

Last year was a rough for me, I was on sick leave most of the year due to stress and depression. As I felt better I had the need to try something new in my life, a new start and I read in a blogg about pole and thought "Hey, I wanted to try that". Next thing I know I was signed up to a class and now I love it 🙂

    *lol*

A lot of fun can be had with this, I started to laugh 🙂 Hehe 😉

But it does look weird in posts, with all the started, care, cares, tried to put my pole up, "the pole splits in half when I…" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

I just noticed. I guess it is to show the moves that are spoken of, but it is a bit weird when it linkes out of context, like "Take care" or "I want to be a star!"

I agree with everything written and I know exactly how you feel. I often compare myself with other, more in the past than now, and even though it is hard no to it leads to nothing good.

Just try to remember that you do this for you, not for anyone else. A pole at home is the best thing you can do, then you can practise and play around without anyone else to compare yourself to. And going to the studio to practise inbetween classes is great! And don't feel bad because the teachers don't approach you, they never approach me at my studio either 😛

Maybe taking a different class than your friend would help too…

Don't give up, one day you will nail the invert and the pride you feel when you do it is priceless.

I agree with StellarMotion, the dance is in everything. Doing tricks is one thing, dancing them is another. Being able to link them together on the pole and with floorwork is pole dancing. Otherwise it's just pole tricks and that might be impressive but not that captivating to watch as a show.

Sorry, can't make it either. I'm going to a candle party with my mom 🙂

Hopefully I'll make it next week!

I'm sure you don't have to quite because of bruises 🙂

I do moves even if I have bruises there, either that or I'll never get to do anything 😛 I also eat thyroid pills, had my thyroid gland removed a few years back. Never thought of a connection.. Iäll ask my doctor when I see her the next time 🙂

I bruise badly and I am into my fifth month. I guess some bruise more easily, I get bruises from everything, not only poleing, while a girl in my pole class barely gets red.

If you worry go and get your vitals checked, but some are more prone to bruising than others.

There are actually stretches that you do cold. I've gotten homework from my stretch teacher that I shall do cold, and she knows what she talks about.

Of course, these are not stretches where I take it to the limit, but sometimes it is legit to stretch cold.

Not really a launch, but yesterday I did the advanced plank for the first time and while I rejoiced I failed to think of a way out and fell on my bum. Not that high up though so no harm done.

Then I tried the star again and it went well until I started to revolve and spun out of my hand grip and crashed hard. I expected bruises from that one but haven't found any.

Well, I just had to try the new torture and I agree with Amaranth: my back hates me 😉 But not as bad as I thought it would, a very useful tort.. erm exercise 🙂

Hammie feels much better, should be able to join in next week!

We have done something similar in stretch class, but with a buddy sitting on your hams and grabbing your hands, pulling slightly. Torture… I might try the pole grab thing if my chest stops hurting soon.
