Another option to try is poling via Skype. I’ve done it with a few SV ladies and it went well. I also learned my knee hold via Skype awhile back.

@Stefana – Glad to hear they worked out for you. Once your toes loosen up a bit, you might want to try the broken toe yoga pose (I think that’s the name of it). It’s the pose where you sit on your knees and then sit down on your heels while your toes are pointed towards the floor. The idea is that you bend your toes and sit in that position. Not sure if I’m explaining it correctly…maybe someone else can chim in. Anyways, it’s painful at first, but it makes a huge difference. Good luck!

I have a pair of yoga toes. I bought them years ago when my toes were so tight I couldn’t spread them. At first, it was a bit painful so I only wore them for a few minutes at a time. But, once I got used to them I was able to wear them longer. It felt good to get the blood circulating in my toes.

@Lucca I think you looked awesome. I’m soooo tight in my shoulders that I have a hard time wrapping myself around the pole. More to work on!

Lots of cool moves in this thread. What’s your favorite move that you saw on Instagram that you’ve mastered (or at least are really close 😉 I’ve picked out quite a few that I’d like to try, but I haven’t started yet.

LMAO!!!! All this time I thought Instagram was only a mobile app so I’ve been trying to paste from Instagram to Pinterest on my mobile phone. Now that I’ve figured out that I can access Instagram online, it’s all good. I know what I’m doing during lunch today! @AllysonKendal thanks so much for your patience 🙂

okay, I’m new to Pinterest too… Lol! So, how do I get an Instagram video to my Pinterest? yep, I need step by step instructions!
-
I normally paste using the Ctrl V function. But I’ve noticed on my android phone there is no control key… Lol!

I’m new to Instagram and watched a few of these vids and love them! I know how to copy the link by clicking on the… However, how do I paste it elsewhere when using my phone? Hopefully someone can guide me so that I can learn some of these moves! Thanks ladies.

Wow. I really enjoyed this thread. I’m not a huge fan of overtly sexual dance styles so it’s nice to see other styles here, especially since I’m struggling with trying to find my own style. Thanks ladies!

MemberApril 29, 2015 at 12:56 pm in reply to: Practicing more often, pain in lower shoulder bladesI used to have the same pain in my traps and under my shoulder blades. The key for me turned out to be conditioning and lot of stretching. I do some type of conditioning and stretching every morning that focuses on my back and my shoulders. The foam roller, Veena’s lessons and yoga are my friends. At one point, I thought I didn’t need the exercises anymore and I stopped. The pain returned (although not as intense) a few weeks later so now I’m back at it. The other thing to remember is that if you skip poling for a day and focus on yoga, conditioning or stretching, you’re still working on pole because these things will enable you to have pain free pole days. I’ve gathered a ton of exercises from various youtube vids, Veena’s lessons and yoga classes that I’ve attended. You can PM me if you want me to send you the links to everything I have. It really helps. Sometimes I get so into my morning sessions that they last an hour 😉

I’ve been doing yoga regularly for the past month and it’s made a huge difference. There’s a studio in my condo complex so it’s very convenient. I can also recommend doyogawithme.com. It’s totally FREE and they have some great routines. You can search for routines by body part (shoulders and hips are my favs) or by style, etc. Very good quality videos. I also have a Kino McGregor routine on CodyApp, which is another great way to do yoga at home or on the go. Enjoy your journey!

I think it helped too! My husband is an avid runner and when I spoke to him about it, he agreed that it was applicable to pole as well. After reading the article, I came up with a few ways to squelch my inner critic. Thanks for sharing!

Hello. I’m all ready for my trip! I arrive Monday at 11am and the conference doesn’t start until Tuesday morning. Are you free Monday afternoon? Can you PM me and I’ll respond with my cell number. Thanks!

Thanks Veena. Please extend my gratitude to Chris, the webmastah!

Squuueeeeee…this is going to be sooo fun!!!! I’ll be in touch once I solidify my flight. I’ve an old friend I want to see as well so I’m waiting for her to get back to me. BUT, I will definitely be there as I’ve already gotten my hotel and paid my conference fees. Polin’ with Veena….yes!!!

I’d love to! I didn’t realize you’d moved to SF. Are you near Union Square or at least BART close?

I have the Yoga Direct Pole Dance Crash Mat. It’s 5′. I don’t care for it that much. It’s very thick and bulky so I have a hard time walking on it when preparing to invert for more advanced moves. I’d sell if it someone in Chicago were interested and could pick it up.
-
Actually, I meant to say more advanced moves that don’t require as much flexibility (for those of us still working on it) or variations of current advanced moves that take into account polers who aren’t as flexible. Don’t know if that makes sense, but Veena has some awesome advanced lessons that I can’t do YET since I’m still working on my flexibility.

I agree with @Twilight Starr. I have had a membership for a few years now. Sometimes I use it often, and other times I don’t. In my mind, it really balances out because the cost is so reasonable. I’ve subscribed to other online pole sites and they don’t measure up to SV and cost twice the amount.
Webmaster, If you’re looking to add more to the site, I would say more advanced lessons. Veena did a video of a flag invert and it was very detailed and really helped.
-
Congrats on getting your invert! Take your time getting the Ayesha as it is more advanced. As for the inner thigh burn, there’s no way around it you just have to keep doing it until the pain goes away. Congrats again!

There are also a few vegan food delivery services. They package everything pre-measured and give you the recipe. The best part is that the rccipes take 30 minutes or less to make. thepurplecarrot.com is one and there are countless others.
-
I’ve the same challenges with finding new vegan dishes to make. Sites I use for recipes include veganricha.com, ohsheglows.com, and robinskey.com (raw recipes). Good luck!

I’ve poled in tight spaces as well. I used to use it as an excuse not to pole, but then I realized there were lots of things I could do. So, I started practicing different climbs and doing basic conditioning (pull ups, etc). Do what you can. Your body will benefit no matter what.
