Your X-joint could be stripped.  If it won't tighten at all, call Xpole and have them send you a new joint.

I love my TG 50mm!  I had one tiny mishap but it was user error from not thinking and working too fast but it was easily fixed luckily.  Just make sure you watch the video they have on assembly and go slow and pay attention.  😉

I posted a thread a while back on how to easily convert clips from .MOV to .WMV for free!  I'm sure it will come right up if you do a search.  😉

You're right; a comfortable invert is simply able to go upside down and hold with your legs (I think a lot on Veena call it a crucifix) so I think you'll be fine at the intermediate class.

Yahoo!!!  You will love Becca….she really is the sweetest thing and her knowledge is incredible.  If you have a move you're struggling with and have time, tell her cuz she's SO awesome about being able to identify where you're going wrong, breaks it down, and tells you what to do to fix it.  <3 her!

The videos are horribly catchy for me…so bad so that I lose patience and quit watching them.  Is there something I should do?  Pausing to allow it to load doesn't seem to help at all because it seems they can only be viewed in 'real time'??

Eating clean is about understanding how food relates to each other (carbs, protein, fiber, etc) and selecting whole, un-processed foods…

Yes, a lot of moves that are done with TG can be done with a regular split grip. The TG felt really odd and uncomfortable for me at first too but I got used to it quickly and now prefer it over alot of other grips!

Here’s an excerpt from the book I mention above.

"Cutting calories backfires. The more you cut, the more your body fights to hold onto
its fat stores as reducing calories signals the “starvation response” where the body tries
to “survive” and hold onto its calorie reservoir known as fat.” – Chris Aceto, author of “Everything you need to know about fat loss.”
    Diets Never Work
Let’s begin by defining the word “diet.” A “diet” is any severe restriction of food
or calories that’s temporary. Most conventional diet programs call for extremely low
calories: 800-1200 or less for women and 1500-1800 or less for men. Any time you
restrict calories drastically like this, you will lose weight. So if your only criteria for
success is weight loss, and you don’t care where the weight comes from, or how long it
stays off, then you could say that “all diets work.”

There are two major problems with this approach: First, the weight loss from very
low calorie dieting almost never lasts; 95% of the people who lose weight on
conventional diet programs can’t keep it off. The second problem is that most of the
weight you lose from low calorie dieting is muscle, not fat. If permanent fat loss without
losing muscle is your goal (it should be), then it would be closer to the truth to say “diets
    never work.”

    Worth thinking about. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I too remember when I couldn’t climb the dang pole. Took months to build up the strength to do it properly.
I remember when I couldn’t invert. I would swing up, grab the pole with my tippy toes and then fight/climb the rest of the way up. Oy vey.
I hope this time next year I will say "I remember when I couldn’t get the ayisha and now it’s soooo easy."

This is good info but it’s also important to remember that each body is different. A certain weight on two people of the same height may still produce two very different body builds since the weight comes from a combination of fat, bone, and muscle. Without considering a person’s fat percentage and other such numbers, this calorie calculator is likely to give incorrect numbers.
A good rule of thumb is to only eat when hungry (easier said than done…) and to avoid junky foods. Also, another thing that works well if you have the self control is to only eat until 80% full, since it takes the body some time to register the fullness. The exact number of calories we should be taking in is a pain in the butt to accurately determine. -Stacy

Watching calories is only a small piece of the losing weight pie. Knowing what your carb, protein, and fiber balances should be is very important for long-term permanent results. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

There’s a book I recommend called "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" by Tom Venuto that’s great for teaching you how to do just that the healthy and natural way.

Yeah, it sounds like you are burning through your muscle which is easy to do when you’re not eating and feeding your muscles properly. There’s a fabulous book called "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" and I highly recommend it. It’s NOT a gimmick or full of fad/quick fixes which don’t work (be sure to read the FAQ and about the author’s credentials). Although you aren’t necessarily looking to lose fat, you are looking to build muscle and this will teach you how to do that the healthy and natural way. It’s available here: http://www.burnthefat.com/

Eeek, I’m at a loss…have you tried getting it warm like you would with a jar’s lid that’s difficult to open/twist? Try wrapping a super hot towel around it and then twisting it off??? Just an idea to try… ??

Welcome!!! There’s a fabulous poler coming to the UK to do workshops and she will be doing a beginner class (no prior experience required) which might provide for a great opportunity to learn the foundations correctly, especially if you learn better in-person. Her name is Becca Butcher (do a google or youtube search to see some of her incredible videos) and she’s an incredible athlete, poler, and such a genuine kind person.

ETA: Oops, saw your comment on my thread so you’re aware she’s coming. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Hope you get the chance to meet her and learn from her.
