I run a website called PoleNation.com and we keep it updated regularly. It also allows for student reviews. Kinda like Yelp, but for pole studios only. Take a peek at http://www.PoleNation.com. Hope this helps you out. Let me know if I can help you further!

I just donated. Who's joining me???

For what it's worth: I vote for keeping your pole and think of it as making an investment in yourself. Once you get to aHawaii you can say to yourself "gee, I spent a lot of money on this pole: purchasing it and getting it here, so I better use it." You don't have to go all out every time you have a few minutes to yourself. Just keep your hands on her every so often and things will come back to you quickly.

Amy- you hit the nail on the head sister. Thank you for such a thorough answer.

Welcome to SV! If, as your name suggests, you are in Dallas for real, then I’m looking forward to meeting you at the Miss Texas Pole Dance competition this upcoming June as it will be in your fine city!

Thank you , thank you, thank you! ALL of you who remind me with posts of these rants as to why I live is Las Vegas! I’m b*tching about our 50 degree weather. Oops! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

I feel for you sister. I’ve been dancing for over a decade and am like a junkie sometimes, trying every new fad of grip aid that comes down the pike! What I have found works best for me is using a prescription strength antiperspirent on my palms at night, which I then wash off first thing in the morning. It won’t help you immediately, but will give relief long term, as I have found. I actually went to my MD and explained what I wanted and why. He’s a Sports Medicine specialist and was once the doctor for the Olympic Boxing Team. He approved of the idea and it’s kept me poling for many moons now. There are several prescription strength products out there now that you can just pick up at Walgreen’s. Keep twirling sister. We are all here to support you!

Lizbeth- I’m uploading a vid for you right now and I hope it helps and inspires you! I was challenged to make a vid with no show-off moves! No spins, inversions, trick or anything! The challenge was to just dance! I loved every minute of it! The ending is a bit sketchy, since I had never heard the song before, and I had no idea when the song was going to end! HA! I downloaded it at random as it was free! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I hope your poling journey continues to challenge you and encourages you to grow as a free spirit!

I have 39” hips (shhhhh!) and I love my Pole Skivvies. Not only have I been blessed with hips, I have "saddlebags" as well and my Pole Skivvies keep my bum in. I personally would like them lower cut in the rise, but word has it that the new line will be out by the New Year, and my prayers will be answered. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I think we all have some level of self-doubt at some point in life. When that little voice tries to plant those seeds let OUR voices be heard instead! My friend Jennifer of PoleSkivvies once said, "Get out of your head and dance with your heart." and I think truer words were never spoken! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I have met the most amazing women on my own pole journey, and am a better person because of ALL of them. Welcome!!!

Repetition, repetition, repetition! Practice floor moves at home. Ask your instructor to write down the moves she’d like to have you practice between classes, and make sure you do commit the time in your schedule to do it for yourself. When you have a few moments and you can’t actually get dancing, just visualize yourself doing the moves. Athletes of any discipline will tell you how important visualization is to their performance. What you’re trying to do is establish muscle memory. Be patient with yourself and all of a sudden BOOM! Things WILL flow. We are excite to see your post when it happens too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I agree with Megs comment. I think that in years to come the gals who were impatient with TG will see the ramifications later in life. Sometimes problems that manifest themselves in the elbow and shoulder come from issues that were wrist in origin. I’m no psychic, but I have been poling long enough to know that we don’t know the long term effects of improper technique with TG moves.

Veeners THANK YOU for all your support and kindness!! It was so nice for all of you to come up and say Hi! while I was at my vendor booth! So nice to put names and faces together! I thought the purple scarf/headband idea was great!! Let’s continue that idea for future events. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

This was a very rusty support for the palapa in Akumal, Mexico. I’m pretty sure the locals have never seen a pole dancer! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Just my 2 cents: I have a Platinum Stages and a Lil Mynx. While I am fine with both of these I love the PoleDanzer which I purchased for myself for Christmas. The spinning mechanism in the pole makes for excellent fluid motion in rotating. I’ve been teaching on PoleDanzer since then and it is still as fluid today as when I made the original purchase. That said, I cannot say that it is the same for either my LM or PS rotators. I found the rotating mechanism in my PS wore out much quicker than anything else. My students have had nothing but praise for the PoleDanzer poles as well. I’m not sure if you plan on using the pole for high volume, like I do, but regardless I think you want the best value for your money.

I worked in the clubs for about 13 years. Both in Portland Oregon, which is where I started, and here in Las Vegas. Two very different worlds! I’ve since retired to teaching, but I miss being in the clubs.
