Welcome to the site!! This place is BRILLIANT for help and tips and all things pole related!! You should come to chat today if you can! We all meet up and chat and get to know each other. Hope you enjoy pole dancing/fitness as much as the rest of us here. Unfortunately you will more than likely have to go through pole bruises, grazes, burns, etc. its all part of it. But the more you do it the easier it gets and there are lots of products around to reduce the effects of these. What you gonna do if Derm ain’t there? It’s a good idea to learn how to put the pole up and down, even if he does it the majority of the time. You never know. I dont think Veena meant specifically that the music has to be traditional Irish. Sometimes trad Irish is hard to pole dance to (although Veena does a fantastic job in her March Challenge vids! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif )

Im such a useless ‘girl’, I let Derm put up my pole everytime so I know diddly squat about putting it up/taking it down. The girls have given you plenty of advice though so you’re sorted!!

kerrirou you’re so funny! I giggled all the way through that post. What a conversation to have to have with your parents. My mother was like that too in the beginning and now she’s fine, she kinda laughs at the idea of me pole dancing for exercise but she’s passed the stage of being wary of it! I showed her some of the things I can do and she was like, ‘Wow!’ Anyway I suppose I dont live with her so she doesnt really have to deal with it on a daily basis! lol Your parents seem like fun! The best thing to do (if you’re comfortable doing it) is to showcase what you can do on the pole and wear the shoes and tell your dad the lights are only a bit of fun. All the points you made about posture are valid and I love Veena’s balance thing!!

Thats what my teacher helped me with. Not having an advanced class must be a pain in the ass but thats where the pole jams will be especially good for you cause you can get all the great people here to help you out!! jeng: My lower arm (for me its my left) wasnt low enough on the pole for me to be able to turn my body around, it was getting in my way. She got me to do an Apprentice (or Star Fish as its sometimes called) first to get my arm position right. I did that a couple of times. She also said that I needed to turn my body a little faster so I did and it worked. The only problem about moving chat is that on week nights your over seas members (me being only one of them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif ) might have time issues. Its ok to stay up late on a Fri nite cause I have no work the next day but a week night could pose problems. Yeah Im doing a sponsored pole to raise funds for the Special Olympics. I cant wait! There’s a few of us doing it in the gym I go to. The women who own the gym are actually doing a sponsored 8 hour fitness marathon that day. 1 hour is a poling hour so I volunteered for that. They’re also having a pole show case that day. There’s some really good pole dancers from the south east coming to show us what they can do.
