I got mine from Lowe’s (or maybe Home Depot?) and ended up getting a discount for a nick on the corner. But also Craigslist usually has a lot of listings if you’re open to the possibility of driving a farther distance. I just wish I would have thought more about where they actually had to go and have someone help hang them up bc they’ve been of little use to me leaning against the wall. Maybe if there is a large distance between the mirror and pole it would work leaning but I can’t see anything especially floorwork (just something to keep in mind since it can get pricey and they are heavier than they look)

MemberSeptember 25, 2014 at 4:29 pm in reply to: Is studio veena backed by X-Pole?I think good and bad is mentioned on here for both companies just based off people’s experiences…but I have read other on posts that xpole supports SV. The only reason I don’t purchase platinum is because Xpole accommodates different needs as far as height/location options without having to commit too much (like parts can be ordered if you need to move the pole and the current parts don’t work for the space). I would love a PS star standalone but can’t afford the price tag. As far as their customer service I can’t comment as I’ve only gone through xpole. I don’t at all care for xpole on the service level based on my experiences with them and seems like their website is always messed up plus missing things that should be in stock which is annoying. I love the lil mynx poles we use in our studio although we’ve had some issues with them lately (guess it’s just time to check up & adjust) but again can’t really comment on the service.

MemberSeptember 20, 2014 at 9:13 pm in reply to: SS Platinum Stages Pole or Chrome X-Pole?Me! How much and any issues/reason for selling? I’ve tried the PS Stand alone stainless and liked it but can’t comment as far as continued use. I looovvee lil mynx stainless but most people might not like having to install the perm mount. I think xpole is usually best for in home use just for the fact it has the dome that generally won’t damage your ceilings. I’ve tried the chrome xpole and it seemed ok although I’ve heard the chrome can chip eventually?? I have a brass xpole and hate it!! Cannot stick at all no matter what but I suppose that’s just body chemistry (dry skin for me). Interesting to hear that xpole stainless is slippy…I was considering that one but will think twice.

The Veena pole from what I remember looks way easy to switch between static and spinning even while during a routine I think *i do not have this pole though so not sure*

Hi xpole thanks for clarifying about the edges. None of the aerial products including SiLKii (or the pole away) show up on the US website so I guess just have to call for those type of things? From the image on the AUS site, at first looked like needed two separate pieces of fabric to attach (which I guess could be an option?) but at closer look I see the girl is only using one side for a one point contact. Does this mean you could potentially attach two sets of fabric (like for two people) or is it only there for a hammock/double point connection?
Not sure if anyone else is interested but from my observation….
Pole aria or fabpole don’t look to have this option for two sets (if that’s even possible with SiLKii).
Aria looks like it will be about $200+shipping (this includes the attachments and fabric) for my ceiling height (over 10′). Fabric is black medium stretch with no other options. Wondering what the width is of this fabric so I could switch between uses of silks>hammock.
Fabpole gives options with or without fabric plus custom colors for additional charge. Looks like about $10 shipping added in the drop box price. So comparing apples to apples could save about $35+shipping here (or use towards a fancy color). Also says non & medium stretch fabric but no option in the drop box to choose a preference. And wondering about fabric width.
SiLKii is $120+shipping according to AUS site so not sure if this is accurate for US. Either way does not include fabric so probably a higher cost overall although if it allows for two sets of fabric could be something to consider for people who perform as doubles. And would ensure the user has their preference of fabric stretch/non, width and color.
PoleSilks seems like the most expensive (although could be similar to SiLKii depending on your choices there). Also am not a fan of the logo drawing attention if performing for instance. There are a few color options though (all priced the same).
This is just my out loud though process that maybe can be helpful to someone else in the same boat…if anyone can confirm or advise it is much appreciated!

Silkii looks like only in Australia and only for x-stage. Although shouldn’t it be the same pole (not sure why it says only xstage)? I did see the others you mentioned l’rue…wondering if the metal ones might eventually cause damage to the pole and if the rubber piece is as sturdy as the metal options since it uses velcro to attach? Thanks!
-
Is there any benefit of using neoprene vs the metal attachment? And can both be used on xpole
-
What is the diff between fabpole, pole aria, and polesilks?
-
Polesilks.co.uk sells them but I think it’s only in UK….anyone know of US seller? I’ve been looking into these too and also wondering if it could convert into an aerial yoga hammock or if it’s too close to the pole for that to work well.

MemberSeptember 12, 2014 at 3:21 pm in reply to: Injured people: a very good websiteWow thanks for posting! I’m def trying that “Bermuda Triangle” area tonight….and all this time never considered that 4&5 would be related but makes sense! I only briefly read over the other areas but seems legit from pain I’ve experienced (not a medical professional whatsoever).

Lacrosse ball! Have this pain as well and that almost instantly releives it after I’m done.

@gatita fish oil is one of the best supplements for anyone to take for the health benefits although it won’t do much for weight loss on it’s own. It helps with brain function/cholesterol/bp/inflammation also skin/hair/nails but if you are looking for the weight loss aspect might be better to get this in the form of diet as in you’d be eating an extremely lean protein (fish) that would in turn be replacing a food option that’s not as “clean” and therefore notice weight loss by cutting out other “unclean” foods. You’d still get the same benefits of the supplement version if you eat enough of it during the week. CLA has shown to help reduce belly fat but again you won’t notice much (and especially not quickly) unless paired with the habit of healthy diet and regular exercise…that’s really what it all comes down to. PS I’m a vegetarian so I get these in the veg friendly version if I’m going to supplement 🙂

I have all those same popping issues and sickle feet! I try to think of starting with my pinky toe and making the rest follow individually until they are all together- sometimes this helps. And then I try to turn my leg out too depending on the angle.

I’m starting with the fit and bendy’s “bendy body” DVD and she also says to use muscle engagement like was mentioned above^

Be careful even though it seems like it may go away it could be related to tennis elbow/tendonitis/ecu basically forearms & wrists that need strength and healing. Even one “easy” or small pole trick could have irritated it and could get worse without care. If you start to notice a move that is the culprit I would immediately stop and try an alternative or at least something like a brace/wrap that gives stability. For me it is split grip which I now avoid at all cost no matter who tells me I “have” to use it bc you don’t “have” to do anything just listen to your body. There are a lot of good discussions if you search forearm pain etc. but will show how they are related to the type of pain you are experiencing. Veena has strength and flexy lessons specifically for this area and also this link has products for strength and healing (towards the bottom) https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/53ac0521-5694-4f69-8752-7df60a9aa0eb also a myofascial release type of massage can be done even at home if someone helps you. Hopefully yours does not progress to get worse since it seems like an early sign so you can work on it now!

Hi Blanche would you be willing to ship? Also is this the bottom loading set up and are there any issues that are reason for selling? Thanks!
-
I don’t own this pole but I remember putting one together with a friend and seems like a similar problem she had until we noticed there’s a little hole you have to match up with the pole and the base…not sure if this is your issue but maybe it will help

There are a lot of in depth discussions you can search for I can’t find the one I was thinking of right now but in short I love my yogadirect mat from amazon 🙂 I prefer round since it gives the full diameter if I do fall. You can also buy a protective cover if you plan to use heels in practice. The thinner mats may be a little better for spins if you plan to use it all the time but if you will be inverting I’d def reccomend 4+ inches and just get used to using the thicker mat with spins.

Just my 2 cents since I’ve worked in the nutrition industry and fiancé owns a supplement store….as you guessed there are not specific pole products but by marketing they’re saying hey this is a lean protein (bc pole dancers are most likely women who don’t want to bulk) that will help your muscles recover (bc pole dancing is a tough workout and you need to repair those muscles). There are a bazillion products out there so the most important thing is to decide what your goals are/what you want out of the product and make sure the sales associate knows these goals if you’re in a store….unfortunately this can sometimes mean an acquired taste depending on your diet restrictions. I personally feel that taste is not the focus here (although trust me I wish it was) because I’ve seen so many women get something just bc it tastes good but is the completely wrong product for their fitness/diet/health/weight goals… Prioritizing taste will most likely mean you’re getting extra calories/sugar/fillers/chemical additives. Mainly what I mean is look at the ingredients before you buy to make sure you are ok with everything that’s in it – you might be surprised at what is legal and “safe”!! If you decide that taste IS the most important factor, you could be better off getting your protein from a whole food source which gives you full flavor or by adding unflavored protein to your food. There are a lot of great protein recipes you can make at the beginning of the week to have when you need it. Just keep in mind that even protein is adding to your daily nutrients so needs to be taken into account just like any other food it’s not a “freebie” like a lot of people think. If you’ve cared to read this far you could ask yourself what are my health values/concerns, do I have diet restrictions, what/when do I normally eat and when do I plan to use the added supplement (morning, midday, bedtime, before/during/after workout, at home/on the go), what are my weight goals (gain/lose/maintain), how and how often do I train, what is my budget, what is most important/what am I willing to sacrifice? I could go on and on about protein lol but this will help eliminate “the bad” options and determine the right options for you. And sorry this was more like 10 cents 😂

I just wanted to give an update and review on the roller ball and sidewinder for those who may be interested…in short I do recommend and think both of these products will be effective to strengthen the wrists/forearms/grip.
The rollerball from what I can tell is essentially the same as the powerball. This video http://youtu.be/btW0BrglwQk goes through it pretty well showing different techniques you can use at about the 7:50 mark (powerball is shown but I did his with rollerball). It took me a while to get the hang of it (at first thought I just wasn’t going to get it) but now I can keep it going enough to really feel the burn in my forearm and wrist (also the “game” is to make the buzzing sound once it’s going fast enough so that was a fun accomplishment). Since it fits in your hand it’s really easy to take to work or use if you’re riding in the car. One thing I think that helped me is not rolling the string up too tight…leaving a little more room to pull made it start faster.
The sidewinder is also great but pricey and though not super bulky, I wouldn’t take it in the car or anything. This one doesn’t take any getting use to, as the technique is no fail so anyone will feel the burn right away. It has a smooth material on the grips so you don’t tear up your hands like you might using a gym or homemade version. There are several workout variations you can use to target different areas and it’s unlikely you’ll outgrow this in strength since the resistance is adjustable (I’m on the lowest setting and really feel it). One thing I do notice with this that I haven’t with the rollerball is the tendency of my tendons to move out of place (like tendonitis) which could be because the resistance on the lowest setting is still pretty strong. Hopefully this part will go away as I get stronger.
I already feel a difference from using these and hope this will help me prevent any future pain by strengthening these areas. Though I’m sure either one will work fine I will continue using both.

Some things you might want to look into for consideration…voodoo band (or other compression bands) for therapy. YouTube has videos to demonstrate different body part uses also the reviews make it sound like a miracle. Strength wraps (often used in crossfit) to stabilize during pole practice. I do have these and can say they help but do not prevent 100%. And “wrist roller” for forearm training (looks like these could be available in a gym or can make your own pretty easily or there’s also the techy “sidewinder” which is about $100 but offers more range of motion/additional exercises if you think it’s worth the investment.) Webb Junk has sent me the roller ball (yay) similar to powerball so I will also let you know how that goes!

Also might check out Dear Kates underwear online. They suggest using whatever other protection for “that time” but extra reassurance or emergency protection sounds nice and looks like they will have yoga pants/shorts soon too.
