Really? I'm gonna check her out! If you find anything else let me know, I'm always looking to add to my stretching routine. I get bored easily and then lose motivation so I keep trying to switch it up. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I have the same issue. I love my maxiflex but I have been neglecting it lately and doing my stretch on the floor after running. I'm a believer now in the power of warm muscles. I get so much farther in my splits after I'm super hot after a run. I tried the stretches in the video you posted and wow what a difference! Great for the hip muscleshttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Thanks for sharing! These look like great stretches. I will definately be adding them to my routine. I too am struggling to get my splits. I use the maxiflex which is great but it's always good to mix it uphttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

The woman in the video posted was also an instructor at the original BeSpun I think. If you check Leigh Ann's Youtube Profile some of the eariler dances were done by Angela…hmm can't remember her last name. Damn she's good! LOL

I love this video for floorwork and transitions. I think she worked at Bespun at one time because there are videos of her pole work on Leigh Ann Orsi's youtube page. Great song for it too!

@Horsecrazy good point. The thing I like about these boots is they taper outward at the top so they give room for upper thigh area. Thanks!

@ Moth I have the opposite problem where they scrunch down bc they make the sizes for thinner legged ppl. Thanks for your imputhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

@Chemgoddess1-There isen't more details even on the pleaser sight. I'm glad you mentioned the issues with coated lycra ones because I had never heard of thathttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif. Are those the more legging type boots? Would they normally list that in the description?

June 3, 2011 at 8:30 pm in reply to: Wrist Issues and Poling

Welcome to SV! I too have wrist problems. I struggle with mild carpal tunnel and I found that in my first months of poling it was excruciating. The biggest mistake I made was to go straight into learning spins and tricks without doing the strength training. Poling requires alot of body strength including wrist strength because in most instances you're pretty much lifting your entire weight. My friendly advise would be to ensure that you work on strengthening your wrist and upper body muscles as it will make a huge difference in how quickly you learn poling as well as ensuring no injuries. I'm not an expert by any means but this is just what my experiences have taught me. Hope that helpshttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gifI was hoping you weren't going to say that. I'm having trouble getting my hand to reach the pole when I have my knee to my chest. When I tried it the first way I was able to get it bc my torso was lifted but my scorpio isen't that secure all the time so I wanted to get the half jade way. Hmmm maybe my torso isen't high enough? So much for finding that plan for world peace tonight lol

Thanks Veena, I was actually following your lesson on it and found I the second to be a bit easier for me but I'm just getting lost on the hip turn. When I'm in half jade with knee to my chest do I somehow turn my right hip at that point? Probably a very silly question but I've been struggling with it all day so  I'm obcessing about it now lol

Ok I'm glad I found this. I'm working on my allegra and I was starting to think maybe my arms weren't long enough(I'm 5'2 with a prayer so being too small for things isen't new to me)https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I was going into gemini then half jade and for the life of me I just couldn't get my arm to reach and grab the pole. After reading this I'm not twisting my hips to face away from the pole. Now my brain  gets that but my body is rebelling. At what point do your turn your hips away. Half jade then turn and grab? Stupid question but I'm struggling with why can't figure this one out.

@MelanieDA rigging it to the pole is a great idea! I use mine with the door and I live in fear of someone opening the door and me bouncing my head off the wall. LOL

@ Sair It's very worth it and really not that expensive. I found mine on ebay and paid $20 and $10 for shipping.

@Shacko I hear ya about time. I work stupid hours and hate stretching on the floor in the traditional way so this has been a blessing. I hook it up to the door and stretch while I read, or watch tv. Thanks for posting about ithttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

@kat pole princess if you're looking for great ab excercises and are like me and get bored of doing the same workouts check out Kristy Wilson on youtube. She's a cirque du soleil performer and her workouts are amazing. I've been doing the advance core workout for the last month every night and I've noticed a difference in my toning as well as a lot of the tricks I've been working on.

Ok so I'm gonna answer my own questionhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I bought the maxiflex and absolutely love it. It's easy to use and wow does it make a difference. I've only been using it for a week but notice a huge difference already. I actually look forward to stretching now. Don't get me wrong it hurts like hell but once you get relax into it eases up and you can see your progress. Ankle get ready to meet ear https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hey Ladies I coldn't resist putting my two cents in on this one. Please be careful using chemicals to clean your pole. I attended a work related workshop on chemicals and poisons and was amazed how many of these things are in our household cleaning products. Vinegar is a natural cleaning agent and I've started using this to clean my pole instead of Windex. It's a great general household cleaner too. It's actually not too bad either at making the pole less slippery. It may smell a lil funky but it's better for your health.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

No I'm actually self taught…lol or I should say youtube taught. I don't have many pole studios in my area and the one we have out here is super expensive. I decided to buy an xpole and teach myself. I have a history in gymnastics and yoga so figured I could do it. It's been hard but I'm happy with what I've accomplished so farhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
