I haven’t got to pole for about a week and I’m actually craving it right now. I’m still struggling to find a balance of gym, pole, yoga/flexibility, and family. This week I won’t get to pole til Sunday. We are at my parents house for several days for Thanxgiving. I did bring some workout routines to do though that are pole strengthing exercises that don’t need a pole. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanxgiving!(for those that celebrate it this Thursday) will check in soon. 🙂 -

Yes my neighbors pole lessons went well! She was a little more discouraged today than last week, but only because she was having a harder time grasping the concept of some of the spins. I just encourage sure that is normal and it does come together! Now if I can only give myself the same words of encouragement. I tried free styling last night to only get extremely frustrated smacking my head on the ground Bonking on the pole, falling over! Ugh! I i’m really struggling with freestyle dancing right now and it’s discouraging to say the least. Oh and I had it on spinning mode which I don’t know how to dance on. So let’s just make that a double frustration! I have a sexy pole Christmas workshop to go to tonight so hopefully that will pull me out of my funk!

Anzia! Ha! I feel we have all done that a few times! I am off to the gym tonight. Taking a day off pole. My forearms are very angry with me from Sundays sesh. Having my neighbor over again tomorrow night for her second pole lesson!

Today is my daughters volleyball banquet so I’m gonna go to the gym and do some cardio after work. Tomorrow I’m going to Krazykosters to det some help on the half handspring into the extended butterfly. I can’t seem to lock it in and I instantly fall into the pole with my extended leg. Ugh.

Today I worked on a half handspring to butterfly (fail) and then worked on a different move into butterfly. I don’t know what it’s called but saw it on SV in the Advanced moves section. I want to post a video but it’s sideways and I can’t seem to change it around cuz that’s how it was sent to me. Nothing for me tomorrow except some cardio. Tuesday I’m gonna go to Krazykosters house and work more on that damn handspring!

I too have failed at keeping all updated.
So Tuesday I taught my stepsons mom a few basic things on the pole and then did a freestyle dance myself and it felt good! I haven’t had that feeling in awhile. Wednesday I went to the gym and did chest and tri’s, them went home and taught my neighbor some basic pole stuff. (She is a natural!) Thursday I did legs and cardio at the gym then went home and took my dog for a brisk (cold) short walk. My friend is now going to come over every wed for lessons! She works as a Physical Therapist so we are gonna work out some trade in massages. (Ohhh yaaaa)
Now my family is off on a 2 hour drive to go support my daughter/team at State for volleyball. This takes me away from any physical activity for Friday and possibly Saturday but Sunday is my PIYO class and then a pole play date with Heidy who got me into pole to begin with!!!

Anzia! That takes a strong person to say “this is more than I can handle right now”! I give you mad props!!! Were you able to come up with something different?
I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a while. Super busy and well frankly nothing to post. My husband noticed My vaulted ceiling mount had a slight malfunction earlier this week so it is off limits til it can be fixed. 😔 *sad sad face. (Tomorrow it should be fixed).
My daughter and her volleyball team won Districts so now they are off to state so that has occupied my tue and thur. My work had a formal function to attend so I literally spend two days after work to find that perfect dress ( last minute I found The One!) and then yesterday was the event and took it to an after hours party till 330am! Eeks. Needless to say I didn’t make it to the gym this morning either but going tonight! I did have a night of handstand, forearm stands, and various yoga poses but that has been it’. Going to the gym tomorrow in the morning to do PIYO and then straight to pole class! (Happy dance!) -

I did dance (and recorded) tonight. Not a great recording as i had to use my tablet which is so close still when zoomed out. I’m gonna attempt to edit the ending if when I was done (never done that before either) and post. It’s mostly legs but it’s a recording nonetheless. -
I had to look up the side saddle superman….that is pretty!! I must try this!
I’m feeling frustrated as all hell right now…..spinning pole is not easy. Period.
I’m trying to do that simple (ha!) move where you just grab on to the pole engage your shoulders and spin (either pencil style or legs spread) and my body wants to twist/wrap around the pole. WHY CANT I STAY PUT???
I envision myself on the pole feeling so graceful, elegant, and strong but when I get home and touch the pole it quickly fades. I’m feeling frustrated right now. I want to dance but I put soo much pressure on myself I freeze, fumble, aNd in my head, fail. Suggestions, advice, hell, words of encouragement are greatly welcome! Lol. Back to try this again. -
Anzia! I had a great session! Thank you for asking! I was able to help Heidy get into superman and she taught me some great hip opening and center split stretches! I was a or to do the knee hold twice yesterday! And then later my daughter and her friend poled with me. (That’s always entertaining more than anything!!) I’m sore today but ony way to PIYO class so hopefully I will work some of these aches out.

Nice job Anzia! I haven’t tried the teddy bear on my bad side yet. I did a HIIT Training class on the treadmill this morning for 45 minutes, and later today Heidy is coming over for a pole session! I think I’m gonna have my husband spot me on some things too today so I can build strength to some day do a handspring. 😊

Anzia-I have had those days! (Almost every day I practice alone). Don’t give up! You have a goal and a great goal at that!
If I may make a suggestion, I don’t know how you eat but if u feed your body the day before complex carbs (brown rice, quinoa, oat bran, Etc) and make sure ur protein is up (on average is 1gram per lb of body weight) and then obviously lots of water intake this may help you to sustain the energy you need for class an practice. 🙂 I notice a huge difference when I have eaten good and clean! (I am a junk food junkie. Thats my biggest weakness!)
You got this girl!! Keep fighting!Yesterday I went to do yoga and there was no class so I did sprints, Bi’s and Tri’s, then did a fun yet challenging class that works you core like no other! I did some stretching and my bad side for splits has become my good side now since that pulled/strained hammie. I dislike this set back but it is what it is.. Happy Halloween!!

Aww! Thanx Anzia! I’ll check those out this weekend! Most of my aches and pains are gone so I’m gonna hit the weights today followed by yoga. Doing the trick or treating with the boy tomorrow so poling is gonna hafta wait til Saturday and Sunday. 😊

I decided to just do a floor work DVD but did one too many shoulder rolls and got a kink in my neck within a couple hours of practicing! Wth?! I seriously feel like a really old lady right now! I cannot believe the aches and pains and easy injuries I’m getting when I used to not! Tonight I am resting 100%. If I do anything at all tonight it’s gonna be to take my dog for a walk! Thank you for checking up on me!!! Love love love it!

Thank you dustbunny! My Chiro said i strained/pulled it where the hamstring muscle connects to the bone. It’s in the most awkward spot! O_o

Hi everyone! So Just a brief update. Thursday I did a split stretching DVD and over did it and aggravated something. I’m ok, just can’t stretch that Hammie right now. I did shoulders and abs on Saturday and Piyo on Sunday (love that class!) I got my new spinning pole up! (My hubby is awesome!) too bad I’m too sore to do anything on it. 😕 I’m gonna try to go to class tomorrow and work on some inversions. Happy poling!

So I have been following this thread since the beginning with the thought that I would chime in with my goals when I have them together….well, as you can see, I am just now jumping in. I am really impressed with everyone’s personal goals! Inspiring!
My struggle(s) I have are not enough time in the day! I work fulltime, have kids in sports, dinners to prepare (because my family can’t seem to prepare meals…Grrr), house chores, grocery shopping, dog to walk, and on and on and on! I use to go to the gym 5-6 days a week after work but when I do that, i don’t have any time to pole. I am trying to figure out a weekly routine that I can incorporate that will have a better balance of pole, gym time, and family. I am struggling with finding my freestyle dance at home so I find myself doing the technical part of pole a lot. This is all fine and dandy but what good is the technical stuff if I don’t know how to pull it into a dance?
I love what I read about posting note cards. I seem to forget what I want to keep practicing until after the fact.
I am going to perform at a local studio in January and want to have my routine down and my combos solid. So that is one goal.
My others: to work on my splits, to be able to go into a particular hold. (Don’t know the name of it right now but u can do the Ayesha from it and well lots of stuff), find my freestyle, oh! And I just got a spinning pole so to be able to dance on spin mode!
I am open to suggestions to reign in my sporadic poling, gym, life cuz I am all over the board right now!
So yesterday I played around with my daughter and her friend on the pole and today I did the splits workout by Alethea. Don’t think I will have time to so anything tomorrow but will let u know! -
