I have attended a couple different studios. The first studio I started at offers a trickery class, conditioning class, flow or dance, etc. This studio ALWAYS has each student freestyle dance to a song.
The studio I am attending now and the intermediate classes I have been taking focus more on tricks, combos, etc but it always incorporates a sexy stand up, a floor move, etc. Basically something to bring everything together.
My personal opinion? Offer Variety! I think having students freestyle dance be it together or individually is huge! I dont do it enough so when i do i feel lost and like i am doing the same moves over and over and over again. Plus it gives the students a chance to incorporate what they just learned! Variety… 🙂

I too am just starting to do spinning. I have been taking workshops, one on one lessons, practicing in class at home etc. I am doing a showcase on March 7th and I decided to challenge myself and do it in spinning. (What the F was I thinking?!) I am committed now. One thing I have learned is it doesn’t take a lot to engage the spin so “push off” (for lack of better words) very gently. The closer you come into the pole the faster you will spin (as you have learned) putting a limb out or even you butt is a great subtle way to put on the brakes. moves are very slow and controlled. (Which is a challenge for me to go slow.) practice practice practice! As you go you will learn the right amount of push off with your own personal pole and not go too fast but fast enough to keep it going! Best of luck and I’m going to watch this thread for tips too! 😉

OK…I am just seeing this thread (at work) and am going nuts with all the beautifulness! But My question is how are you ladies (and gentlemen if there are) saving the instagram videos and then posting links? I am not very tech savvy and need to learn how to do this for my own journey! Please advise me of your knowledge! 😉

I have another showcase the beginning of March! I am challenging myself to do it in spinning mode! Eeks! Best of luck to all!

Thank you Mel! I did two spinning pole workshops yesterday (feeling beat up!) and then intermediate today. The focus was shoulder mounts, shoulder mount flips, etc so I’m again, beat up! I love it though! I have sooo much in my arsonel of things to work on now!
Tomorrow is either gonna be pole or the gym doing strength training! 😉

MelMorgan! That’s a really busy schedule. wow! That’s inspiring. I am having one heckuva time with scheduling. I love going to the gym but if I go to the gym I don’t have time to practice pole, if I practice pole I don’t feel like I got as good of a workout as if I went to the gym. I work full-time I have two kids and a husband, so trying to find balance amongst myself them and housework is difficult. Something always suffers and it seems to be pole. I have been doing hot yoga on Thursdays and a program called PIYO on Sundays which is a cross between yoga and Pilates. And once a week I go to intermediate pole class. The other days I find myself in the gym doing strength training. Like I said then that leaves no more time for pole.
So like I said your workout schedule is very inspiring hope I can come up with something as good!

Thank you Anzia! I can’t wait for the next one in April! Since my performance I went to pole class on Sunday and that’s the last time I’ve touched pole! I will be doing weight training Monday Tuesday Wednesday, Hot yoga with my friend on Thursday Who knows what else!
I learned some fun combos and the mest hook on Sunday that I would like to practice this week so I will try to find some time for that!
    Happy Poling Ladies!

Ok! I have posted my video! Please take a look if you have 5-6 minutes to spare! I am very pleased with how it turned out. There are a few things I would tweek (point toes when I climb, better extension in my butterfly) but thats it! 🙂

Ladies! I am sorry for my a sense the past two weeks! I was practicing hard on my performance last night. IT WENT AMAZING!!!! I nailed my routine! I want to post a video but it shows up sideways (again) and it is pretty large. When I get it up I will let you ladies know.
Now it’s back to working on new tricks, getting stronger and perfecting them for the next show in April! It’s late so I am going to cut this short; just wanted to check in.

Hello Neesy!!! Lots of goals you have!
I had the most lazy day today. I went to pole class and that has been it! No house cleaning, no PIYO, no prepping food (that’s not good), but I have a lot of work to do this week! Busy busy busy!

Hi to the new ladies! Welcome! You have some great goals both long and short term!

Anzia! Oh my gosh!!! I am so sorry for all the stuff you have been dealing with! Wow…I feel like I should have checked in with you. 😔 I wish there was something I could say to make it all better for you.
You should be proud of yourself for still doing your showcase!!! That takes a lot!

My check in: I have a showcase on the 9th that I am preparing for. There is to be over 60 ppl there! Yikes! I just had a one on one and got some great guidance to make it my routine pop! So excited😄 this is my first showcase! I have been poling everyday working on this along with going to the gym and weight training. I am pretty beat up but I have a goal to reach!

My goals outside of the showcase are:
    splits- all directions
    Handspring (without a chair!)
    Iron X

Those are my main ones right now. 😊

Hamstring survived and so did I! My one on one was very productive! I have core combos I’m going to do written down and I have my entry to the song in rough form. Now I need to work on the ending, figure out a couple spins, and my floor work. 😳
That’s a bummer about you rehearsal aNd the pole being too slippery! Nothing more frustrating than not being able to perform and not because you didn’t want too either. Next time will be a huge success for you!!
The floor at the studio yesterday was sooo sweaty! I didn’t dare move to fast otherwise i’d land on my Ass! I did my piyo class this morning but that was it. I usually pole but decided to take a day to rest. I bought a foam roller today and did that instead….ouch! Enjoy your week!☺️

I have a gal I’m teaching who is a physical therapist. She gave me a superball to roll my feet on. It’s like a foam roller for your feet! It’s a hurts so good feeling, but it is seeming to help. I get the worst cramps in my toes, feet, and calves. A golf ball works too. You can also roll your foot on a frozen water bottle. 😉

Anzia, my Flex class was great! it ended up being 2 1/2 hour class so even better! I am a bit sore this morning though. As you might remember, I had strained/pulled my hamstring a couple months ago so that is a bit aggravated today but not to the point of no poling. And then we did this shoulder stretch where you get on all fours, put your elbows up on a chair (seat part) and they push and hold. While they do that you are then suppose to tuck your bum in which in turn causes your shoulders to want to raise but cannot because the person is holding them, this is where the stretch happens. The instructor did this one on me and I really feel it in my left shoulder now! All worth it though!
My routine is for a studio. Every few months she does whats called the Darkened Room. Dancers can then sign up to perform ($5 a song). Its open to the public meaning both men and women can come, so you are performing in front of strangers!! This has been a goal of mine for awhile but havent felt I was good enough. I went to the last show to watch and realized its not about your skill level but just getting up there, conquering any fears and enjoying yourself! It was amazing to watch the women during the last show!
Ha! Sorry for the book. I am actually on the computer instead of my phone so I can type a lot faster! I have inversions class in 3 1/2 hours, then my one on one at 6:30. Hopefully I survive all this! Enjoy your day!

Haha! I feel ya on the accountability..(or lack there of!) I blame it on the holidays! Life is super busy right now for all if us! Happy to hear you had a great class. Now get on that pole at home and practice practice practice!!! (I must heed my own advice!)
I went to the holidays in heels party last night and danced for the first time (successfully) in heels! Fun! Fun! It was a fundraiser for a local woman’s shelter. Tonight I’m going to a 2hr flexibility class. I’m REALLY looking forward to it too! I have seen some of his successes! Then I have my one on one to hopefully work on my own routine that is next month! Yikes! Not even close…just finally committed to a song! Time to go, Have a great weekend!

Lol! That’s what I’m afraid of!
I ended up not going to the gym but got a massage instead. I was rear ended last Tuesday (everyone is ok). I’ve gone to the chiropractor and got a referral for a few massages. My upper body was nothing but knots! (I didn’t tell her I think it’s from poling). But the last two days I’ve had a headache. I have also been having really bad lower back pain so hopefully I can work some of this out. 😊 looking forward to the rest of the week though!!!

Just checking in- I poled Sunday and was able to get (with chair assistance) the twisted grip Ayesha! Or maybe it is a TG handspring? Either way, I’m pretty excited! My body ached horribly the following day. I was suppose to go to trickery (inversions) class but it got cancelled. That was a blessing in disguise. I think I’m hittin the gym tonight. Wed I might have my friend over who I am teaching, Thursday is a Xmas party at one studio, Friday is a 2 hour flexibility workshop, sat is inversions and then a private lesson later that day. I hope by Saturday I’m not too beat up and will be successful at my PL. I Hope everyone has a great week! 😊
