It looks really nice. I can’t wait until I move so I can have a special "dance space". Right now my pole is squeezed in between a televison, my bed and a dresser LOL.

I’m looking for a bigger place now….preferably one with a basement that i can set up just for poling. man that would be sweet!

Do you leave your pole up all the time. What does company say? LOL

Im look to get a pole I cant stand not having one And this is in my price rang. so anything you know about this pole would be vary helpful thank you http://www.essenceofromance.com/eor/viewProduct.jsp?productId=154" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; the name is My sexy little pole thank you for reading

If it is indeed the same as the Carmen Electra don’t waste your time or money. If you want it that bad I’ll send you the one I got….FOR FREE! (Sike I would never give that thing to anyone, not even if they paid me. It’s a deadly piece of shit)

I agree that you should save up. I was anxious just like you and got every cheap pole on the market and still ended up getting an x-pole in the end so I spent more money than I needed to. Just save up and do it right the first time.

Learn from my mistake!!!! LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I lift too and I loooooooove muscle milk. I’m lactose intolerant so I love it’s tastyness and even the premixed shakes are lactose free so it’s right up my alley. For my post workout protien I use a whey powder…I forget the name now but it’s got 52g of protien which is sweet but it’s got that chalky vanilla thing going for it (I feel your pain amcut) so I don’t enjoy it as much as the Muscle Milk but it gets the job done.

As far as supplements I don’t take anything else but flax, borage and fish oil. I take biotin for my skin and nails (I’m a dermatology nurse so I’m obsessed with skin) and a daily multivitamin. I experimented in the realm of fat burners for a while but I’m all natural now https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I lift specific muscle groups alternating days. Sometimes I squeeze full bodies in there but I usually like to give each muscle group it’s own time LOL. I do super sets with heavy weight to build mass and strength. The whole "toning" thing didn’t really seem to work for my body type LOL.

Lifting definitely helps with poling the only tricky part is trying to safely alternate pole dancing with weight training sessions while still giving your body time to rest. Liek veena said, rest is very important https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

If you’ve got the patience, I promise you will be well rewarded by learning to invert from the floor! You will build enormous amounts of strength in all parts of your body. You will not rely on momentum, but rather core strength. It’s so hard but well worth the practice. Start with your bum on the ground, then invert from a squat position, and then when you finally invert from standing, you’ll be laughing at how easy it is. Actually, I would recommend everyone who is already inverting to try it from the ground for a week!

And to start you off totally right, remember to try it on both sides. Of course 1 side will seem easier and naturally you will want to practice it more on that side, but do yourself a favor from the beginning and make yourself do it equal amount of times on both. I only learned on 1 side and have been struggling with the transition from chopper to inverted crucifix on my weaker side, whereas I never even think about it on my stronger side. For some reason, my legs get very confused when I switch sides and refuse to cooperate.

    Good luck!

so when you say try it from the floor, you mean from a sitting position or laying on my back?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON’T JUMP!!! You could seriously hurt your shoulders! I know this from personal experience. The best way to work on inverting is to do the following:

    1. both hands are about shoulder/face high. Outside hand on top, and inside hand on bottom
    2. Place pole on your side b/n your bottom rib and your hip bone. Try to keep constant contact between your pole and side. Think of this point as a pivot point.
    3. lift knees to chest and then tip torso backwards. To work on building strength do the knee to chest and hold as long as possible.

This is difficult at first, but you’d be surprised at how strong it will make you….it is a much more controled (ie prettier) way of inverting. Once you have the strength and control you can raise your arms higher and then lift yourself into it. Please don’t jump!

Also, remember to keep your shoulders back and down!

    Good luck.

Azriel is right…if you could post a vid it would be much easier to figure out/correct what you are doing.

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif Aww damn. You’re not supposed to jump? LOL I totally jump. Well maybe not "jump" but that outside leg definitely flys up with a lot of force…I’ll try working on doing it correctly. I learn so much here https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

…..why haven’t my instructors told me that? LOL

Yeah actually (now that I think about it), my Gemini (or my shaky version of the gemini) seemed to come together better from that side…maybe because my inside leg is already hooked from bringing it up first? Hmm…

*goes to pole to try again*

Dang it. Well that explains why I can do stuff at the studio that I can’t do as well at home. I was spoiled!!!

I guess this also means that when I go to class now after practicing on my chrome pole I’ll be the bomb! Sweet https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Breaking in a pole is really only for Stainless steel. If you have an X you don’t need to do anything to it other than clean it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

So it’s not the pole? I just suck?

    Damn it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I’ve only used Brass poles in the past, is there a difference? My forearms are so sore right now just from basic spins and inverts and i swear I can’t get a good grip on that thing to save my life.

I get chills and all teary eyed….I’m not sad, just so moved and that’s how it comes out! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif "oh that was amazing and lovely" boo hoo hoo! hehe

LOL! Yep it seems like an oxymoron. My hubby recently complained I wasn’t being sexual enough…Hello! I pole dance and take you to strip clubs! You can’t pole dance without being in touch with your sexuality or sensuality. I tell my husband he has to sneak into the room to catch me practicing, or I get silly. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

Me and my hubby go to strip clubs too but I think my expanding pole knowledge is taking the fun out of it because all I do is critique the girls and explain all the moves to him.

"See that? That’s a gemini, I can almost do that….oh and see how she just did that and then her legs came up real slow…that’s a shoulder mount and it takes so much core strength…."

    after a while he’s like https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

    LOL!!!

I so programed the start of that show into my phone! I’m obsessed with SYTUCD and I watch it every season! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I watch all dance shows pretty much…you’ll even see some so you think you can dance contestants on other shows like Dancing with the Stars and Americas Best Dance Crew.

Yeah! I’m not the only one! My husband has been like "Hey, I thought this was my birthday present! I’ve had 2 shows in six months and I paid $600 for this!" He thinks I tricked him. I agree that seeing the practice, especially the screw ups, spoils the show. I’ll have to tell hubby that. I get nervous when he watches, and even when I turn the camera on; I’ll have to try closing my eyes. I’m definitely showing him this thread!

    Shy pole dancers unite!!

LOL @ a shy poledancer….it seems kind of like an oxymoron (is that the right word?)

My pole is in my bedroom and lastnight my h whusbandent to bed around the time I decided to practice and he was just laying there watching me and I was like "Dooooooon’t loooooooooook" and he was like "Fine, I’ll turn my head." and he ducked his head under the covers LOL. He dozed off and I had myself some semi-private pole time LOL. I kept kicking the bed though, but luckily I didn’t wake him up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Go see a Doctor, the pain shouldn’t be there after this long.
Women have been known to dislocate ribs inverting, that is why we try to put it off until you are strong enough.

So, go see Doctor and leave inverting for crazy folk like Veena and Fleur and Berty and Glitz and Sascha and all the others who do it strongly and safely.

Come, join those of us who refuse to invert.
