ooh how fun! although i can’t do the splits…does that mean i’m disqualified? Lol. But I’ve been stretching every day and I’m getting closer! I’m bad at choreography so I’m just going to free style it and try to remember what i have to do….i’ll write it on my arm or something so I don’t forget! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I can’t do the splits either but I’ll do my version of a split LOL. Bent knees and all!

    Hi Allie,
Me personally. I would feel compelled to bring it up to the owner, at least once. I know she has a lot on her plate but I think the studio and the students that attend it are her responsibility too and she should want to make sure they’re all getting the best instruction that she can provide them. I’d offer to help the "new girl" (if she wanted it) and see if we could get her up to a instructor level, at least for the basic stuff, as soon as possible.

If the owner didn’t do anything about it, then I’d just have to watch her bomb and watch the studio lose clientele or get a bad rep because of new instructors being thrown into classes when they’re not ready. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_neutral.gif And that would suck.

LOL, I just posted a similar thread not too long ago because I was having what I call "Dancers Block".

It happens and it will probably happen again and again. All you can do is keep on keepin on until you get your mojo back. It’ll come back, I promise https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

 https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I remember the first whiff I got of my hair when I quit over a year ago…ohh man tasty https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Unfortunately I’m back on the bandwagon again https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif I stayed quit for about a year but man college is soooo bad for my smoking habits…all my friends (and I mean all. Literally every single one) smoke. Just got out of a 3 year relationship with a guy who smoked, and the guy I’m seeing now smokes worse https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif When I quit the first time, it was because I realized I was officially a 5 year smoker, because I started at 15. Now I’m realizing I will probably see the 10 year mark roll around and my head will spin when it does. I never thought at 15 that I ever could or would be a smoker of 5-10 years, but then again what the heck did I know at 15? Shows how much foresight I had, that’s kind of what happens! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I don’t think you can expect yourself at 15 to know what a bad idea it was to pick up that first cigarette. I know it’s hard as hell to quit when everyone around you smokes. That’s why I love Chantix because it makes it so that even if you feel like you should smoke, you can’t cuz it’s gross. Somehow this medication totally turns you off to smoking. I don’t know how it works but it’s good stuff.

As both a runner and a pole dancer, you completely have my commiserations about your feet being so inconsiderate about your daily activities;p Just a thought about at least maintaining up body strength, to add on to what someone else said about doing pole pull ups, maybe you could use/invest in a swiss ball to sit on beside the pole and do combo upper body and core stuff – at least that way you can do things with the pole without having to stand? If you get what I mean (eg. use both the ball and the pole at the same time, sit on the ball right beside the pole where you’d normally stand, grab onto the pole, engage your core and invert etc – that’s the way one of our instructors prepares people for inverting). Just an idea anyway!

That’s such a good idea!!!!! I was going to try from the floor, but the ball will be a great help too. Thanks!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

aw, I’m sorry sissy, I really hope surgery wont be the case, I’ve been having this knee pain for a few weeks now, the doctor said it could be a stress fracture! damn!! I hope it isn’t ’cause that’s gonna be about 8 weeks off the pole!!! we should work on a ‘disable’ routine together or something…hhahahahahaha

I’m already working on a routine I can do with my cane LOL. Maybe we can do cane/pole doubles!

I’m so excited for you! I wish I had the guts to do a competition. I want to but I’m chicken sh*t! I just went to the Arundel Hills Xpose location for the first time. I had a great time and will be going back for sure. Which studio do you dance at? I know there’s two other locations.

When I do go I go to Arundel Mills. Which class did you take?

I can burn you one whenever. I can just drop one in the mail if that’s easier https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

    I’ve had your 1 year pole-avversary vid fav’d for a long time!

It’s funny that you mention the body wave because I have been working on that and I’ve been thinking about trying the spinning shoulder mount too! I have so many ideas of stuff I want to put into my routine but I’m only going to use things that I have down good by Feb. I have no idea what song I want…no idea at all…LOL.

I’ve heard the music is really important. I didn’t see the competition last year, but the girl who came in second is one of the BEST I’ve ever seen and I couldn’t believe she didn’t win. I asked her what in the WORLD did the girl who beat her do to edge her out and she said she thinks it had to do with her flow and the way her music was put together. So now I’m OBSESSED with picking the right song https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif.

Here are a few I’ve seriously considered. Some of these are only good selections if the costume goes with it:
    Circus- Brittney Spears
    Girl Fight- Brooke Valentine
A BAD mix with Bad to the Bone, MJ’s Bad and Rihanna’s Bad Girl
    Candy Man- Christina Aguilera

Ladies any suggestions you have for Sissy and I would be greatly appreciated https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif We need guaranteed crowd pleasing songs!

I have the DVD from last year so I know who you’re talking about and I will tell you it definitely was the music. The girl who got second was strong as hell. Amazing. But the winner had a cute song (Usher I think) and a fun sexy performance. I can send you a copy of the DVD if you want?

I like the songs you are considering. So far I keep listening to Battlefield by Jordan Sparks over and over and imagine myself in a cute ripped up army outfit LOL.

Another girl in last years show did a mix of superwoman and it did not sound good at the time. It seemed jumbled and out of place, like it didn’t have a flow …. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

    know
ive been having the worst time with the chopper. i could get my legs up but not where my pelvis was close enough the the pole so i couldn’t hold it for very long.

i found that i was gripping way too tight. you need a strong grip as you’re going up, but as soon as you start tilting back, release the grip slightly so that you allow your arms to fall straight. if you keep trying to clench, your bicep will always keep your arm bent and you cannot get the full V effect.

i’m still working on it, but consciously thinking about straightening the arms helps so much! and sissy..i know you said you had back pain from inverting on another post. this should help with that too (at least it did a little for me)!

My inverting pain resolved on it’s own. I don’t think it had to do with my grip on the pole. Chopper wasn’t really a problem for me though. I still don’t know what caused that pain, but I’m so glad it’s gone!

First off I want to say thank you so much to everybody for your support, well wishes and suggestions. I have a bit of an update…I had my follow up appoinment this morning and the doctor showed the images of my feet and boy are they jacked up! Wow man!

It was so cool to see the bones and see how they’re supposed to be in relation to how they actually are and that really helped me understand what’s causing my pain. The doctor told me he’s definitely going to have repair it surgically. I have a closed stress fracture of my left tibia and possibly some tendon damage in there. He ordered an MRI to check on the tendon. I also have to see a gastro enterologist and an endocrinologist (cuz I have tummy issues that might be interferring with my body absorbing the nutrients it needs to heel) and he wants to make sure my bones will heel properly after he goes in and works on them.

Then after that…we will start talking about surgery.

For now I have to wear this huge dramatic (un-sexy) boot on my left foot and walk with a cane! I can’t stand for any longer then 20 minutes at work. This of course interferes with my job greatly so this afternoon I go talk to the people at occupational health to see if I can still work with these limitations. If not….I might have to try going on disability or something until I’m all healed up.

I certainly don’t mind collecting a check to sit at home with my bad feet propped up and watch pole videos LOL but it just sounds so wierd to use the word "disability" when I’m talking about myself…man I must be getting old. LMAO!

I haven’t started thinking about the surgery or when to have it or my competition or recovery time and all that. I’ll have that talk with him after I see all these other docs https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I just wanted to update you guys and let you know that I’m getting answers and I’m so happy! I see the pain free light at the end of the tunnel! Awww Sissy, You don’t need to suffer in silence!! I can’t believe you went so long without answers while you were in so much pain. I had no idea you were in pain at the workshop. You did great! Anyway, taking a break won’t be that bad if you do get surgery. I broke my hand a few years ago in a bad car accident and I was SHOCKED that even though I couldn’t work out I A) didn’t gain any weight and B) didn’t lose much muscle strength. You gotta take care of your feet, they are the foundation of your whole life. I think you could still find a way to pole even with a cast on. You could even draw the outline of a high heel on the side of the cast! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

The heel on the cast! Perfect idea Angel!

Our feet are the foundation of our body and lately it feels like every step I take is radiating up my damn spine. I just want to quit work right now and go home and put my feet up. I went to bed as soon as I got home yesterday because it just hurt too much, it was wearing me out.

Good news though! My boss got tired of seeing me limping around, called my doc (she’s a supervisor here so she has connects) and got me an earlier appt for tomorrow morning. We’ll go over all my tests and decide on the next step https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

And in your honor Roxy I only smoked one half of a cigarette all day yesterday…and then I didn’t really even want it ….I don’t think I really wanted it to begin with LOL. I just had one when I got off work cuz my feet were killing me and I was stressed. I took a few puffs and put it out…

YAY! Good for you! It is such a hard habit to give up, but think how much better your life will be without them!! and not at all to bring the mood down, but i do want you to try and keep this in mind anytime you have a REALLY bad craving… my step-grandmother just passed away this morning from cancer, caused by her lifelong addiction to cigarettes… you were 100% right when u said it is a killer… You can do it Roxy!! We all know you can! You know you can too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif We love you and are so proud of you <3 xoxo

awwww that sucks, I hope you don’t have to have surgery. I can’t imagine how a foot problem would affect your life and pole dancing too! All these things we take for granted….I hope they can get it figured out for you. Have you looked into some alternative medicine? If you do have to have the surgery we can do a pole challenge where you have to stay up on your pole and can’t touch the ground, just for you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

I have looked into a couple of things. I think I want to try accupunture and Roxy suggested something called Aqua-Chi to me. I’m trying to find someone near me that does it.

I’ll be looking for that no feet touching the floor challenge! LOL

Hey sissybuns! I used to be a Podiatric assistant. I also developed flat feet and suffered with those problems! The podiatrist I worked for doesn’t recommend that surgery, he made me custom orthotics and I’ve been good ever since…I can’t wear heels for really long periods of time but I don’t have the pain anymore..have been in orthotics for 10 years now, I have them checked periodically and adjusted as needed. Good luck whatever you decide to do…I totally can relate to what you’ve been going through!! *HUGZ*

    Hi Lilbit,
Orthotics were the first thing I tied and no luck. I got a new prescription made yesterday so when they are done in a couple of weeks I’m going to try again.

Awww….I’m sorry to hear that you’re in pain.

I know the prospect of not poling for a while is daunting. If you are out for 8 weeks or less, honestly, you don’t loose a great deal of muscle memory. The strength drops quickly, but it’s easy to regain. So no real worries except not having that outlet.

And think of how sweet your moves will look with pointed toes! It will help everything in the long run.

(I agree heartily with leaving your camera on if you pole with casts. That would be AWESOME to watch – though, likely not recommended. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif )

I do look on the brightside. No pain and pretty pointed toes! That alone makes it worth it! I’m glad to hear I won’t lose much muscle memory after a couple of months. That makes me feel a lot better https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m gonna be a handicapped pole dancing mama! I’ll make those casts sexy…somehow…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
