I know I’m not givin up! it’s just that my video was unique and different from all the other submissions I saw because I incorporated my ballet/lyrical dance training with my pole work and I have a different style that’s why I don’t get it. Not saying everyone elses were bad because they deffinitly were all awesome, but the styles were all similar and I though doing something different and unique would get noticed….they offered to critique in my rejetion letter so I asked them for it beause I really don’t understand what I did wrong, so I’m waiting for that!

I wrote out a lengthy somewhat heated response to this but I decided it would be better to delete it and instead ask a question to make sure I’m understanding you correctly. I understand that you’re upset for not getting picked but are you saying that all of the other girls have the same dance style? Because if you are that’s not cool at all ?

I hate to see such a negative attitude about not getting picked. Tons of amazing dancers get overlooked for gigs all of the time. Like daily. Day after day. Every minute somebody somewhere is being told no. Roxy-Pink is like a sister to me and she was rejected a handful of times over the past few months alone. She was picked for USPDF and I’m beyond happy for her, but if she hadn’t…I would have told her to keep her head up and just keep trying. The same thing I told her the other times she got rejected.

You can’t get down on yourself or even assume that you’re not amazing enough for any competition. This time it just wasn’t in the cards for you. But to post about being so upset and not able to understand why some of the other girls got in and not you (because your routine was different and unique) is almost insulting to those that were lucky enough to get chosen. We’re all artists and art is subjective. I watched Amber do one of the most beautiful lyrical/ballet/pole routines I’d ever seen at USPDF finals this year and she didn’t even get top 5…and we all know how friggin awesome Amber is. It just wasn’t the time for her (sorry for busting you out Amber LOL).
It doesn’t mean you’re not great. It just means you gotta keep trying and be happy for the ladies that did make it. I know I am.

Hi PDR, I haven’t seen any difference in size between Ellie and Pleaser. They seem to run very similar so far. I do offer exchanges as needed too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

It was awesome to watch all of the other performances though. I had never seen aerial silks or trapeze so I really enjoyed it. I loved your vid! It shall be faved!

    Hi Reenie,
I’m a nurse and I have assisted with numerous LEEPs throughout my career and it shouldn’t be that painful. They do numb you up so of course you may feel the stick of the needle and you tend to get a warm flushing feeling in your face when the lidocaine goes in (I always thought that was wierd LOL) but besides that you just lay there and let the good doctors work. Of course everyone experiences pain differently so to some it may be pretty horrible and to others not so bad. You sound like a tough cookie, so I think you’ll be fine.

Side note….I love patients that take their care into their own hands and don’t go along with just anything. You do have a say in what happens to your body. Remember that.

Empy: showcase….heh…uh, funny story about that………I’ve never actually performed in public before. The thought is kind of terrifying! I mean….there’s some people on this guest list that I’ve got butterflies just to meet, let alone perform in front of!

Poleophile: what time are you planning on getting in? I was thinking about coming straight to the jam from Decatur myself, but I could be back Friday evening if need be. I think my bf might be coming up with me for a break before school starts, but I’m not sure yet. I’m such a last-minute planner, I’m sorry! I’m sure we can work something out. I need to talk to my mom and my man this afternoon, I’ll let you know as soon as the plan is finalized.

UPDATE: parents will definitely be out of town, so I can host up to 4 quite comfortably.

    Decatur georgia????

But…a canonball does make more sense……

I went to the website the other day and asked if they had any samples. Got an email back within a few hours requesting my address. He sent me out a level 2 and a level 4 sample that day. Just got them in the mail today with a nice hand written note. Talk about some great customer service! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

The iTac customer service is awesome! I love them!

Went ahead and placed an order from a place in the UK. Actually cost less even with shipping than the other 2 websites mentioned.

Can’t wait to try it out.

    Who’d you buy from?????

Empy is 100% correct. We are all different and some things may work for one and dont work well for another. You could even find one that works for you at one time of themonth and another for a different time of the month. Or you could be like me and need different types of grip aide for different parts of your body. I use dryhands on my hands (I don’t have sweaty hands) for inverted split grips but when my body gets so sweaty I slide right out of a Gemini I dust my torso with mighty grip and it helps. You’re probably going to come out best by trying different stuff out and seeing what works for you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

I have a personal facebook page and a House of Pole page and that’s more than enough for me LOL.

I think since I’m in the business of pole it’s so closely linked to my personal life that I kind of need the two to be intertwined. I’ve gotten lots of leads and sales from family and friends who know somebody that knows somebody that wants to know about pole and they all know I do it so they send them my way. Plus my personal page has become 90% polers too anyway so….my real life family and friends just gotta squeeze in there when they can LOL.

Plus I like sharing what I do with my family and friends. I too have my pole pics set up so that not everyone can see them. I’m not ashamed of what I do but my Dad and Grandpa aren’t really interested in seeing me on a pole in 6 inch heels so I spare them that visual. LOL

A video would be helpful for the body roll question.

For the aerial shoulder mount I see a lot of people side climb up with their shoulder mount shoulder near the pole then do it from there after going into a mermaid like hold. I personally am a big side climb failure so I just climb up and twist my upper body in front of the pole while my legs hold and grab from there. I think doing it from a dove or figurehead is easiest though….

I used Karols Itac2 last week-end and liked it. The 2 seemed to be a good level for me but I don’t sweat. or should say very very rarely sweat.

I also liked the gloves and might get some of them as well. I think sissybuns (house of pole) has both now.

I’m selling level 2 right now but I’m going to be adding level 3 and 4 as well. I persoanlly only have lvl 2 which works great for me but I’m not a big hand sweater. I am, however, a big body sweater but haven’t had the chance to smeer the stuff all over my body yet though LOL. But I plan to!

July 20, 2010 at 11:27 am in reply to: Questions about Chrome X-Pert before purchase!

I have small hands and find a 45mm easier to grip for spins but a 50mm better for thigh holds/inversions. If you dance on a 45mm it may be harder to use 50mm in the future as your grip may be weaker.

The chrome Xpoles have a mirror like finish similar to stainless steel. I know many people who have not noticed a difference between chrome and titanium grip wise.

But whatever you do please dont buy a pole off ebay!! No matter how genuine they appear, or even if they are genuine Xpoles. The only way to be sure and have warranty/customer service is to buy straight from Xpole.com.au

    x

There are reputable dealers on Ebay. You can contact xpole to find out if the dealer in question is selling authorized x-poles. They should know if they are because if they are geniune poles, they’re getting them from X-Pole.
