"I was wondering if it had been decided what the Feb challenge will be? If not, I have a suggestion – a dance to the first song you ever bought. Not sure if this has been done. I'm not doing myself any favours, mine is a Spice Girls song.
I suggest this without even doing the January challenge yet!"
I really think we should keep the same deal for ALL the challenges! 😛
My first record, and I date myself here, was The BeeGees greatest hits on vinyl, which I still have I might add! *LOL*
Oh and I remember Boyzone too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I believe the time bar only shows up if you’ve upgraded your membership with the lessons. Once you have access to the lessons, I believe you get the time bar and the full-screen viewing options.

Wish I could help you on this, Tabby…my TG 45 was so slippy, I wasn’t sure if I couldn’t work on it because of the size or the grip. Got my 50mm chrome, and having much better pole workouts now. I also loaned my TG 45 to my instructor, and she agrees with me that my TG is extremely slippery, so she is going to work on it a bit and see if she can improve the grip for me.
I would say, just work on adjusting your grip and hopefully in a short time, it will right itself.

So is laser painful? There are regularly groupons for laser – 6 sessions for $99, I know you have to do your research on the clinic providing the service. But in 6 sessions would I be kitty hair free?
I am a shaver right now – too scared to wax or sugar and honestly there is nothing more disgusting to me than my own kitty so shaving seems like it takes the least amount of time.
So, laser and no worries?
*I’m extremely white and very dark haired.
Charley, it is my opinion that with your skin complexion and hair colour, you would be a great candidate for laser. I wouldn’t go back to shaving or waxing for any amount of money.
I have had 3 laser treatments so far, and going for my 4th this Tuesday. When I shave my hair between treatments right now, it takes forever to grow back…and already it’s growing back less and less every treatment. I’m told I might need 6-10 treatments to get rid of my hair fully, but any treatment after my 6th one is 50% off. Also, because of skin tone being darker generally on the labia, not to mention it being a more tender area, a good laser technician will turn down the intensity level of the laser for that area, so it may take a few extra treatments.
As far as pain goes, they cover you in a very cold (shockingly so) gel before they laser you, and I find that worse than the laser pulse itself. However, by comparison, it feels like someone flicking your skin…more of a minor irritation than pain.

I’m one of those "sensitive" people who bruise easily, with sensitive skin to boot. I’ve done the Neet/Nair thing with superficial burning…I’ve tried the shaving with a razor but I get severe razor burn and rash. I was going to the spa regularly for brazilian waxing and I would bruise and even bleed at the beginning but it was my preferred method of choice.
But I have moved on to the laser myself. My 5th appointment is a week away and I’m so glad I made the investment, let me tell you! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Try an anti-histamine, like Dayquil or Sudafed.
My hubby used to have a problem with this every time he was on a plane and would pop an anti-histamine to clear things up.
Hope it clears up soon…plugged ears is no fun! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I have also struggled with the things you are. Any of the few close friends I’ve met through this site would tell you, that I struggle with them all the time.
I found pole dancing just over a year ago, and I love it. It makes me feel young and alive, and I have so much fun doing it. I watch my own videos and think I am ridiculous to continue, but unless this site is full of pathological liars (which I doubt), the ladies here do not see the same thing I do. They are great for feedback, and support, and I love having them all in my life. Poling is a journey to self-awareness, and I am learning…slowly but surely.
You are certainly not too old to be poling, and anyone can do it. I wish many of my friends who fight the same age/weight issues that I face(d) would take up poling with me, and learn what I have. I am glad you have found it.
Keep on the path you are following, and lean on all us veeners for support. So glad you stopped your lurking! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

Love the pics, especially Advanced Plank, very pretty! I did this ONCE clumsily and just can’t get it again. Hope to get it soon, maybe with some help at a workshop https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif What are some tips as to how you got it? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
Gotta have a good solid polesit I found…and a solid crossed ankle release helps too. -
you look good, how do you critique yourself? are you still going for your own style? meaning some people add flare with pointed ballet toes and "spirit fingers"…congrats on all your progress. (btw, my suggestions don’t have too much weight because I currently don’t have any pics or vids posted)
Thank you…I’m still working on the pointed toes. I specifically think of them before I start, but once I get into the correct positions, the toes go directly out the window! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gifAnyway, I’m too embarrassed to post video, so I don’t have any up myself, but all thoughts are welcome since I’m still learning.

With the help of two friends, my Kendra X-pole is up in my living room. But I have to confess, with all the talk about collapsing ceilings, I’m a little nervous. I have it centered over a joist (gotta love stud finders) and it feels sturdy but I’m still paranoid about my ceiling crashing down around me. LOL!
My son installed mine for me in my basement, and before he would let me on it, he took several running flying leaps onto the pole doing twirls around it, then when he deemed it safe for me (since he’s about 30lbs heavier than I am) he asked my husband to sit on it for me cuz he’s the heaviest in the house. When it stayed up with my hubby on it, my son proceeded to show off and do what’s in the attached pic. Gotta hate show-offs! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I don’t have any up yet, they are coming. I might suggest coming to bendy buddies chat even if I am not there we have some wonderful members who have some great advice on stretches.

Nothing!!! The reason it doesn’t look just like mine is a matter of flexibility. This will come in time. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif The free leg is up a bit higher than mine (and there is nothing wrong with that!) If you would like to improve the pose…. working on your low back, and hip flexor flexibility will help and allow you to reach the free leg down towards the floor more. But remember pole moves don’t need to look just like mine or any other dancers, take the knowledge you have and make it your own. For your first time working with it I say it looks wonderful!!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Thanks, Veena! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif You are sweet to say this. I never in a million years thought my old tired body would be able to do any of this, so I’m pleased with my progress to date. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the way I was trying to do this move, but I’m glad you think it looks fine, so I will keep up the practice on it.
By the way, have you any vids of exercises I can use to "work" my lower back and hip flexors to improve my flexibility?
Oh, and did I tell you how much I LOVE your lessons?!? They are the greatest things since sliced bread!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
