i’ve had this problem alot lately!
tried the shaving cream idea, and it did get greasy after warmed up! I sometimes put a safe "green" windex on my hands and legs but even then, that isnt always enough.
Best bet, is to run in place and get your body temp up, and like they said get a little perspiration going. -

MemberJanuary 7, 2010 at 7:46 pm in reply to: Xpole vs Platinum Stages (removeable). I find that Chrome is the smoooooothest feeling of them all. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Venna, by smooth do you mean slippery?
when my brass is totally clean of any hand prints it is really slick, when i dont keep it polished is when it keeps up with its brass reputation! But i believe for poleSS they used some kind of chrome poles and they where brand-new but not as bad with the slick as i expected.
Just concerned for what I should be expecting for VPC! they use a chrome non-spinning. -

MemberJanuary 6, 2010 at 9:50 pm in reply to: Xpole vs Platinum Stages (removeable)im glad i found this topic!! i need help with this as we speak! lol
i’ve always order PS pole, just cause i like my things sent fast, and back 2 years ago, xpole was only overseas with international shipping, so i just ordered PS. But recently I want a xpole, because, 1. I have a brass, and everyone uses the Chrome for competitions and i am hoping and i think, it will have less slip than a brass (in winter, like you all are saying)
2. I can take the xpole around because it is in pieces. and they only sell the PS multi-peice in stainless steel, (NEVER BUY STAINLESS STEEL!) i HATE them ! it was extremely hard to work with and i could hardly climb and had to end up coating it with a clear spray paint.
So.. I am trying to get a xpole, and even though the PS pole spin faster, i think it is better to have a slower spinning pole because no matter how great you are, the G-force can throw you off , and i have ripped my PS pole from the ceiling during a super fast knee hold spin, and it went right through the wall – LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif
But anyway… can anyone tell me grips like the xpole chrome vs. my ol’ brass? I am really hoping i will see a difference. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif -
I am in Houston as well…I can’t do this pole jam, but maybe next time…Sapphirecatzeye I am not very experienced, but maybe we could chat and meet sometime. I would love to meet more people in the Houston area, especially polers!
yeah jessilee i would love to hang out and pole with you. maybe we should put together a mini jam in houston sometime in the coming months.
I really wanna come out to do this!! Just spent alot of $$ for tickets to get to vegas for VPC, i’m gonna try and do my best to convince my hubby to let me come up to dallas, I would love to share my stretching routine with you ladies! -
i think so, send them an audition video or some pictures!!
-
I’m coming from houston so i might be interested!! although i might come with my husband…dunno yet. he is the better driver lol!

is anyone going February 27th? I will be there! wanna see who all there is to meet and play with!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

i just recently learned this one, I do it from knee hold position now too, wish my camera was working or i would do a demo and put it in slow motion for you!!
the main trick is to be ready to curl your torso to be facing the ceiling as soon as you ‘drop’ also keeping your leg that will be making contact with the pole at all times tight and in a closed shape is important too. I also make the mistake of going slow at first. -
nothing should keep you from perusing what you want to do even more so if its a healthy athletic form of self expression. I only think pole dance might be more difficult when you get to higher levels, but it also depends on how athletic you are right now. I’m 5’5" and i think i’m kinda at the taller rage for alot of polers. but some of the greats are taller gals as well, felix and bobbi are tall women i believe, (or the appear so with their long legs)

im excited! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif i really hope i can come , i think i will be able to https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif it will be alot of fun to pole with everyone

Is this pole Jam still active?
And what exactly do you do at a pole jam or is it just lessons?Sapphire — If you can make it up, we’d LOVE to have you!! There will be all levels of folks coming, and it should be a lot of fun. I think we will also be going out and partying that evening. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

when I first started dancing I knew a girl who used a pair of white Pleaser boots everyday. Honestly I would not suggest going the boot route, because she got to the point where she could not do pole tricks with out them. Confidence and Fear is a HUGE factor to your learning (in my opinion) If you want to see what the boots can do for you, why don’t you buy them for at home training, and leave them when you go to work?

MemberDecember 29, 2009 at 6:36 pm in reply to: Crazy reverse grab variation… how?!I’ve done this one a few times, you should already be able to do front and back hook spins with one arm, and a teddy as well. For a split sec you will have to hold your weight with one arm, but the more important part is being flexible enough to get your legs up to your arm. Check this by seeing how far you can touch your toes or past that on the ground.
At first i tried by putting my pole on spin mode and just pulling my leg up to the pole to see if it would get up there when i was using my own momentum on static.
Hope this has helped a little!

I just spend a hour figuring out how to do it that quickly cause its so confusing from the video, but i got it, not only do you have to watch the leg movements but her torso as well seemed to be the major trick to it, its close to the end of a holly drop in the amount of time you have to catch the ending move.
