When doing a gemini, you want to treat you knee as a third hand. When you grip the pole where is your foot pointing??? It should be pointing as much to the floor as possible. Don’t let go with your hands until you become comfortable with your knee grip. Also, the pole should touch your side b/n your hip bone and bottom rib. I’ve found that if my body isn’t in the "perfect" position, it can still hurt a tad behind the knee. Good luck and as with most…ok all…pain comes with the territory. It will get better! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I love heels!! Just got two new pairs in yesterday as a matter of fact (7" are my fav). New moves are def done naked…
Something about heels just makes posture and body positioning in moves feel so much stronger!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Foxy…I read this post earlier and decided to hold off on my response so I could think a bit…here is what I recommend from my own experience.
The catapillar climb is a great conditioning exercise…this took me a while to get. This move gives you an opportunity to try different grips (split, elbow and forearm) to see which you prefer. I personally do the catapillar climb using the elbow grip. If you can’t quit get the "climb", can you just do a catapillar??
second, the extended butterfly is perfect for any kind of split grip moves (cartwheel mt, straight edge..etc). This is the move that I actually had to have down before attempting any of the others. You build the strength in your arms while still maintaining a pt of contact with your ankle. Then when you feel comfortable you can move on to doing the straight edge from it.
Deirdre has a great suggestion as using the floor before going aerial. I actually used this quite a bit…esp when I was learning how to do a brass monkey.
You already have the right idea on practicing hand stands…great strength builder for the arms plus you get more aclimated to being inverted with total support in the arms.
Good luck and I can’t wait to see your progress!

Charley…I actually have been self taught for the most part. The studio that I go to was mainly for the "open pole" sessions so I could mess around on her 14ft poles. After a couple weeks of me going up there, the owner asked me to come teach for her. I teach my first class this coming sunday. I will be teaching a couple of intermediate and advanced classes!! I am so excited. I get my keys to the studio and my "instructor" shirts tomorrow!! YAY!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I think this will be a great opportunity to watch how she runs her business and to "perfect" my teaching style along with seeing the ins and outs of owning a studio.

So here is another update! My superman is getting much much better…I can do it now with out making the "omg this hurts…constipated" face!
I also managed to do like half a dozen knee holds with actually letting go. I held one for almost 20 sec!!:) I figured out that I was having issues with my footplacement…once I corrected it…BAM!
Thanks everyone for the tips and if my pole and I decide to get along tonight I will try to make a vid!!
Happy poling! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

This was announced last year (2008) and I haven’t seen anything since. The pic is def photoshopped. That remote is HUGE! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I highly doubt that this will ever come to light…and I would be kinda glad if it dosen’t (esp under Peek-a-boo) just because it would probably come across as a joke and making fun of those that pole!
