The only right or wrong thing with a sm is whether or not you are engaging the muscles. Everyone is different as to which shoulder and which hand is on top/bottom. My right hand is dom and I put the pole on my right shoulder with my left hand on top and right on bottom…honestly it is best to practice both sides…the more variations you can do, the stronger the move will be! I would place the pole and your hands in the most "secure" feeling position. This is not an easy move and take is nice an slow. Have you been doing shoulder mt prances to help yourself get accustomed to where your body is?
I hate when instructors tell students that the pole HAS to be on this side or that side. We don’t all write with the same hand so why would we all pole on the same side????? AHHHH….I for one encourage my students to try both sides with everything! Good luck!

YAY!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Congrats and welcome to the upside down club!! In no time you will be flying all over the place. Great job on the pole sit! It’s amazing how something so "simple" is so freakin hard…and painful! Keep it up! As far as tips about what to do once you invert…just keep practicing the invert it’s self and then sliding down…as you get more comfortable you can move to doing a handstand and then working on the inverted crucifix..the list is endless! Just remember shoulders back and down…and lift from your core…no jumping! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

that’s a tough one Foxy! The only thing I could think is has your % body fat dropped a good bit lately?? I know that if you don’t have enough, that your visits can stop…just a thought…but you don’t look unhealthy at all…so I don’t know. Let us know what the dr says…good luck girl!

between your ankles??? for a cross ankle release, I have the pole b/n my thighs…now if I were doing an iguana mt or say an archer and wanted to pull back up onto the pole then I use more of a b/n the shin grip…but not as a hold and not for very long…
fear is one thing that I can honestly say I don’t have much of…especially when it is trying something new…now if I try something and it hurts like all get out…then maybe I’ll be a tad scared to do it again…https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif but only because I’m expecting the pain!
BTW…where did you decide to take your classes??

"So you’ve discovered the secret of pole dancing: it ain’t as glamorous and easy as it looks! It involves lots of grunting, sweating, red faces, and falling"
I love that quote! It is so true….
