Thanks V! Really when it comes to the instructor training that is mainly for myself…to see other styles. I have thought about the ACE/AFAA certs as well…lots to think about!

Thanks Angel. I actually came across that same training program, but I’m looking for something more on the east coast as I live in SC and travel across the country at the moment is not really an option (small kids, work, school etc.). I do like the fact that the price is much more fitness based verses industry based. I have been getting information on the CLimb and Spin training that is offered by NY Poledancing (Wendy Draskos (sp?) of the USPDF). I do like the idea of a governing body that supports the training…plus the training is part home study and part live study…which NY is a lot closer than CA…ughh

Which shoulder is it? closest to the floor or ceiling…are you keeping your shoulders back and down?? If you don’t, you could quite easily pull/strain the muscles in your neck and back.

Wow Alena! I didn’t realize that there were three different bum slides! I was actually talking about the handstand bum slide…but I would be interested in knowing what the other two are also! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

What business does your sister have telling YOUR son to get off of YOUR pole?? Plenty of boys/men pole and they have just as much right to do it as we do! Try showing her some of Jungle Cats or Joel (poledancefan) vids!

OMG…HAHAHA! I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve joked that someone might think I get beat up due to the bruises on my legs and upper inner arm (damn teddy!). I’ve noticed some "concerning" looks when I’ve worn short sleeve shirts…I just laugh! Oh the joys of pole!!

Okay so I will throw my two cents in here as this is one move that I have recently fell in love with. I usually get into it from a basic invert (pole is on my right side). I then place my right hand slightly below my knees, the left hand then comes below your head to grab the pole. Now I’ve seen this done two ways 1. with arm bent behind your head with hand cupped with your thumb closest to your neck. 2. bottom arm extended fully with hand cupped with fingers pointing more towards the floor. I have found that If I am just doing the reverse aysha (split V)then I used the first grip..but If I am working on doing reverse aysha to twisted grip straight edge split then I use the second. As with most pole moves..I’m not sure if there is technically right or wrong way of doing this. I personally think it’s about preference and what feels secure. Wikipole.org has a picture of both grips under split V or Back Split Marksman. I also think Bexboo on YT has a video of her doing "Karols twisted grip combo" which showes her going into the reverse aysha and then to twisted grip..just to give you a visuall! Hope this wasn’t too confusing!
