I’m pretty sure it was Felix who inspired me on this oneTwisted grip on the hand under the knee allows the shoulder to slide through the gap more easily. Don’t stretch the bottom hand too low, so you can use it to give you some space, and throw the pole behind your head.

I bet these would stick!
http://www.dancedirect.com/uk/Products/Urban-Dancewear/DS33/Actually there are quite a few on there that have PVC decoration that would stick!

Yep that looks like the top of the Alistage poles. This is the removable version (load spreading). Is that a screw? It looks like it has possibly been screwed to the ceiling so the load spreader is permanently up there, and the poles just slot on and off.
-
Alistage have been selling poles long before X-pole came along. They specialise in scaffolding, so can actually manufacture all sorts of fittings for different ceiling types, and know what they are talking about with regard to safety and ratings etc.
I’ve personally had these poles in my studio for 3 years. -
Alistage (Polestar).
http://www.alistage.co.uk/dance_poles.htmThey are definitely not permanent with those bases! (The tops might be, but your description of “white” makes me think they are the pressure mount top, but you haven’t posted a pic of that to confirm)

MemberMarch 26, 2014 at 5:56 am in reply to: How do I get the X joint out of my pole that has shifted from the hole?!Broom handle, up inside the pole. Bash it out from the inside. One hand on the joint, one hand on the pole part (you don’t want the joint to jut pop out and hit you on the foot, or damage your floor).
-
Yes AFAIK it’s pretty much the same to put up.
The hex keys/nuts are all fatter to make them stronger, and the little nubbin that stops the Xjoint from rotating (or didn’t!) is now a longer shape with corresponding slot in the pole. The adjuster cover doesn’t come down, you just line up the marks on the outside of the pole before doing up the nuts.

I have added general postcode areas to the London schools. -
I don’t know of any UK sellers who actually keep stock. We are re-sellers and as such (I personally) do not keep any stock of poles at all. When poles are ordered through me, they come from the X-Pole warehouse. We are subject to the same waiting times as X-Pole themselves.
I do sell mine with slightly cheaper delivery cost as an incentive for my customers to not buy direct from X-Pole. -
To dead lift it “holding” the pole you need very good flexibility. As if you can’t fold completely in 2, you will find the pole is in the way of where your back/butt needs to be to get the balance position.
I like to start with my hands a few inches from the base of the pole/wall, so that my back can use the space to tip over, then I can use the pole/wall behind me if I overbalance.
You do need to get your butt over the top of your shoulders before your feet can leave the floor. As someone else said, keep the straddle really wide.Think about going OUT first with your feet to get off the floor. Then it’s in the tilt of the hips to bring your legs up.
Practice the hip tilt with your back against the pole/wall. Start in a “top” position with your butt touching the wall. Bend your knees, then rotate your hips so your knees come as low as possible, you will feel more and more of your back touch the wall/pole. Then rotate the other way until it’s just your butt again. See how low you can get and go back up. (you’re bending your knees to make your levers smaller) -

Also – how great do her glutes look peeping over her shorts at the back!?
-
AWWW I *LOVE* how shadow walks in her shoes. It’s the purposefully-lazy floppy ankles. Classic stripper style
-
Don’t worry! 🙂
-
No I mean, that they came top in “POLE FIT” – both being more sensual/sexy in their styles and wearing heels.
-
Shadow was in IPC in 2009. Bizarrely she won the POLE FIT Category of that comp! (Alethea came 2nd in Pole Fit too – weird right!?)

MemberFebruary 11, 2014 at 5:50 am in reply to: questions about assembly of xpert–HELP!The hex screws and the adjuster cover are not physically linked. You definitely don’t NEED to undo the screws to take the cover down. But sometimes undoing them and starting to loosen the pole can take the stress off the threads in the cover allowing it to undo.

MemberFebruary 10, 2014 at 8:40 am in reply to: X-Pole stuck on spinning mode – is it fixable? If it’s the “hex” part that is stripped (and not the thread itself), then you can use blu-tak or something similar to hold the hex key in place to get the screws out (rather than having to buy a Grabit Tool). If they won’t come OUT, then take the foot off the pole, and you can try to continue inwards and they will fall out from inside.

There are a couple of places that try to keep a record, but stuff is happening all the time, and the hosts do try to advertise as much as possible (it’s not like they want to keep the workshops secret 😉 )
EverythingPoleDancing has a calendar/map of events, but again it’s only the ones that she’s got wind of. PDC has a calendar, but it’s up to the individual studios to list them (and as not many people look there, I haven’t really got any response from posting) -
I think I read somewhere that there was some “additional vote” that had it all had to go through to get to the olympic show?
-
Chem – mine had TWO as well! It was bizarre!

Back Splits.
Allegra Splits is both hands on the insides of your thighs (and in a box split – this picture is front splits)

Don’t think about letting GO with the legs! Just loosen enough to slide them up.
Personally I prefer elbow grip, used to hate it, but now feel much safer with it, I think because my contact point is higher.
I find that students trying forearm grip often end up forgetting to wrap enough, and try to just use their hand.
Also be aware if you are ending up hugging too much and using “bicep grip”. It’s not bad really, but it’s just good to know if you are using it, cos it’s NOT stable enough to take your legs off completely in that grip.
