What time are you trying to get it for? The Marion Amber has been kicking my butt and I'd love to learn it!

Me too! When is the grand opening?

Can't wait to see the finished product!

I used to wear Pleaser's X-Casino thigh high boots. They were great! Very thick and durable, as they do not stretch. They fit loosely around the thighs and zipped up the sides. They have a 4" platform with a 7 1/2" chunky heel. I never experienced them tearing on the pole. However, I haven't been able to find that exact boot any more. I do think they still make a "Casino" boot, though.

I find that the majority of my students who have this issue are using their ankles to hold up most of their weight instead of their knees. You should be squeezing front to back with your ankles and side to side with both knees and thighs. With a strong climb (crucifix, especially), at any time you should be able to take either your ankles or your thighs off the pole and still be able to stay up. Everyone under-estimates how important that knee grip is!

Chemmie, I don't like to get into the superman from a pike either but I almost always get out of it by ending in a hip hold! 🙂

You can start learning it by putting your bottom hand on the pole and guide yourself into place. Once you're comfortable with that you can bypass that step. 😉

Nymph, I totally agree with that!

10 girls/5 poles is the max I'd be comfortable with. -

I think 10 is the max I'd be comfortable with and that's pushing it!

I'm currently working on the Iron X, the Phoenix, and the Russian Splits. 🙂

I calculated mine based on my calorie counter app. I am 118 lbs and do 90 minute advanced level classes. I broke it down int he app as 15 minutes of stretching/yoga, 15 minutes of light calethsenics, 30 minutes of heavy calethsenics, and 30 minutes of dance (fast-paced). When I added up the calories burned from those activities it came up to 213 calories. Of course, this is a very personal estimate as not everyone's classes are the same but you can use your app the same way! 🙂

Yeah, I don't think the hotel shuttle will take me that far! 😉

I've never done a formal yoga class – just done a couple of DVDs but I really like "Yoga for Regular Guys". It's athletic and doesn't focus on the meditation part. That's why I like it so much….the internal part of some styles just isn't my thing.

Oh, love this topic! Can't wait to see everyone's favorite combos and try them out!
I do this one quite a bit:
Side Climb > Knee Hold > Shooting Star > Cloud 9 (no hands shooting star) > Superman > Hip Hold > Jade > Flatline Scorpio
Or I'll change it up after the Superman like this:
Dove > Figurehead > Aerial Shoulder Mount > Brass Monkey > Eros > Brass Monkey Sit Up > Pole Sit > Drop into splits
I need to learn the Veena Tumble so I can do that after the Pole Sit!

I saw those guns you’re sporting! Must have been the slippery pole. 😉

C’mon Sparrow, I can do this so I KNOW that you are strong enough to do it!

Add Pole Dance Community's syllabus to that list. They've got some unique moves on there (and, unfortunately, call some things by names other than the standard) but it's still a good resource.

Ideally, I'd have at least 6' of space all around the pole but you can get away with less. I have 4 1/2' around mine now which means no straddling into reverse grab and being careful of where I start my handspring.
But hooping requires much more space than poling if you want to dance while hooping or do a lot of off-body stuff with it. There's a move where you hook your hoop on your foot and bring it around your back to pass to your hand – that requires around 6' and doesn't give you much play. Personally, bare minimun I'd want for hooping is a 10'x10' space and I think I'd still feel too boxed in. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

I don't get the rub that you're talking about but did have it rubbing over my collarbone when doing the move with a double cup grip. I think I was pressing my shoulder into it longer than I should have been.
I finally got this move down to a point that I'm comfortable with it last night and was doing it with the Veena/safe grip. That grip made me feel secure enough that I didn't press into the pole too hard and kept it from rubbing my collarbone. Maybe try that grip?
Leg positioning is something that I'll be playing with to see what I prefer but I'm with you – I think Marlo's way looks very pretty!

Awesome! This is a combo that 's been on my "to do" list for a while now and your video may be just the motivator I need to try it out. 🙂

Empyrean, please thank your husband for his time in the response. I will be sure to call or submit the form before we make any decision in how payment will happen.
