I took a workshop with Phoenix here in sac and she was very attentive to everyone’s levels of pole. She was very good at adjusting the moves and breaking them down. I was not as advanced as a couple other girls in there but it didn’t matter, she took the time to help us all no matter where we were at. Got my first Allegra with her 🙂 a lot of bruises and very sore but very worth it 🙂 good luck!!

Thx again. I am fairly new to knee holds/moves…so I figure some pain/bruising at first but this was crazy muscle pain, I am used to the skin pulling stuff but muscles ow!! I am going for a massage on Friday ($20 for an hour in auburn,ca!!), although my calf will probably be better…u can always use a massage right!!! 😉

Ok from what I saw on u tube it is called a marley spin. I did see one girl do it without her hand one her foot but the rest of them grabbed the top foot and most of them went in to grab both feet. So sorry not cupid, it’s marley…but pain may be the same since they both knee hold moves maybe? Now that I think about it when I wrote the post I think I said I was spinning backwards but I wasn’t I was spinning forward.

Thx rosemay 🙂 I used my friends foam roller last night and have been massaging my calf. It is feeling better i just have a little soreness behind my knee now. U can do the spinning one with no hands? When I did Cupid on static I was able to not hold my foot but when I did the spinning one, where u are upside down and the lower foot is not on the pole it is behind it, I didn’t think it could be done without a hand on that top foot? I’m going to u tube..maybe I don’t have the correct name for the move or just haven’t seen it done with no hands. Thx for the advice!!

Can u recommend any good certification websites? I would like to b certified but idk who is legit and who isn’t. I have found certs that cost $400 per phase with 4-6 phases!! That’s a lot of money!! Plus i am in sac and there doesn’t seem to b anything here. Thx webmaster 🙂

My nemesis and most feared: CAR!! Ckr is ok :/ but I don’t feel stable in either one. I just slip, I have yet to find the sweet spot on my thighs where I feel secure. I can do inverted crucifix and other upside down moves, I can do plank and superman (for short time), wrist sit, new to advanced plank…but idk why, besides fear, that I can’t do car!! Squeeze my butt, turn knees in…just doesn’t feel like I will stick!!! Ugh soooo frustrating!!

Never tried foot undies…but have u tried jazz shoes? They have them in black and nude and they are comfortable. Doesn’t even look like u are wearing shoes if u get the nude ones.

I worked as an exotic dancer for 6.5 years. It gave me the money and flexibility I needed to be able to go to school. A few years into dancing I had my first baby and continued going to school. I earned my A.S. and continued dancing and school. I quit dancing shortly before transferring to U.C. Davis to earn my B.S. in animal science & management. My goal was to to be a veterinarian and have my bachelors as a back up.
I quit dancing because my boyfriend (now husband) wanted me to stop and told me that he would take on the responsibility of paying for my schooling so I didn’t have to work, I could take care of my son and school.
Things change and I decided I didn’t want to be a veterinarian. So after earning my B.S. I worked as a veterinary technician for almost 4 years, until I had my daughter. Now I am a stay at home mom. Never thought back in 1998-2004 I would be taking my clothes of for money to get me through school and here I am 2012 a happy stay at home mom about to open a company with my husband. I am using my schooling (the management portion anyhow) and hope to go back to animals part time when my youngest gets into school.
A lot of girls in the industry went to school…some made it and some got caught up in the lifestyle. Interesting life indeed!!! No regrets!! I learned sooo much about myself and other people. I would love to write a book about it one day!!
Another interesting point I’m learning is that u don’t have to b educated to be successful!! Like I said before I have a bachelors and I don’t use it to its full potential…my husband got kicked out of school in 7th grade and never went back and he is starting his own company and makes over $100k a year. Hard work, confidence, determination, and a vision is all you really need to be successful…it doesn’t matter what educational background u came from or what job you used to get there. It’s kind of like pole!!

I’m a 32 yo mom of two (boy 11yo & girl 17 months) I got stretch marks in my inner thighs with my son and a small one on my stomach. I got very faint ones on my tummy after my girl. Sometimes I feel weird about them especially in pole clothes but I have to remember how far I’ve come and what I have. I weigh less than I did before my girl and my boy and the most important my children are happy and healthy…to me it was worth the war wounds 🙂
Also what I have noticed from all of these pole videos i have been watching/studying on you tube and studio veena, I haven’t noticed one purple, gray, silver, red, white, or clear stretch mark on anyone!!!!! That is because, as a poler, you (and even spectators) are looking at the whole picture. The beautiful lines your body makes when u r in a move or the fluidity of your body as you do a move (that may expose your imperfections). It’s the whole picture that I see.
It’s just like when u see a beautiful perfect woman or man and then they talk or act a certain way and your outlook is changed!! Suddenly they could be the ugliest person you have seen. It’s all on the inside!!! In pole I could start off seeing a overly heavy person with cellulite and stretch marks (if I inspected closely for imperfections) and then they dance whether they are good or bad, and I can see no imperfections at all. Beauty from the inside can come out and cover all that someone is afraid of, u just have to b open enough to share your raw emotions whether by talking, actions, dance, or other.
The courage and fearlessness it takes to expose your body, your ability, and your emotions will hide any imperfection you have on your body any day!!!!!
