My stepdaughter is just entering the preteen years and it scares the hell out of me. All the things I dealt with when I was young, I am scared of her having to deal with. I know everyone has to learn to cope, but it’s so hard when it’s your kid and not yourself.
For kids not into martial arts, does anyone have any experience if basic mediation skills can help avoid fights like these? Not getting a mediator, but teaching conflict resolution skills?

Just one thing about "staying positive" – I’ve got Crohn’s disease which, in my teens and 20s was a big problem, and one thing that really helped, and has helped when I’ve been ill with other things, as well, is NOT staying positive.
Not that I mean becoming a whining, hopeless, despair-laden person. I just mean, these things are scary and it’s not natural to be upbeat and cheery when you’re scared. Or when you’re grieving for the loss of your own health. I know it’s really popular now to say keeping a positive attitude is the key, but there’s a fine line between keeping a sense that thing might come together well in the end, and forcing a smile on your face no matter what you really feel. Your body heals by moving through emotions (that’s one reason dance is so powerful), so never block your fear or your sadness. Let them flow, and you’ll feel better and be better able – physically and emotionally – to cope with whatever is happening.
Lots of love to you!

Glitter, this is so why we love you! You take what is such a hard time for you and your family, and turn it right around to help others. Thank you!
And, to Litlebit, you are one tough lady! Hugs!

This is so encouraging! I’ve been working on splits this year, too. Used to be able to do side splits with ease, but everything’s locked up lately from too much sitting at the computer. Been stretching more, though, and it’s helping!

It was an AWESOME interview! Fleur, people have been going crazy about it – from Facebook to the post to Twitter. We LOVE you!!!

Ooh, I’m really wanting to know about this, too! I have a webcam built into my laptop, but I’ve been eye-ing the Flip. Just not sure if it’s worth making the switch.

As pole dancing becomes more commonplace, the school will adapt. So go where you can be appreciated – and don’t change your sexy style to cater to somebody’s false-superiority complex. Dance from the heart and people will love you all the more for it!

Loving the video! You have such a natural sensuality in how you move. Beautiful!

Awww, you guys are the sweetest – thank you!
