That is so kick@ss!!! Lucky!!!!

I posted another vid of my first day practice. I am going to post yesterday’s practice soon.
Unfortunately my editing software is not very good at compressing my vids. I have Adobe Premiere so if anyone has any pointers?? I tried exporting my vid in different formats but it just didn’t work well enough. I am much more used to Final Cut Pro which is my favorite but I don’t have the money to buy it.

I got my pole yesterday… danced a few hours yesterday and today too. I have vid up on YouTube… just a few short clips from late last night. I have yet to post a vid from today.

These look supa hot! I wish I had tons of money because I think I’d get multiples with different designs. Saving link now……..

Well now that my pole finally came in I think I might have to figure something out for the challenge. Hmm… *creative juices running*

I don’t know if I should put this link here or in the vids/pics dept. Meh… I can’t upload this to SV because it is too big.

I had a pair of clear Ellie shoes and over time the plastic got brittle (best way to describe it). One of the straps broke off so I decided to just cut them off from both shoes and I do not feel as secure in them as I used to. The straps add a good amount of stability.

I haven’t been here long but it already feels like family! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

More like lots and lots of ice water and a cooling shower to wash off me sweat. Hahaha… ewww. The picture Platinum Stages has on their website of a girl pulling her case like it was air is a joke! The box said 10kg but I’d say 10+ haha! I already noticed how grippy it can be once it is warmed up.

OMG I just got my pole today and I noticed my hand doesn’t move from its initial position and my wrist/arm ends up wrapping around the pole. That is soooo bad, no? Looking at my instructional vids it doesn’t seem like other people’s hands/wrists do that. At first I get really sweaty hands and then I get so grippy I can’t move my hands. OY! I am trying to teach myself to release my hand grip a bit but I’d love to hear other thoughts on it.
As far as core goes… pilates, yoga… and you can use your pole too! There are a few clips on ExpertVillage (I watch them in YouTube) and this one instructor shows how to use the pole to strengthen your obliques, back, etc.

People need to think outside the box and I think it scares them. They rather stick to a formula and go with what they know. It will be a positive thing to do what feels right for you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Bwahahaha! Fire department… that is a good one!

I love wheat germ and psyllium. Both are a great source of fiber and protein.
I love to jog with the doggies… Bellydance… Yoga & pilates and other strength traingin workouts…
"Let’s get physical!"

From what I understand push-ups help strengthen your wrists as well as wrist dumbell curls (slowly tilt the hand up and down with a weight in it).

That happened to me when I overdid my bellydance shoulder moves. It wasn’t fun… I almost thought it was carpel tunnel. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I just did a lot of soft stretching and asked for lots of massages from the hubby.

MemberJune 16, 2009 at 8:52 am in reply to: I’m sooo not ever letting my husband watch me practice again*sigh* I haven’t gotten my pole yet but I don’t imagine myself practicing in front of my hubby. Maybe once I get comfortable enough I might give him a show but only if he’s been good. You know, I don’t even like to workout in front/with the hubby. I’m trying to lose weight and when I follow Kathy Smith videos he ALWAYS manages to make a crack at them … saying stuff like, "Yeah girls! Just work it! Tighten those buns! C’mon!" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif We don’t like big muscle-y men yelling at us telling us what losers we are to "pump us up". Most gals like positive reenforcement and yeah, some corny motivation. So what do I do? I kick him out and tell him I don’t appreciate his negative attitude when I’m trying to do something positive for myself. He usually gets this stunned look on his face that I’m hurt by his comments. I don’t think men get it. They have to be told point-blank because they are like babies. He usually ends up apologizing but I made up my mind a long time ago to never work-out with him.

MemberJune 16, 2009 at 8:30 am in reply to: Can you guys tell me if I’m being too sensitive?I’m not a mommy but I am going through a similar situation with my baby brother. I see my brother getting a lot of stuff that I would have never gotten in HS (new TV in the bedroom, awesome video game console, etc.) I think parents expect a lot more from their first child. I see it with my friends… the ones with one kid fret over everything the baby/child does whereas parents with multiple kids kinda go, "Meh." In my situation I see it as a give and take. When I was in HS my parents were a lot younger and we used to do a lot of physical things together (go hiking every weekend for an entire day or walk around a city and go to all the museums). My parents are older now and don’t do that with my brother as much so maybe they try to compensate with material objects? Sorry, I could go into this but I have to keep it short… I have to get going. But here, have some *hugs* https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

name: Not going to give out my real name, sowwy!
age: 26
location: I’m a nomad… USA & Europe mostly.
stage name: I’d probably just use my first name because I really like it but until (and if) I perform I don’t want to give it out.
lessons or self taught: Self-taught. I am just learning the language of the country I’m living in so I wouldn’t know even where to find classes or if I’d understand the teacher. I’d love to take classes though… get instant feedback and meet other polers.
spin or static: Haven’t got my pole yet but I imagine I’ll stick with static as I learn new moves but I know I will love spinny mode.
shoes or barefoot: Barefoot mostly and shoes if I’m in the mood to be sexah!
favorite pole move: I still have to learn the names of pole moves and I wouldn’t know for myself because I’m waiting for my pole. When I watch other polers’ vids I like… The Swan? (The one where one leg is wrapped around the pole and the other one is grabbed up high by an arm). I also love seeing body-rolls while the dancer is in a Straight-Knife. Yogini… Suicidi drops…
day job: Doggy mommy, housewife, volunteer, costumer.
your best/sexiest feature: Eyes *wink wink*
how you got into pole dancing: I love dance and strength-training and pole dancing seemed like a perfect combo of the two.
how you found out about studioveena.com: Watching Tara Karina’s vids on YouTube.
if you were a pair of underwear would you be a thong, boy shorts, bikini cut or granny panties: Thong and bikini mostly, and a few boy shorts. My undies have to be low-cut though, none of that 80’s pulled up to the waist stuff for me. -
I am still waiting for my pole but I’m watching the Vertical Dance set to get prepared. Once I get my pole I will be posting videos, and looking for tips and constructive criticism. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
