They seriously need to make it more affordable. I can't imagine that they sell much of it cuz it costs as much as the pole itself.

I really want one of those too!! I also want a grip tease sleeve.

You should only be doing intensive stretching two maybe three times a week and just regular maintenance stretching on the other days. like Runemist said, if you overdo it you can cause stiffness and tightness in the muscles.

@ hookedonpole: I'm in Davis so let me know if you plan something 😀
@Feed Stacy Tacos: if you ever want a pole buddy let me know, I'm fairly close to you and I've got the TG if you ever wanna try it.

I gotta say Felix Cane cuz she was the first professional pole dancer who's video I saw. It got my hooked instantly and she's always doing amazing things.

I learned the shouldermount before the handspring. Both are extremely dangerous moves which need to be executed properly or they can result in injury or paralysis. you need to build up the proper amount of strength in order to do them safely.

I 4th what Chem said. I have a popcorn ceiling and other than the fact that it was a bitch to find the stud in the ceiling, my pole has been working great on my ceiling.

The best way I've found is to do strength training and cardio with pole. It's great for building muscle which speeds the weightloss process up (the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn on a daily basis). I'm doing pole for weightloss as well and its helped me lose 13 lbs. The one most important thing to understand is everyone progresses at their own rate. I used to compare myself to others in the beginning and it was really discouraging for me. Once I accepted that it was going to take me longer before I could do certain tricks because I had more weight to lift, I became happier.

MemberOctober 10, 2012 at 12:46 am in reply to: Twisted Grip handspring- back/ shoulderblade painI've had that pain once before and I want to say it was due to sloppy orientation of my body. If you align yourself correctly to the pole, when you kick up into a handspring, you shouldn't feel any back pain. If you are sticking your shoulder out either forward or backwards, it will cause strain on the back muscles.

Eva, if your ceilings are 13ft and you can install a permanent pole, go with a one piece pole from platinum stages. They cut their poles to fit your ceiling height. If you can't install a permanent pole or don't want to, go with either an x-stage from x-pole or a star stand alone from ps.
-
i just tried this from a wrist sit and was almost there when my bottom leg started to cramp up
-
@Eva: multipiece poles can go up to 12 ft. after that, they reccommend getting a one piece pole which is more stable after that height. If you want to go over that height I also recommend buying a permanent ceiling mount for added safety and stability
-
@eva, you just need to make sure that you have solid ceilings and can use a stud finder to find a joist to put the pole under. if you don't, you'll need to invest in a stage if you want to pole at home.

Tell the owner that they are out there and she can have them removed. I'm sure she doesn't want people out there scaring off her students.

This is so cool!! I wanna learn that one day!

I had acupuncture done for a couple months at a community clinic (group setting) and it helped for a little bit with my stomach problems but eventually it stopped working. I had a knee injury for a little bit though and I had her put the needles in my knee and it helped a ton!
-
That's Awesome!!! you got the same pole as me, isn't it amazing?? finding the stud in the ceiling was the hardest part for me cuz I have popcorn ceiling.
-
let it all out girl! Lol, I'm probably gonna post a rant too in a little bit. What I would do is start looking for another job and then when you find one, put in your two weeks notice (or whatever notice you are supposed to give) and tell your boss you just couldn't work with someone who treats people that way.

MemberSeptember 17, 2012 at 9:58 am in reply to: Marihuana: for, against or neutral?I can try to find it tonight. I technically qualify for a cannibis card because I deal with bad nausea and severe stomach pain almost on a daily basis but I choose not to get it. Instead I switched my meds and started taking more supplements and its been helping.

I would just tell her that you don't want to perform but would love to help. Just tell her you don't feel comfortable doing it in front of an audience, let alone in your class. Honesty is usually the best policy

@Stormcat, thats what I was thinking too!

MemberSeptember 16, 2012 at 4:34 pm in reply to: Marihuana: for, against or neutral?I'm against it because so many people abuse it and there actually are adverse affects on the body from it. http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2012/08/22/1206820109.abstract. It can cause neurological damage (like smoking of any kind). My personal belief is the only things acceptable to inhale on a regular basis is air and an inhaler (for asthmatics only).

My abs stretch when I do backbends but its my spine that gets in the way. I'll be doing bridges and my abs will stretch and then my spine's like "haha no".
