I think that Allure range from Pleaser is pretty wearable as well. It all depends on the top of the shoe I would say. But Glitter, you are so right with the Bordello, they are adorable!

Oh donnalee, I totally feel you. I've been working on this move forever. And no matter what entry method I use, no matter how much I open my legs when I flip into the position, my hips never drop. The pole just gets kind of stuck between my thighs (and I don't even cross my ankles). So my superman still looks a lot like the one Leen Isabel drawn in her blog 😀

Oh wow, thank you Platinum Stages for offering this, I feel like a superstar now. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif
The truth is, I have no idea how these sponsored jams work, I'd love to know more.
So far nobody got in contact with me so I'm just planning to attend regular classes in The Girls Room Irving and Crescent Moon FW. Don't want to be without poling even on my holiday! 🙂

Sooo, I'll be in the DFW area from 6th to 18th November, unfortunately I'm not gonna make it to Florida. Any polers up for a jam? I'd love to meet you guys.

I have danced on both X-Stage and X-Stage Lite and I like the Lite better. For me both are comparably stable, the poles on both still wobble a bit (but that's to be expected) and I just like the fact that the base of the Lite is much lower to the ground which makes transitions and floorwork much easier.

Do share, pretty please 🙂

Chem, thanks so much for all your tips! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
I'm not in the US so I don't know benadryl. But I googled it and it looks kind of antihistamine, right? I might find something similar here and give it a shot.
And barrier cream is a great idea, I'll have to find out what it is called in my language and if we have it in our tiny country. My hairdresser uses hairwax in a stick when she dyes my hair. And it works great btw https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif.

Sorry, didn't finish the last sentence, LOL.
We're going to clean all the poles thoroughly tomorrow, with hot water and dishwashing liquid, then some alcohol. Fingers crossed for me, I hope that helps.

I just wanted to follow up on this and let you know that my allergy gets actually worse with every visit to the studio https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif. The studio I go to uses chrome X-poles and they teach about 6 classes a day Monday to Friday with occasional jams on the weekends. So yeah, a lot of pole use. Is it possible that the chrome plating on the poles is already worn off and I'm actually allergic to the material that is underneath? Nickel possibly? I had a reaction once to a necklace I bought in Egypt but other than that I have never had any issues with jeans buttons, belt buckles or watches…. And also it was thanks to this post that made me think about the whole thing again: http://twistedgrip.blogspot.com/2011/06/suffering-for-art.html Hope that some of you will find it useful.
It makes me really sad as I love poling and love my studio and don't want to give them up just for some stupid but unbelievably awful itching and bumps.

Goodness, did it sound like my pole sistas don't wash? Nooooo https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I mean, of course we clean the poles during the class and I know my pole buddies and know their hygiene habits are spotless, LOL, it's just that every person's body chemistry is different and I just might have some kind of a reaction to it.

I pole on chrome X pole and up until recently I hadn't had any problems with my skin. Recently, especially after we started practising the group routine, there has been couple of instances of severe and very itchy rash on the places that are in direct contact with the pole and I came up with a list of factors that might have caused it.
Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to test them separately because of the nature of the training, so I cannot tell which one is responsible but I hope it will at least help you to identify your problems:
– using anything else than rubbing alcohol for cleaning the pole. I carry around a small spray bottle of it so I use it religiously but if I forget, there is something like Windex in my studio and I'm afraid one of its ingredients may do nasty things to my skin
– grip aids: I hardly ever use any, but the girls in the group like to use iTac 2, maybe my skin doesn't like the resin?
– sharing the pole: I hate to admit that I may be so squeamish but I might just be allergic to other people's sweat. With group routine there's no way to get out of it because you will never have a completely clean pole just before your turn.
Maybe it's just one of them, maybe it's the combination of all of them but the itching is driving me crazy at nights! LOL

I just came across this youtube channel couple of days ago: http://www.youtube.com/user/AcquaPole
Their classes are obviously meant mainly for non-polers as yet another tweak to aqua aerobics, but it looks like a lot of fun and hard work! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I can imagine it could be brought to totally different levels by trained synchro swimmers. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Congratulations LopsiJulie!!! I actually did it too!!! I'm absolutely thrilled. I was playing around with regular Caterpillar (forearm grip), then I just tried the elbow grip and it felt so much safer to slide my legs up the pole!!! Yay!! Righty looks good from the beginning, need to work more on lefty, as it's still a little unstable.
Yipeee, I gave myself a cool birthday present! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Wow, thank you everyone for your input.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I can pull up with my hamstrings, I literally crouch upside down on the pole, my shoulders are strong too…. It's just that I can't move my legs up. I'm using the forearm grip, are the hips supposed to go away from the pole as much as possible when moving the legs up?
-
I'm wondering about this one too. I can do the Caterpillar but I can't for the life of me do the Caterpillar climb/move my legs up the pole. Maybe I'm too scared to let go of the pole with my legs even though I know it's nowhere near Aysha or Straight Edge. I don't know. It feels weird. Are there any prep moves I can do to get the mechanics right?
