I remember my first class and trying some things that I htought loked pretty simple and got discouraged when i couldnt do it- Just know its normal in the beginning- but be persistent in your efforts and you will be amazde at your progress- you kind gain momentum- Its slow at first to build those muscles- once you get goint, you bio;d strength, confidence- and nothing will stop you! I dont know if you cheked out veenas lessons at all too- I do those as well and her strength routine really helped me in the beginning. Good luck o your journey- welcome to our community and keep us updated in your progress! Videos are a great reminder of where youve been also on those days you get a bit frustrated- just look at where youve come form- even now w your weight loss and be proud! Its a journey so enjoy the whole ride!

The side effects really arent that dangerous anymore- especially if you find a qualified dr. Im not surprised your general dr hasnt heard of it- it is a specialty and in dermatologist offices-but it is not a rareity! Lots of people get it under their underarms as ell for excessive sweating. If you watch groupon- if money is an issue – botox deals come up a lot! Trul;y if you tried everything else and it is effecting your poling everyday , I would at leats get a consultation- it WORKS! My step mom works for a dermatologist and they do this a lot!!!!

My daughter has had wrist surgery recently- Our OT recommended juggling of all things!
We were a bit surprissed but it has done wonders for her… Using OT hand balls she can do grip strengthening too with
Dont have time at the moment about the strength training- but thought of that when you said hand surgery…
Its helped her grip, coordination, mental focus, pain, anxiety… who would have known!

static strecthing before a workout can decrease strength up to 30%! Thats HUGE!!!
Read http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/02/sports/playmagazine/112pewarm.html
I dont think as polers we can afford to loose 30% of our upper body strength before a workout.
I just learned this info myself and have totally revamped my workouts to achieve maximun performance potential.

Well Angel they cant take away all that knowledge you piled up and youve got it and have applied it and taken full advantage of it! I think it has served you well! I love your training and find it to be right on the $. I think the fact that the test wasnt so overwhelming is reassuring to a lot of people however.
Similar thing happenned to me w my opening innspection for my ALF- I worked SOO hard to bring my building up tp code- did a walk through before w the inspector of what was wrong when I got the building ( a lot) – worked my a$$ off fixing everything and when she came back to inspect- she barely looked in the rooms and passed me. I was ticked!!! I worked soo hard and I wanted her to inspect every room, door, nick and corner I had made perfect!! lol
I wanted proper total recognition for all my hard work!!

It makes me sad to think peole think you have to be a certain size to participate in something that makes them feel good or improves their quality of life by working out on in any form! Whats so womderful about pole these days is it is a commuity for all women of evey shape and size to be embraced, conect with themsleves and other polers.. Fact is that men are not attracted to just size alone- CONFIDENCE is the #1 thing that they find attractive.I know men werent mentioned.. but just saying- confidence rules! Women should pursue their love and passion regarless of their size- confidence will grow, self awarenmess and as a nice side effect, a physical improvement on theor body- Most polers arent dancing for the attention of the general public or their opinion- but for themselves and their own self awareness and pleasure. I definitely wouldnt let body size shape build hold you or anyone else back form pursuing a passion. Confidence and acceptance is what we need for ourselves and as a community. As women grow in awareness of their bodies, their self confidence grows which affects all aspects of their lives. Those models of ftv are just not what is realistic- they are for the most part underweight and unhealthy role models for women a nd our childrento try to aspire to be. We need to be healthy, strong, confident and not worry about conforming to the media image of thin- To think it would hold a woman back fromobatining her full potential and self discovry is just sad to me. I htink very few of us are aspiring to be professional competitors- we are for the most part here for prsonal reasons for self growth- physically and mentally. 🙂
I havent done belly dance but have always wanted to- Im actually serian and always thought it would be a good way to honor my heritage by learning!

MemberJanuary 21, 2012 at 3:56 am in reply to: Pain in glutes when straddle stretchingYes, try foam rolling!! Sounds like your talking about the the area where the glutes meet the external rotators. You could have a knot or an adhesion – or just a shortenng of the muscles or tendons form even your posture when you try to stretch in the area which is causing the pain . Put as much pressure as you can tolerate w the roller and roll back and forth in small movements- depending on how tender it is for you, try 30- 60 seconds. It will eventually release and realign and give you more range of motion here.-If its just tightness causing the problem. Warm up before you do your stretches in that position (or any for that matter) then gradually increase the range of motion in your stretch where you are meeting the resistance. It might take you some exra work- but it will be worth it! Is it bilateral sides your feeling the pain or just one and may be possible you pulled a muscle? BE careful and listen to your body.. and let us know how it works out! – veen a has foam roller lessons on this area as well…

I forgot about coconut oil- its awesome as well! Its a bit pricy. I used to get mine at whole foods but recently have found it available ion a large jar at walmart! If you can afford that- exfoliate w the cocunut oil! Like mentioned, you canuse it on your hair- its good for your body, I put a tsp in my smoothies each am. Good stuff!!

aveeno is good for polers too- I think they make a body wash- you can use in the shower and exfoliate and then use their moistiurizer afterwards.
Tough cause you dont want something taht will affect your poling..but dry skin can be just as bad!
OTC- if aveeno doesnt do the trick,I used body butter bliss form Ulta- its a high end moisturizer that didnt leave a heavy residue and I could still pole w if I used on my off days
Deeper moisturizer- Avene cold cream- I get from my dermatologist – its for dry chapped scaly areas.. Much thicker and deeper penetrating. Maybe if you used something heavier like that on non pole days then applied the huskers, youd still get enough tack and would counter the slickness of the moisturizer.
cetaphil is also good for poling but from the sounds of it, you will need something heavier.
Not tried w pole and not sure how this would work out- but in the shpwer- baby oil w the exfoiliator- the oil put on wet will lock in moisture. I dont know how this would translate to the pole though…
my step mom works for a dermatologist and this is what he told her to do in the harsh winter mo to prtoect her skin.
Id experiment with the combinations and see what you get since everyone reacts differently.

Studying this myself at the moment too!
Short answer- dynamic stretches before you start poling are necessary to warm up the body and bring blood to the tendons and areas you will be working and help prevent injury.
After your workout when you are warm you want to do your static stretches.
You are right- holding a static stretch before a work out will actually decrease your strength and performance. So..
short of the story
dynamic stretch first
static stretch last

One more tidbit of information… I believe this thread originally got high jacked by Veena herself!! lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif Cant believe I just found a penis head smiley

and now all of the proper anatomical names and descriptions so we are all well educated on penis structure, form, anatomy… Study up girls!
The penis is the male sex organ, reaching its full size during puberty. In addition to its sexual function, the penis acts as a conduit for urine to leave the body.
The penis is made of several parts:
• Glans (head) of the penis: In uncircumcised men, the glans is covered with pink, moist tissue called mucosa. Covering the glans is the foreskin (prepuce). In circumcised men, the foreskin is surgically removed and the mucosa on the glans transforms into dry skin.
• Corpus cavernosum: Two columns of tissue running along the sides of the penis. Blood fills this tissue to cause an erection.
• Corpus spongiosum: A column of sponge-like tissue running along the front of the penis and ending at the glans penis; it fills with blood during an erection, keeping the urethra — which runs through it — open.
• The urethra runs through the corpus spongiosum, conducting urine out of the body.An erection results from changes in blood flow in the penis. When a man becomes sexually aroused, nerves cause penis blood vessels to expand. More blood flows in and less flows out of the penis, hardening the tissue in the corpus cavernosum

OK I couldnt resist since this was a thread about education…

Pushed enter too soon… Use a loufa sponge in the shower and really scrub off the skin before you put on the corn huskers.. Maybe will stop the peeling a bit for you. Of course theres all kinds of exfoiliator products but soe elbow grease a nd a loufa work wonders- You can lube up w the corn huskers too and it will soften after a hot shower, or soak in a bath w a bit of the huskers to penetrate, then rescrub- then you can loose skin and keep the tackiness. You dont want to put too heavy of a moisturinzer on cause then youll run in to slipping. Id scrub scrub and try again w the corn huskers. Make s.ure you drink lots of water too so you can stay hydrated
-
I have used aveeno oatmeal for awhile and found it to pretty good and not cause too much slipperiness, but lately CORN HUSKERS is the bomb! Moisterizes and leaves a nice tack- and its cheap! Would def recommend it! Then theres always the pole products like – I honestly have found the corn huskers to be a better solution for me.Let us know what you find works for you!
-
I did insanity- You do adjust to the intensity- You probably should have a small snack before you do it if your tiring out too quickly- something small high carb, low fat like a banana.. then after your workout fuel back w a protein when your'e done. Good luck w it! I remember doing lots of varied push ups in the program so you should be ok w upper body. I dont think anything will work the same muscles like actual pole though so Id jump on when you can to maintain those specific areas! Good for you guys to be doing iot together!
-
ahhaaa you guys are a bunch of help and a bunch of laughs!!
Im getting the coloring book now- for the sole reason of coloring the penis. Will be my new anatomy profile pic. lol Gotta learn. Or maybe Ill magic marker my hubbies.
@Pegasus- I STILL want to talk to you- I havent forgotten you. My daughter was in the hospital again- and now my aunt is in the hospice house so bewteen them and the ALF Ive had my days BOOKED! Things should calm down very soon. 🙂 Then anatomy and aerial and business talks to be had!
