I would suggest that you select a few moves that you want to learn and do pole goals monthly or bi-monthly. I always include improved fluidity and/or floorwork as a part of my goals. You can look at my blogs to get an example of what I do. I belong to a studio so they keep me learning something new and challenging my strength. Do you belong to a studio?

Not an M.D. but a J.D. I should start one for those in the law. 🙂 Great idea you had….

I am certainly interested.

My progress is going very slowly. I think I’ve actually lost flexibility on my left side split and gained about 1/2 inch on my right….feeling a little discouraged.

I am considering going to this benefit also. It will be great to meet you both. It looks like a worthy and exciting time.

I am an attorney and I am very secretive about it except within my own firm where I am the lead partner. I ran for judge a few years ago before I discovered pole and everyone keeps asking me if I will run again. I refuse to run because I don’t want to give up my love of pole. So sad that I have to choose but that is the way life is…..it would be an outright scandal if I won (unlikely) and continued poling. 🙁

Mhoney, I have never done a challenge but my understanding is that the answer to your question is yes. You just upload the video that you want to submit and put 2013 October Challenge in the Title. Of course, you can give more information in the description.

Maribee, what you are saying is interesting. Think about pulling through the V? What part do you mean as through the V? The bum, the legs or the arm pull?

First of all, as has been pointed out. You are never too old. A 62 year old one the masters division of the Internationl Pole Competition this year and she is still going strong. I think Masters if 40 and over. I started in January of this year at the age of 45. I turned 46 this past June. I am addicted and happy about it. My 17 year old son, not so much….but I do what’s best for me. Because I want to pole well, I have lost almost 50 pounds through poling, zumba, strength training and pole dancing. It brings out an inner you that you may have lost touch with……join us and begin your journey.

Do you have the skype application on your computer. I’m in Michigan so I can’t help with the local thing. Also, I’ve never poled skyped before but I’m willing to try….I don’t usually pole at home until the evenings or Sunday afternoon. I pole usually on Tuesday evening and Thursday evening.

This post is perfectly timed for the same issue and frustration that I am having. My instructor and others think it is a mental block for me. I’m afraid to release back and just keep failing in that part. I crunch up and tuck fine. I can even tuck back some but not enough to have the legs release. I can do 5 tucks in a row on one side without touching the ground, so its not strength…darn it. I feel your frustration but unfortunately, I can’t help you……I hope someone can us. 🙁
