This just further supports my position that boys are jealous and stupid LOL

Just want to restate what Chem has already said – this thread is from 2 years ago (and if I recall correctly, this was when the X-Pert was first released). IMO, any new product is bound to have some issues. Also, I do believe that X-Pole was cognizant to the issues and proactive, in that they have made several changes in the manufacturing since then. Likely, that has yeilded an even better end product. I also wanted to note the X-Pole delivered wonderful customer service and addressed all of my issues during that time and to date, I have a perfectly functioning X-Pert. I just thought it was worth mentioning because I would hate for anyone to make a weighted decision based on an outdated post : )

Not much poling going on, so I don't have much to contribute to posts. Hoping to change that in the New Year https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I was curious about the issue you noted of the warped pole with the Star Stand Alone and hoping you could ellaborate.
Just wondering if this was a manufacturing error or if pieces did not fit together properly (causing a trickle-down – or trickle-up – effect resulting in the warp) or if it was from general use of the pole?

I love the softness of the female vocals and the contrasting hardness of the dubstep stuff. Glad you posted this, it's definately going on my playlist!! Oh, and the video is cool too; talk about long legs LOL

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif Your welcome! I am the worst at keeping my music in order (playlists and such) and I love how easy it is to throw these on and have a steady stream of music for an hour. I spend more time cleaning my house to this than poling (still working on getting pole back into my schedule now that the kids are in school).
I am impatiently waiting for him to finish up a Dirty Diana dubstep remix – hoping it will turn out as bada$$ as I am thinking it will be in my head https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

@ Miraine – I gave it a shot and the audio portion came through fine, but the video is horrible. I just have no luck with converters!!
@ BACE – I use a digital camera (Panasonic Lumix) that records HD and saves as a MOV file too and I although I can open the files in Windows Movie Maker, the playback is distorted (video is choppy and lags).
-
I recently bought a digital camera with video, but the video records in a weird format (mov?). In order to upload vids (to Veena, youtube, Windows Movie Maker) you have to convert the file first. As of yet, I have not found a free converter that does a good job with this; the video is choppy or lagged in some spots and the audio is always off.
So that would be my only word of warning; to make sure the camera outputs a file that is easily uploaded without having to convert.

I think it was either Target or Sears – there was a guy with a tennis ball at the end of a stick and he used that to wipe out scuff marks.

I can relate to much of what you have posted. As for the sex drive thing, no matter what meds your are on (or not on), your not going to be horny when you have depression and anxiety in the mix. How turned on can you be when you have all that crap circling in your head?! They say that the biggest sex organ for women is the brain and I believe it, penises don't care about trivial things like depression and anxiety, they just need a good breeze and it's game on.
Add to that your seizure medication. That is something you cannot compromise on, so learning to deal with and function around a low or non-existent sex drive may be more important than worrying and stressing about it. I have about two or three days a month (oddly enough, when I'm ovulating – that baby making gene must run strong) that I have a glimmer of a sex drive, so I've learned to capitalize on those days in an attempt to keep a semi-normal sex life going.
Instead of worrying about birth control could you possibly do a Mirena type non-hormonal insert? That would be one less medication and set of side effects to deal with.
As for how to deal with the depression and anxiety – I really, really try to stay away from meds. Cognitive Behavorial Therapy is what I have used (after years of failed attempts with meds). There is a book by David Burns called Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy. It uses CBT to help with depression.
There was a study where they divided depressed people into two groups – the groups had to wait 4 weeks to see a doc. One group was given the book, the other was not. Guess which group did not request to see a doc and felt better at the end of those four weeks? Yup, the group with the book. They then gave the book to the other group, and the outcome was the same. The success that these groups achieved was not short term, they maintained these gains for up to three years.
Learning tools and techniques for changing the thinking patterns that keep you locked in this cycle are far more beneficial then meds, IMO. He also has a book for anxiety called When Panic Attacks: The New, Drug-Free Anxiety Therapy That Can Change Your Life. Same principle, CBT.
I realize everyone's journey and battle is unique and there will be different strokes for different folks, but I thought I would mention what I had found helpful.
I wish you all the best, it sure does suck getting dealt these cards, but that doesn't mean you can't change your hand to get ahead of the game.

@ Luvee: Do you know what happened to cause such a nasty injury? (i.e, Did you tear a muscle? Was it on the upper or lower knee? Was it a result of incorrect placement or something along those lines?)
I ask because I've only attempted this a handful of times and I know it's not comfortable and can be downright painful, but the last time around I almost felt as if I pinched a nerve (an electrifying jolt shot down my leg from knee to ankle – I felt like I was zapped off the pole). I didn't have any pain afterwards, but since then I've been hesitant about re-visiting this move.

Very nice!!! We have a tree rope too, and my son asked me to knot a small loop at the very bottom, which he uses as a foot hold. He pulls some serious circus moves on that thing!! Once I learned pole dancing, I was able to tell him that one of his moves has a name – an Inverted V. He was so thrilled and now everytime he does it he says "Check out my inverticaled veed Mom!!!"
Further kudos to you, because I've monkeyed around on his rope a few times, but generally don't last very long because WOW, rope is quite hard and painful on the hands!! As always, you make it look so pretty and simple https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

"So instead of thinking of it as a slip or fail I think of it as a save."
I absolutely love this!!!! Thank you for posting it!! It serves as a subtle, but strong, reminder that attitude and perspective is just as important as strengthening and ability. Cheers to you with my glass half full.

Mysfit, thank you for posting that, I dunno how I missed that. I'm going to be plowing away tonight https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Ollie, I had light bulbs going off everywhere after I read your post – I didn't even realize that one girl had a t-shirt on, and then the roll of the shoulder before feet placement comment you made . . it was an ah ha moment. And, now I can also see how kicking into this is even more of a no-no. That initial kick-up causes a bit of a bouncy chain reaction through out your body and compromises the contact between that meaty shoulder area and the pole (at least in my mind, this is what I am processing LOL).
This one just doesn't seem to have a safety exit so it's kinda an all or nothing, hold on for dear life, move. But, I definitely feel like I have a better perspective on this now. Thank you for the feedback!!
-
Veena, I couldn't agree more – all of my road blocks, be it pole or life in general, are mental. Stupid brain LOL There is just something about that brief moment of vunerability (right before you grasp with your legs) that gets me. Logically I am thinking, okay, I am holding all of my body weight, practically upside-down and relying on two sweaty, small hands and a smigen of shoulder skin to keep me where I need to be – and I get the UH OH feeling LOL

I hadn't responded because I'm clueless on ideas. I would say to choose something that fits your personality, that way it comes natural and strong and isn't forced – if your not comfortable and confident, it'll show.
Once you figure out what theme or character your going for, post again and I bet you'll get some better feedback and ideas on how you could work it all together.
My biggest tip would be to get in good with the DJ. I personally feel like the lighting (and music of course), or lack thereof, can make or break a performance. The standard spinning colored lights . . . . BORING. If you have somone that really knows you and how to key the lights to the music and your perfomance – it makes SUCH a huge difference.
My favorite set was to crazy techno. A nice slow, theatric beginning (with a pitch black room, except for one white light) and when the beat finally hit after the build up, the DJ would light that place up!! Needless to say, everyone's attention was focused on the task at hand. Here's the song, maybe it'll help bring across the idea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSj5EAga3F0&feature=related (man, I am really dating myself here).
