I wonder if anyone from this thread actually GOT the Gemini?? I just started to learn this move a couple of days ago (through Veena's lesson)…oh man…I think the pole took some of my skin… (I'm still working on the part where your knee-pit hook over the pole and my hands haven't even left the pole yet…)
I'm not a big girl…5'4, 111lbs, but when my knee-pit / thigh grab the pole, my flesh looks "rubbery" (like Play-Doh)…Does your skin supposed to toughen up or am I just not engage my muscle hard enough? Any idea??
And yes…it hurts like AAAAHHH…but I'm guessing I'll get used to it…I really want to look pretty on the pole instead of having my skin/meat grab onto the pole looking like Play-Doh https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

@Veena – I think you're right…I was so focus on holding onto the pole with my legs I don't think I was breathing…LOL
@Terpsikhore – Good to know they don't leave permanent mark!!
Thank you ladies!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

It’s 5″ thick and I cannot feel the floor at all when I’m standing on it. However, you can’t wear heels though or the heels will poke holes into the mat.
I live in the US but I think Amazon ships outside US too. Good luck!! ^_^

Have you tried WD40? Spray it between the crack and see if you can slip it out?

Thanks Lily~ HUGS~
My company will reimburse everything…it just a big disappointment and a pain the butt to cancel then reschedule everything…We already spent over 8 hours on the phone =( Then knowing I'll be sitting in the rain during a hurricane just wasn't too thrill…but duty calls…sigh.
The rain is hitting us hard now…I'm just sitting in my living room waiting for the phone call to be dispatched…I hope it won't be too crazy out there!!!
I just finished taping all my windows, sotck up on food and water…I wish everyone in the East Coast GOOD LUCK!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif

Welcome https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I'm sure you'll pick up very quickly…especially you probably still have some muscle memory. I got my own pole back in June and I can feel my strength increase a lot in just 2 short months…I'm a total newbie. (Mind you…I work crazy hours so I don't even practice everyday…lol)

QUESTION – Although I can do an invert w/o kicking, I'm still having trouble holding on to the pole with my legs only. I remember when I did it in the studio (50mm) it was hard but I could still let go for a few seconds before I need to grab onto the pole again, but at home I have a 45mm…My hands couldn't even let go for a second! Any tips on how to get a better grip?? Or it just takes time?
Also, I FINALLY dig out the video camera…now I need to figure it out how to post it here on Veena https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
PS. It's great to be able to tell someone about my pole progress…LOL No one in my real life (bf included) could understand why I get so excited over pole moves…LOL

Good news: He just bought me a 5" thick crash mat from Amazon…and I can continue my practice when the mat arrive https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I heard a lot of people hurt themselves while learning SM. It’s definitely one of my dream moves…but it definitely make me nervous…

When and where is this workshop?? Did I missed it in the Events section?

Excellent idea!! Count me in!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I wonder if there's any way we can pair up w/ people that is in similar level??

I was debating between those 2 sizes too…but I was leaning towards 50mm just because it was "industry standard" and I learned on a 50mm brass (which I HATE).
However, I spoke w/ a couple other polers (Natasha…Dirdy Birdy…) and they all said same thing. Short Summary of what they said – "Go for the 45mm – get comfortable and strong…then move up. If you're struggling with a 50mm, it might drive you away from poling. How can you enjoy pole dancing when you hate your pole?? Besides, all major competitions are using 45mm chrome anyway."
And they are soooo right….I LOVE my 45mm Chrome…its a lot easier to grip and spin. I feel more confident dancing on the pole now (I still suck mind you…but at least the diameter is not so intimidating anymore)
Hope this helps!!

~HUGS~ I'm sorry Tarah… I know how you feel… My best friend died in Japan a few years ago. He was hit by a car while he was riding his bike to work. That guy even stole his bicycle…The saddest part is he was in the Navy, stationed in Japan…however, he only had 3 days left before he was suppose to send home for good.
I was a wreck for a very long while…..
Tragic incidents happen…but I believe time will heal. Be strong and keep his memory alive.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend's family. ~BIG HUGS~

I checked my pole last night…everything seems to look fine. (Wheeew…::wiping sweat on forehead::) But then, I've only had my pole for a little over a month and I only pole 2-3 times a week. (keeping my fingers crossed!!)
When you guys said "rotated joints" I'm guessing it means you can't find the hole of the "hex"?? Or your x-joints just get stuck in the pole tube??
I applied anti-seize lubricant on all the thread prior to putting my pole together, and so far I've taken my pole down several times and they were never stuck. I highly recommend that product…
For people who have a "stuck" joints, have you tried spray WD40 and let it sit for a little bit then try to get it out again? Maaaybe it helps w/ a little lube….

I have the same problem…I get bored easily…especially when I don't know what I'm doing…LOL
I got reeeally excited when I discovered Veena's beginner routine. I learned all of the beginner moves already, faaaar from perfect but I can do them…and doing the beginner routine (practicing the beginner moves) with music in the background helps tremendously.
I also saw a couple of Dirdy Birdy's beginner routine on YouTube, I try to mimic her dance and when it comes to moves where I'm not familiar, I'll just search on Veena's lessons and learn it from there (I learned how to do the body wave from Veena last night!!! Yes, it's a simple move…but I really had no clue as to how to start..LOL Her description of "snuggle against the pole like a cat" works like a charm!!)
Happy Poling~~
