I booked a room, I can cancel it if I decide not to go.  Airfare is pretty high. Plus, I'm working on opening up my studio and I'm not sure how the timing will work out.

Mostly I'm worried because I don't really know anyone.  I have met people, but don't have anyone to hang out with. It's awkward walking around by yourself.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif  I always think I look like some crazy old lady.  lol

I'm hoping to go and hoping that the Veeners can meet up so I can get to know some more faces.

I would recommend focusing on one at a time. However, you will want to keep the renewal dates as close together as possible so that your CEC's can apply to both.  The PT is about 3x as much info as the GFI.  But, about 1/4 of it applies to both.  Keep in mind you will have to pay renewal fees for both too.

You guys are cracking me up!  There are definitely not any questions on the ACE GFI or PT exams about penises.  lol  However, What Ginger Kitty posted is very accurate on what to expect.

I actually just passed the ACE Personal Trainer test today https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif, and passed the Group Fitness Instructor test in Decemeber.  I found that most of the test was based on the manual and not the anatomy books. Even so, I would definitely study the whole thing, it helps with the manual. Mainly, be sure you have a very good understanding of the heart, the rotator cuff, the leg muscles, and back issues and what muscles are tight or weak in those.

To help me remember the muscles I labled my son's body with a washable marker.  It gave him some attention and helped me study at the same time.

Are you doing GFI or PT?  I was surprised at how many questions about music I had on the GFI test and equally as surprised at how many I had on nutrition on the PT test.

    Here is the IRS's view.

There are pros and cons to each type for both studio owner's and instructors. Bottom line is, follow the IRS guidelines. States usually have their own guidelines as well.

The Midwest Pole Dancing, Inc. website has a nice list of studios.

Thank you for the truthful, unbiased, side by side comparison. I have gone around and around on which poles to buy.  I am still planning on PS permanent poles for my studio, but was considering also purchasing a stage portable and would definitely go with the X-Pole for that.

I do have an X-pole X-pert at home and LOVE it!  But, I have trained on both X-pole and PS at studios and have found I prefer the PS there. I don't have any experience with the stages, so this was really helpful for me.

How many of you own, attend or have attended a studio which uses crash mats?

The main studio I attended did not have any crash mats. I did attend a class at a studio that utilized a crash mat when teaching a new inverted move. The overall feeling of that class was much more professional than it would have been sans crash mat.

How many of you wish or think studios SHOULD use them if they don't?

I think all studios should use them. As was mentioned previously, they should not take anything away from spotting, they should be an additional safety measure. In my opinion, their use should be required on a move until both student and instructor feel that the move has been mastered.

How many of you use a crash mat or would prefer to have one to use at home?

I bought one for my home for safety since I was poling alone and wouldn't have anyone to call for help for me if I were to fall. It is my "buddy sytem" lol.
