Oh, and yes, Discoveries Dance does have an at home option too.

I’m a Master Trainer for Discoveries Dance. I’m hosting the next training at my studio in Northern Illinois in mid February. Check the events here for my training as well as others; it’s a good resource :-). The main thing you’ll want to look for in a training program is that the program is approved by the PFA and PDC (Pole Moves,XPert, and ETED as mentioned in prior comments I believe are all approved by both as well, but you’ll want to double check). Also, keep in mind, although some training programs are approved by ACE for CEC’s,some instructors aren’t qualified to give ACE credits. You’ll want to verify that the instructor meets these qualifications:

    1) Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a health-related field, OR a four-year degree in a business-related field (only applicable for business workshops pertinent to a fitness professional), OR a current NCCA-accredited fitness certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, AAPTE, Cooper Institute, NCSF, NETA, NFPT, PMA and NCCPT), OR is a current RYT registered with Yoga Alliance (yoga courses only).
    2) Possess at least two years of experience in the subject matter being presented.

You were awesome!  I definitely remember the strength in your routine and the outfit. I remember the abs too, but not sure I could pick you out of a crowd.   lol.  Hope to see you again sometime 🙂

Yes, that was me!   Did you perform also? Were you at the pole jam?  Trying to figure out who you were. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I'm out in the far Northwest Suburbs at Intrigue Fitness. http://www.intrigue-fitness.com/location I'm the studio owner.  Our students have a curriculum to follow, but they progress at their own pace.  That was one of my complaints with taking classes when I started, I was always sitting around waiting for others to catch up. We are definitely fitness based.  It may be too far for her to come regularly, but she is always welcome to come visit and check it out.  The Midwest Pole Dancing link chemgoddess1 posted is the best list of the studios here.

I'm planning on getting mine from Giaganticmirros.com.  I haven't ordered them yet, but have spoken with 2 people who have used them and have had only good things to say.  Mirrors are  expensive and they have the best pricing I have seen for the larger ones that studios and fitness centers need.

Hey shorties!  I'm 5'0".  As the others said, my height is mostly an advantage. I have much more room on the pole and around the pole to do tricks.  The things I struggle with the most are knee and elbow grips.  My short arms and legs make it hard to get a good hold.  Sometimes my hand grip is an issue as well, since my fingers don't nearly come around the 50.

I'm 43  and have been poling for about a year.  I was a successful career woman in my 20's and 30's.  Then became a stay at home mom for over 10 years.  At 41 I started back to school to start a new career in IT.  Then, I found pole dancing….

I dropped out of college to be a pole dancer. Opening my own studio soon https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif.

    Hi and welcome 🙂

It sounds like you need to do some shoulder specific conditioning work. Veena's conditioning lessons on here are great.  You really need to be careful with shoulders. They are very easily injured and have a long recovery time.  Always be sure you are holding your shoulders back and down, keeping those muscles engaged so that you aren't pulling on your arm and shoulder joint. You should NEVER feel like it is pulling your shoulder out of socket.

It will all come with time.  You don't want to move forward to quickly and end up with an injury. There are a lot of other things you can work on like walks, body or hip waves, slides, etc while you are building up the strength to be able to start to do spins.

Great job with the climbing!  Keep it up.  Your arms sound like they are pretty strong already :-).
