Whenever I apply Tite Grip, it reminds me a little bit of toothpaste! It probably is!

Wow! So pure and unpretentious. It's like she skipped straight out of an enchanted forest and onto a pole!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Ok, August is almost over. I wanna see some more rock videos!! Anyone else got anything to show?

Hi echo, it automatically goes in the Video section and in the Challenges section. Don’t worry, you did everything right! 🙂 I noticed the clock – Were you really dancing at 2.50 in the morning?! That’s dedication! 🙂

I've just posted mine, can't wait to see some more!

Oh, I just realised Cleo did this awesome Steel Panther video!

They posted it on Twitter a while ago, but I didn't make the connection until now.

Maybe we could have a "Rock Out" challenge sometime, where we dance to our favourite rock songs?
I'm not really poling at the moment, my pregnancy is making me very nauseous and weak, but I just love watching other girls dance to rock music 🙂

I love rock and metal too, although I mostly use slow or mid-tempo songs to pole to, I'm not strong or fast enough to keep up with the faster tunes!
On my pole playlist I have lots of Motley Crue, AC/DC, Van Halen, plus lots of 90's stuff. My favourite Metallica songs are The Memory Remains and Turn the Page. Controversially, Load, Reload and Garage Inc are my favourite Metallica albums, I love the slow, heavy tempo and the voice of Hetfield on those albums.
Slash's new album is also good to pole to, the songs have a cool swagger to them.

I really want to keep up my fitness this time, as I found giving birth to my daughter so strenuous. I was pushing for what felt like forever!
Although my doctor has given me the go-ahead to carry on with my usual exercise regime, I don't think doctors truly understand what pole is like, especially at an advanced level, I'm sure they think we just do a bunch of twirling and posing! So it's good to hear from people who really know what they're talking about.
Anyway, it's kind of a moot point at the moment, since all I want to do is sleep!

MemberJuly 6, 2012 at 6:14 pm in reply to: Any tips on practicing pole dance during pregnancy?I just looked up this thread after recently finding out I'm about 5 weeks pregnant. I told my pole teacher today and although she said I could still come to class up to 12 weeks, she strongly advised me not to do any pole at all from now on, not even spins as they still use a lot of core strength. She also mentioned that she had lost 2 pregnancies, and often wonders if pole was the cause, so I can understand that as a friend and a business-woman she wouldn't want to be responsible if anything bad happened.
I think I'll still continue to do spins and moves that I know I can do easily, like I did last time. Even though I'm happy to be pregnant, I'd be so sad to give up pole completely, it would leave a huge void in my life! Does that sound selfish of me?!

Thanks, that is helpful, esp. tips on avoiding dizziness. I do feel quite nauseous right now!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif

Oh, and I notice that there are a few moves on there that don't have lessons. Does that mean there will be lessons coming up…? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I hope so! I'd love to learn the ballerina moves https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Beautiful photos! I use galleries on other sites, but now I won't need to!

@minicoopergirl You might wanna get your iron levels tested. I've struggled with anaemia in the past, and a course of iron tablets could help?
Feel better soon xx

The majority of people don't understand what we do – the athletic ability required and the sense of accomplishment. Never forget that!
Last week I was at my gym class talking to a girl my age and she asked me what other forms of fitness I do. I told her I do pole dancing, and the look on her face was like I'd just divulged my most intimate secret! She actually glanced around to see if anyone had overheard!
When I tell people I've got a pole at home, I get a lot of comments like "I bet your husband likes that ;)". I usually say, "Yes, he's proud of what I've achieved, but he doesn't sit there gawping and salivating at me, he's usually in the other room watching Sci-Fi Channel!"
I wish more people could see the videos on this site, so they could see the beauty of what we do.

I also like Cherry Pie by Warrant 🙂

I struggled with this move for about 6 months! The key for me was letting the hips drop, you'll probably spin a little bit which feels scary, but once you drop the hips and get the legs nice and tight it should all fall into place. I've got videos of me not getting it, then getting it 🙂
Practicing from the floor helps to get the feel for it, lie face down then get up on your tiptoes.
Good luck!

By the way, my favourite band right now is Skindred, they're from Wales but they're rapidly taking over the world! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I've seen them live about 6 times and they're always amazing. So much energy!
They play "ragga metal", so it's really heavy but also very danceable. I must find the time to do a dance to one of their songs 🙂
-
Thanks! I found it – you look awesome!
I also checked out some of their other vids, so it definitely had the desired effect! 🙂
-
Ooh, what band is it Glitterhips? I'd love to see it Youtube! 🙂
-
@ollie – I know what you mean. Even though I've been doing pole for about 4 years (with a baby break!) for most of that time I've just been learning isolated moves or freestyling. I'm only just starting to choreograph routines. Dancing to a whole song is quite hard, especially something like Tool, you need a ton of stamina!!

My husband is in a thrash band called Mucus 🙂 They formed at school about 15 years ago and have recently reformed, however, it's surprisingly difficult to get 4 almost 40 year-olds together at the same time for rehearsal, so they don't do many gigs! I keep offering to pole dance at their gigs, but so far they haven't take me up on their offer. My husband obviously sees the awesome potential of a pole performance mixed with a rock show, but the other 3 are yet to be convinced. Maybe they think I'll upstage them!

Although I do love Pour Some Sugar On Me! It's tailor-made for pole dance 🙂
