Wow Mitzy Blue, now THAT is a 'wardrobe malfunction'…. or the most efficient way to take a top off while poling I have ever heard of. LOL! Good one!

CapFeb, that sounds really painful. Way to recover though during your set!

    JiggaLuv87, Wedgie photo… lol!

I do some ridiculous stuff every so often with practice, I've put my shoes on the wrong feet and not recognized it at first except for 'the vamp feels funny'… I've fallen while walking over to change a song… I damaged my wall kicking it with my shoe. It's pole dancing not karate I tell myself. I could go on.. and on. Lately, I just blurt out " F Minus " when I have an epic fail.

Thanks D Luxx for sharing all that detail also. This can definitely help others that receive their poles with those two screws loose. 🙂

Posting this in case it helps someone in the future… thanks again all for your replies.

Sure enough this was the two small vertical hex screws. On my older Xpole the tools that come with the Xpole can adjust it. Maybe they made it smaller so people wouldn't mess with it. Mine out of the box was too loose. Tightened those two little vertical hex screws and all is well. No more shifting. Now I'm ready to get my pole on!

What helped me was lots of practice in inverted position. Inverted crucifix for example. I would get into that position and hold it as long as I could safely. Spending that time holding that position helped me to focus on feeling the contact points on my lower body and getting a feel for them and also focusing on relaxing the parts of my body that are not actively engaging. Relaxing as in not overly tensing or bracing out of fear etc (not relaxing into limp noodle arms or what not ha ha).

Also staying inverted holding a pose helped me to BREATHE calmly and really focus on what I am doing. Breathing and being less afraid helped a bit with red face. Even though I still get some red face and also get veins that bulge out in my forehead… that's hot… (not).

    You are young!!!

Our physical age is not necessarily an indication of our overall abilities. Don't be discouraged!!! You can use right now as an opportunity to improve your physical capabilites and grow your skills. I'm stronger now than I have ever been in my life thanks to pole. My friends comment now on how I have 'guns'! Lol!

Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions! I'm going to pick up a tool that will fit those screws and adjust it. Hoping that is all it is to get it secure and ready to rock!

That's interesting Annieloo, I posted a video of it too since a 'picture is worth a thousand words'. Yours does that too? It shouldn't. Pole gal, it is the new Xpole, I ordered it last week. I have tightened them as hard as I can and it still has that slight movement. Haley Bug, I can't tighten it enough to make it stop shifting, before I even start to pole. I've experienced what you mention on my 50mm and keep my hex keys out while poling to check it out every so often. I've been using a 50mm Xpole for two years and never had this happen so I felt comfortable with the setup. I still went through the manual to make sure I was following all steps.

Thanks again for all the replies. I will follow up after I have a chance to talk to Xpole. Due to time zone/schedule differences, I might not get in touch with them tomorrow but I will be calling for sure and will update.

Maybe I've turned into a total wimp and am not strong enough to secure those screws… but I just put my chrome Xpole up Sunday and didn't have this happen. 🙁

Thank you all for your replies. I am perplexed… I removed the spin mode locking screws and put them back in and tightened as hard as I can (making sure they are aligned with the X on the base plate). Still shifts. It looks like that is where the issue is coming from since the entire body of the pole from that area up pivots.

I've had my previous xpole for years and haven't seen this behavior before. I will call xpole to discuss but also wanted to post here to see what others have done. Open to any additional suggestions or feedback.

I can only share my personal opinion and observation since I have no training or education/certification in this area. That being said, I can share my personal observations. I have seen square splits where the focus is to keep the spine upgright and shoulders back with light tension in shoulders pulling them back to open chest. I have also seen square splits where there is a huge focus on doing contortion like back placement to create a dramatic arch. Personally I focus on a straight spine with my shoulders and neck positioned over my hips. That creates more body weight over the hips area to put more downward force on my split.

Veena is ACE certified… maybe she will be able to offer some expert opinion! I know there are some experts here… maybe they will chip in.

Stay inspired by watching your favorite pole videos and planning on what you're going to start back with! Its tough when our routines are disrupted due to medical situations, I hope you heal up quickly and can get back to your pole.

Welcome for the post! 🙂 I haven't seen it performed too many times but I have also seen other dancers use that move. It always amazes me! @Nadine… I'm thinking spinning pole would allow the sustained multiple rotations around the pole like in the video. I'm no expert though… just figured on a static she would lose height.

I stick a little too well to powder coat and it causes friction burns that hurt like heck. If I'm on powder coat I am extremely careful about doing spins and will not do any drops. I love how they look though… and they are great if I am practicing moves that are not drops. I do like the extra grip, make climbs and inversions sweet! Especially when the room is cold and I'm just starting out for my session.

Keep working the power of visualization along with your practices and you'll have great results! I have dreamt about poling but in my dream my pole tore a 3 foot by 2 foot chunk out of my ceiling drywall and I started to panic on how I would get it fixed. Would have much preferred the effortless dancing dream!

If you enjoy pole and want to continue your journey, don't be discouraged! I would suggest you use a buddy system and not walk out alone to make sure everyone gets safely to their cars. I would also suggest you report the harassment to the studio owners as well, they need to know what is happening outside of their studio.

There are people that will take issue with everything and anything we choose to do. We can't control their behaviors but we can control our own. I'm sorry to hear that their behaviors triggered something negative in you. Whatever you decide to do… follow your heart and passion.

Unfortunately a 'ditto' type of answer. You can't spot reduce fat… our body stores it where it stores it. By lowering your body fat percentage you can reduce the fat overall.

Bigtime congratulations are in order for all that hard work and determination it had to take to loose so much weight. Great focus and great job!

Maybe you can focus on buidling/maintaining muscle and reducing overall fat to help you with your goals. But wow… don't lose sight of what you have accomplished so far. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

This is only my personal opinion… I find XPoles to be more slick than other poles I have used. It could be how my body chemistry reacts to it. The silver lining is I tell myself… If I can dance on an X… I can dance on anything! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I use rubbing alcohol and a micro fiber cloth to clean my X pole. I wash my pole microfiber cloths without fabric softener and hang dry them. I put my lotion on at least 6 hours before pole. I make sure my pole is warm by doing lots of spins/climbs before doing anything inverted. I make sure I am really warm or else I will slide right off.

Wishing you the best successes finding what works best for you!

When you are not physically up to an intense session… allow your body that time. Do something less demanding or skip the session entirely. Fatigue can comprimise your form and set you up for an accident or injury or burn out! Better to pole another day than to push when you are not feeling up to it.

I'm sorry that you were kept up so late and then had to keep up with so many responsibilities.

Hoping that you wake up refreshed and read to hit it tomorrow!

    Happy Poling (and Resting!!!) 🙂
