Ok… now that was funny!!! 90 year old with back problems?!? Most days I feel that way too. I thought I was fit too and then I got a reality check from the pole! I am slowly and surely getting stronger but this is a journey not a race!!!

Oooh Thank you Jenn for sharing! I will try it. Anything we can do to extend the life of our shoes is worth trying! Thank you!

I know all these great suggestions will help all of us that have experienced a shoe wearing out before it is time.

"Gorilla shake"… seriously Sensualscimitar! It took me a while to feel comfie on my X Pole but I love it. I bet you will be sore tomorrow Vaudeville! Veena's lessons are great and there is so much to aspire to! I do strength training twice a week because my body needs a little extra time to recover.

You are going to have so much fun here… this forum is full of so many wonderful people!

Thanks Solsticedark for all the great tips! I especially like the windex trick to keep them fresh. Stretching is my biggest issue but got some good tips on things to try. 6+ months?!? Wow!

You are right… they are just not engineered to tolerate what we do to them. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Scandalicious… I hear ya! Good idea to combine and save on shipping. I have seen some dancers tie their shoes on using cloth or 'heelstraps' when their straps break.

MelanieDA, you are so right re them being too pricy to throw away. I really like the fancier ones but stopped buying them since they don't last on me. No doubt re them needing to be more durable… I mean come manufacturers…. we want some value for our money! Thanks for all the great suggestions… I will try stacking insoles to take up the space and see how that works out.

Layla, thanks for sharing the mystery of the shoe anatomy. The Vamp! I have a pair of foot undeez… I can try that too.

Thanks for all these great suggestions! I have a lot of things to try as my next pair stretches out! My sized down pair arrives tomorrow. I bought it from Endless.com with no cost for return shipping just in case it falls into the "not a snowball's chance in hell" of getting that over yoru foot category. LOL!

Thanks chemgoddess1, My downsized Pleasers arrive Thursday. I am the same as you, boots are good at 9 (sized up) and I do not stretch and slide out of those. I've tried different pads that are supposed to prevent the front slide… I end up disposing of the shoes because they become unsafe. This is the first pair I have sized down on… hope it works out. I mean the shoes are good, few scuffs here or there but intact otherwise.

Hi Roamy, thanks for sharing your experience. I am not sure if it will work for me either. They have some very pretty shoes in the Bordello collection! I like 6.5 inches and up so they are shorter than what I am comfortable in. Since they are closed toe I bet they wouldn't stretch out. I do not know what the shoe anatomy is called but it is the band of plastic close to the toes on the top of the foot that stretches out. Then when doing floor work my entire foot will fall out… or they move way too much to trust for spins. Ugh!

Hi and welcome! I have an X but did not have the issue you are describing.  Can you take a picture and post it? That may help those more experienced with Xpole. I would also email the picture to xpole customer service and inquire with them.

I love the community and lessons you have created for us here.

Don't leave us to be in the listing of 'elite'! We would not benefit from all this great stuff if you were not making it for us!

    Vaulted ceilings… I'm jealous! ; )

I think most of major pole manufacturers sell mounts for vaulted ceilings. X Pole sells mounts for vaulted and non vaulted ceilings (thats the pole I have). Lil Mynx has vaulted mounts too. I would love a red or pink powder coated pole just for the novelty of it.

Everyone has their own experience with poles so there are many different opinions out there on which pole to buy. It's great that there is variety in the market to allow us to pick what works for us the best.

When its time post a topic on suggestions to secure your pole, people will reply! This forum is great.

Pole has helped my confidence… how can you not feel like a badass when you climb up to your ceiling in 7 inch heels?!? LOL!

    Welcome SpookyInk!

I can relate to the body image issues and living with many fears. Talk about things that do not serve our best interests! You have come to the right place!!! Consider investing in Veena's lessons when funds allow, she has so many awesome strength, pole and flexibility lessons. I have seen great improvements in my strength and flexibility by using her lessons consistently.

As a new Pole lover you want to definitely focus on strength training, you will impress yourself in no time with how much you improve your strength. I was super wimpy the first time I tried a strength move…. many of us are. Let that feed your motivation to focus and improve. It can easily take years to grow into many pole abilities. That is one of the things I love about it… kicks my tail endlessly. I love a challenge!!!

This is a wonderful place full of very supportive Pole lovers. Looking forward to hearing how things go in your journey.

That's where I first saw her was the Enrique video. Her body is ridiculous gorgeous and she has the talent and strength to top it all off. Definitely one of my inspirations!

Thanks for sharing the pole skivvies interview, going to check that out.

It can be terrifying to dance in front of someone you care about… or even complete strangers. I think deep inside a lot of us fear rejection! He would love it and feel so very lucky!

You have gotten so much great advice here! I agree with the red lighting, soft lighting, or a bunch of candles. It creates a very sexy mood and hides areas we may not want seen in harsh light (bonus). You could have a few moves picked out that you feel comfortable with and then some transitions to throw in the mix. Pick a short song for your first dance… that takes some of the pressure off.

There is a saying that dance is a conversation between you and that special person without words. What would you choose to say to him? Incorporate it into your dance!

If you trip, forget a move, get your shirt stuck on your ear or whatever just laugh it off and get back into your zone! Laughter can be a great ice breaker and also strengthen the connection the two of you share.

Spend some time thinking about it and planning it, there is no rush. If you do decide to dance for him, boyfriend will LOVE it!  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

Hmmm… I love stretching. Even if its painful at the time, after I feel so much better. I think that is what has transformed me into loving it.

Thats great that results keep you going. Have you tried distraction during your stretching? Do you have any favorite tv shows you can watch while you stretch? What helps me is to stream internet videos that I like or have my favorite playlist running so I have some good music.

Maybe that could help a bit?

I'm sorry that your plans have been postponed. Hopefully you can reschedule and enjoy that vacation soon! I'm sure you would much rather be at a spa with your honey than standing around as live wires whip all over the place. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I laughed HYSTERICALLY at the wild leg swinging at 0:33. This was just ridiculous… few moments my jaw dropped in shock/awe. Loved it!!!
