I am so very sorry you lost a loved member of your family today. From a place of love and compassion you did everything in your power to enable Toby to transition peacefully and with loved ones near. Sending my respectful well wishes for you and your family.

Take extra change of clothes, especially thongs and extra pair of shoes (even if you leave in your car). Shoes can break and you don't want to be without a pair, you would get sent home most likely.
Confidence and interaction is a must. Don't look disengaged or bored. You are better off freshening up backstage then sitting around and not working the floor.
and a biggie… tip out your DJ and Bouncers well. You want them in your corner.
Have fun!

Chair spin can be a bit tricky. It has the opposing forces concept of push/pull and also requires core strength. This could be an issue of strength, technique or both. I would suggest you talk with your instructor so she can review your form and offer specific suggestions after observing you. Chair does require some momentum. Also work on building strength. If you don't have a pole at home you can still do body weight moves like plank and push ups etc.
You are not a wimp and your chair is not pitiful. So what if you were off the floor for one half second. No shame in where you are starting out, just keep at it!

I had one on the top of my right foot. Since it did not cause pain or prevent me from my normal activiites I took the wait and see what it does approach. Fortunately it went away with no intervention needed. My Doc told me that it could return since it was a cyst and also that they could develop in different areas. Consult with your Doc and dont hesitate to discuss with other specialty Docs if it continues to bother you. Wishing you the best of success!

Lina Spiralyne, follow your internal compass. If you feel the urge to notify this young person by leaving a comment or sending a message, do so. If this will linger in your mind or you will later regret not saying something, say something. At least you would know that you did what you felt was right for your needs regarding what you observed.
You are not responsible for what people do with the information but you can do what you feel is important to do.
Wishing you the best in however you decide to approach it.

Thanks Sparrow for sharing your experience, I'll just stick with Pleaser for now but it is good to hear about everyone's experiences. I love Snaz75!

My shoes will last about 4 months max with regular wear but I am really hard on them. I had issues with Ellies and Tabu footwear vamps stretching out and the shoe couldn't be worn after that. Had a pair of Pleasers ankle strap detach from shoe but this little metal part pulled up from the seam of the shoe and cut the bottom of my foot. 🙁
You should not have wear like that on the first day and liftng shouldn't happen in 3 weeks. These shoes are expensive and sometimes it seems like they are manufactured poorly for the demands placed on them.

That's really crummy CapFeb that you are having so many issues with that brand. I have wanted to try Highest Heel for a while.

I want to dance like those women when I grow up. Check out their 2011 opening performance. Just… wow.

I buy almost all of my shoes from http://www.snaz75.com They have enormous variety and you can shop by brand and heel height. My favorite brand is Pleaser.

I don’t use oil in the shower because my bath surface is really smooth and don’t want to slip. I rinse off hair covered in oil in a big kitchen sink.

He might not be intentionally interrupting your pole time or realizing he is becoming sensitive about the time you spend when you leave or influencing your dietary choices in a negative way. I agree with others that the best approach would be an open non confrontational dialouge. I've handled issues by reinforcing what the goal means to me and why I am so dedicated to it.
Let him know how important these goals are to you and that his support means a lot to you. Reassure him on how much he means to you and how much you value the relationship. You can also share that you are feeling a strain structuring all these pieces into your life right now but want the experience of competing at that event and that makes it worth it. Get from his point of view exactly what might be going on with him without making assumptions and without putting words in his mouth or projecting what you think might be going on (since we really never know exactly what the thoughts of others are).
Wishing you the best of luck with this situation and during the competition! The support (or lack therof) from others can make such a big difference in our personal goals, I really hope he comes around and supports your goals!

Avocado hair mask for a deep condition: http://www.livestrong.com/article/95683-diy-avocado-hair-mask/
I tried straight conconut oil but it was too heavy and I couldn't get it to wash out… took me about three thorough washings over two days to get it out. That's just my hair though… I read reviews from some people that totally loved it.
If you are going for minimal chemical you might want to consider lushusa handmade cosmetics. That might be out of the question based on your goals but wanted to mention just in case you might find some of their products useful.

When you are adjusting to the friction of holds there will generally be discomfort on the skin regardless of the pole finish. I don't have issues with CKR or other holds on power coated poles. I actually like PC poles due to the extra grippiness. My issues are when I am doing something that has a very fast motion with high friction for a reasonable length, like a drop. I won't do them on PC poles anymore. Other moves I do fine with PC and even better than other finishes. There was no damage done to my pole by the shop that PC'd it.
-
I get friction burns from PC poles when doing moves like drops. I don’t get that on other finishes. I love the color variety and grippiness of PC though…. I just need to be extra mindful of what I’m doing with it.

I had my brass powder coated and did prefer powder coat to brass. I have seen other forum members powder coat their xpole and they also seem happy with the outcome.
-
I've done various Barre classes and they can be challenging from a muscle isolation and high repitition aspect… but they are NOTHING like pole. Personally I have found pole much harder considering all of the strength/stamina/flexibility that is required.
