Personally, I like wearing tall boots because they grip very securely and I never have to worry I’ll slide off! You could try using Mighty Grip or iTac on your legs, make sure to shave (and not apply lotion) before class. How long have you been poling? It does take a while to become comfortable with it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Poling definitely helps me with stress and worry! When I dance.. the world falls away. I take out my frustrations, my worries and my problems on the pole! Afterward I feel great though. My body is warmed up, looser, and of course rocking out to loud music always helps =) So glad that you found something to keep your depression at bay, poling is really great because you have to dance for yourself!

I have seen this with several clients (I’m a massage therapist =) Sometimes you develop tightness in a certain area, and since you have been spending a lot of time working out now, it sounds like your body has naturally adjusted itself to your new muscle movements. I would recommend seeing a chiropractor just to make sure you are aligned properly, and perhaps try a massage to loosen up tissue in that area. You can also do self massage and stretching. Make sure to work on your quads where they attach to the front of the pelvis and also on your abs as they attach on your hips too. Hope you continue feeling better and good luck in your competition!

I don’t do silks, but I do aerial yoga. I use a yoga swing which is made of the same chiffon material as silks. =)

Oh no! What happened? I don’t know any of the details of this situation, but I hate to hear the defeat in your words! Would you not consider teaching privately out of an office or your home perhaps?

I would highly recommend icing your hands and arms after practice, doing self massage and stretches, wearing compression gloves at night, and taking it easy for a day or two if they hurt very badly. You don’t want to develop carpal tunnel or tendinitis! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I also like using lavender and arnica oil when massgIng for it’s healing properties (I’m a massage therapist https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif so I totally understand the arm and wrist strain!

Well dang. I was excited to go and already had a few friends who wanted to go too. Guess we will have to wait https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I know your studio has a policy if only allowing members who take classes to go to your open pole times. Do they ever bend the rule on that by chance.. Would taking a workshop suffice?

So.. assuming from the lack of responses.. am I the only one who wears wrist supports while poling? Huh… Well, I will continue my adventures in searching for some, and if I am successful then I will post my results =) If you know anyone who DOES pole with gloves or wrist wraps please ask them what they use! Thanks! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif

My day job is being a massage therapist https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I have a pretty strong grip, do a lot of wrist and forearm strengthening and stretching already. I have naturally weak wrists however and used to do gymnastics and I like having the support. It makes me do my tricks more carefully and with more confidence. And since I work withy hands daily, I can’t risk any injury or strain on them.

I finally did a one legged inside leg hang with a hand and elbow grip. Not the prettiest one… but one without assistance or worry that I would fall on my head https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I will post pics of my progress through the month! Please post your pics of your own!~

That article was hilarious and sooo true! I hope people won’t get mad if I "copy" their tricks. I’m so impressed and amazed by them, that I WANT to learn more! I can’t wait for the day I can do yogini or a teddy or a split grip Aysha!

OMFG! I did my first Scorpio last night! I wasn’t sure if I would be strong or coordinated enough so it was pretty exciting! Now granted I was gripping for dear life but hopefully now that I know what it feels like I can improve!
Hey Bellz, I remember you saying something about an event or showcase at your studio? When it is, and can anyone come watch?

And why not just call the studio and ask if you can come to that class and pay for it then?

It does seem very odd that you have gotten NO response.. perhaps try posting on their actual fb page instead of messaging?

Or maybe whoever checks their messages wasn’t able to help? (As in, maybe the front desk does that and not the owner?).

If not, call and ask to speak to their owner or manager, and if they aren’t available, ask them to call them and leave your number to have them call ya back! It does seem very bizarre, but I agree the online scheduling may just be a problem and oversight.

I wear pleaser shoes and boots. I normally wear a 7 or 7 1/2 in shoes (but I have wide toes) so I ordered an 8 for mine and they fit great. To me, it seems that they run kinda small. Your best bet would be to find a store in your area that carries them and at least go in and try on a few pairs. Then you will have a better idea of what size you really need. http://Www.Shoebuy.com sells pleaser and they have a free return option if they are the wrong size =) And look up coupon codes for free shipping and up to 20% off your order, I used code SUMMER.
