Hmm I might be holding my breath In that one now that I think about it. It’s the only invert I do that in though, odd! I’ll try again with the breathing and if it doesn’t help, I’m thinking I’ll just put this in my list of not for me moves :p thanks ladies!

  • I think I know who u mean (pretty sure we go to the same studio 🙂 ) and I know several people that aren’t that comfortable with her teaching style so it’s not just u. I know it’s hard but if that ever happens again, try and say something. I hate handstands too, never do them and when I do, they look hideous! Despite currently being level 7 at that studio! And the cheating with grip? In that studio in summer, I use loads of grip every time I get on the pole as it gets so sweaty the floor is actually wet! I’m not ashamed of it either and will still use it regardless of what someone else thinks, if u want to use grip, u are entitled to it. I agree that under normal conditions, we should try using less but not when it’s dangerously sweaty! She can have her opinion but you decide! Luckily they are about to get air on units though so soon it’ll get better 🙂

Chem – you’re better than me. I can’t help myself from “feeding” even though I know it’s no god…
Pamfern17433- someone who is sane and happy with their life wouldn’t go on the offensive like you did with that post about Veena regardless if they felt they had been unfairly responded to. People have had different opinions on here before but someone with any sense wouldn’t respond in the immature way you did, there are no excuses for that behaviour.

In response to the actual discussion; in my opinion people should wear what they’re comfortable wearing to pole to get grip while as SToast said; full crotch coverage and no nipples. Don’t mind a bit of booty though! I mostly go to pole at the gym and even there we don’t have a dress code. I tend to stick to a covering sports bra (as my boobs would constantly play peekaboo if I poled in an normal bra) and shorts with varying coverage but def dont mind others wearing less!

don’t compare yourself to everyone else. Your pole story is your own and has nothing to do with how fast someone else nails certain moves. We all learn differently and that’s all it makes us; different. not any better or any worse. Korinne, I feel your pain. My boobs get in the way as well, I keep wishing they’ll shrink with more pole.

I know the feeling. Last year I was working on inverted Vs at the studio with a cover teacher who told me that if I’m able to do a normal invert I should be able to do a V one (not true!). She also told me it was absolutely fine to jump up like crazy to get the move so off I went jumping and desperately trying to get into my V invert without success for a large portion of the class. After class I noticed my rib cage all the way through to my back felt like I had pulled a muscle. The next day I was going on a ski trip and skiied through the pain for a week, by the end it felt like I was being constantly stabbed in the back. Although the immediate pain eventually went away in about a month, a lesser but still persistent pain remained with me for about 8 months. Even now almost a year after, I can still feel it slightly in certain moves but not to the extent as before. As people have already said, take a long break. I didn’t and carried the pain with me for that long, not recommended.

In! Handspring from the floor is my move. I might not get it by the end of the month but will aim for it! Just started this today and managed to kick my foot on the sofa and now can’t walk properly, with such a great start it can only get better, right??

MrsNaughtyWed, I think you’re entitled to being rude even if you don’t want to. If that was me they’d done that to, I would be seriously channelling my inner bitch (and she’s mean with a bad temper) in my response to them. If she’s supposed to be a journalist, she should know better than to use someone else’s video without permission.

Absolutely ridiculous, also had to throw my 2 cents in there. Whoever wrote that clearly is not qualified to be a journalist. Also, wasn’t a smart move to try and knock a sport that has some of the most passionate people addicted to it, bet she’ll be regretting this article soon…
