I’m not sure a month is really that long in terms of gaining flexibility, I’ve been working on mine for over a year now and I’m at least twice as far away as you are. Its important not to push your muscles too far, if you overstretch them they end up getting tighter or even tear

Oh dear…. I think her butt is the only part of her that’s not moving! The Russian girl is amazing, wish I had that sort of control over my muscles!

I don’t mind helping out 😊

MemberJanuary 16, 2014 at 1:32 am in reply to: Pole dancing with a defibrillator/pacemakerI cant see it being a problem, what advice have you been given for exercise in general? As its an older device, I’m assuming 7 years old from what you’ve written, as a cardiac technician i would want to know what systems it has in place for knowing the difference between normal and abnormal fast heart rates. From the point of view of it physically ‘getting in the way’if that’s your concern i cant imagine it being a problem, the leads should be very well seated by now it may just be a bit uncomfortable to stretch your shoulder a lot if its a sub pectoral implant, if its abdominal there may be a couple of moves later on that may press against it (those moves are unvormfortable as hell asit is!) if you have the medical all clear to exercise then go for it 🙂 if it does physically get in your way its likely to be at a more intermediate -advanced level. Sorry that’s gone on forever!

I didn’t think it was compulsary, as far as I understand its a back up in case you don’t have enough money in your primary account. That was quite a few years ago though when I signed up
-
Yeah its about the poor quality, as far as I know its safe from viruses etc

My pole studio use ceiling mounts screwed into the beams which you use without the dome, sounds like that might be an option for you, not sure how much they cost though
-
Ill have to let you know on Saturday, that’s when theyre picking up the pole
-
Hi just to let you know I’ve sold the pole and they haven’t said they don’t want the mat. Ill let you know if they change their mind
-
Yeah that will be fine, I’ll let you know what happens

Yoga bricks might be quite useful if you struggle with hamstring flexibility, it may be hard to balance in a couple of stretches if you cant reach the floor like me!resistance bands or a scarf etc will help too

I had my ribs/side tattooed and stayed off pole for 6 days but that was mainly because of when they could fit me in compared to my lesson day. I tend to leave it 3 days if I can and then im careful not to have too much contact, dont want any pole burn on them!once its peeled it should be good, just remember it will still need to be moisturised quite regularly

I really want to but I have to hand in a portfolio to a random uni that I don’t go to in birmingham on the Saturday…..boo to professional registration, as if doing a degree whilst working wasn’t enough. As tempted as I am to drive down from the festival I dont think I want 2years worth of work there with me!

R poles are shipped from the UK, even their domestic shipping is quite expensive probably about $75. As an international customer you probably would get 20% off because of VAT but I dont know about customs charges etc when it arrives

I dont sweat so much but I am sooo hot during that week. I’m usually freezing, especially this time of year!
-
You also say your back flexibility is great, is that back bending? If I do a pike stretch I feel it more in my lower back than legs where my forward bend isn’t as good x
-
I have rubbish hamstrings, well legs in general when it comes to flexibility lol my favourite hamstring stretch is to kneel up with one leg out in front then lean forwards. I think in terms of frequency you can stretch every day but only do deep stretches 2-3 days a week, I usually have one day off everything as well so im fresh for my pole class on mondays

Do you have a different size pole at home? I found 50mm poles really painful in the same place so I tried a 45mm at my studio, I still get a massive callous where the worst pain was but it doesn’t hurt. Now im stronger I may try a 50mm again to see if it makes a difference but I think its probably more to do with the shape of my hands

Spines are naturally less flexible in the lumbar area because the vertebrae are a different shape, they are there to take the weight of your upper body rather than to provide mobility to the body so I guess it will be a challenging area to bend. I’ve just tried bending forwards myself and it seems like all the stuff in front of your spine gets in the way a bit, intestines tend to be packed pretty tight. Not trying to discourage you or anything but it does strike me as a challenging area to bend in the way you describe x

Yes that’s it thanks 🙂
