MemberDecember 29, 2011 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Why is Studio Veena Bias towards X-Pole?I disagree. There are countless threads on this site where members ask for recommendations on what pole to buy, and everyone offers up their opinion. I’ve seen forums where Veena shares what brand she uses and I’ve also read threads where she has mentioned other manufacturers. Furthermore, one popular brand offers a discount to SV members. If this site were truly biased towards one brand, they wouldn’t allow another manufacturer to advertise or participate in the forums here.

MemberDecember 29, 2011 at 5:29 pm in reply to: Your best/favorite pole accomplishments in 2011I’m proud of everything I’ve accomplished since beginning pole dancing in March. Every big trick or tiny dance move is an accomplishment for me, as my goals when I started dancing were to increase my strength and move with grace. My journey is slower than some, but I’m proud that I’ve stuck with it so long and that I make time to dance each week despite my rediculous work schedule. And I know I will continue to dance because my pole goals are endless. Maybe sticking with it is my greatest accomplishment? My greatest joy, which I rank higher on any list, is the support and friendship of the community I’ve found in the studio and right here on SV. I haven’t the words to express what you all mean to me, but, this community has changed me and impacted my life in immeasurable ways.
Thank you 🙂 -
Found your page, "liked" it, hope to add a photo, definitely going to order some stuff after the holidays. Fun contest!

Thanks for your support ladies 🙂
@FuzzyNavel – bright side: selling =more time for pole jams at Dawn’s. -
Thank you Veena for the vibes and Studio409 for the moral support. Hugs to you both! The anxiety I’ve felt for the last year has been replaced by gratitude. I’m so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my corner 🙂

Thank you @Paulette for the advice and @tiggertail for sharing your family experience. I’m so glad I posted about this here where everyone is so supportive. I’ve struggled with making a decision for quite a while. I think I needed to make a public acknowledgment of my fears and my reality, and this was a safe place to start. I’ve tried for quite some time to handle this on my own. Hadn’t even shared the whole truth with my husband.
I contacted a realtor and listed my business yesterday. Discussing the situation with him, with my bank, and friends and staff, as well as the feedback received here, has helped immensely. I know I’m not a failure and I have no reason to be ashamed. It’s going to be a long and difficult process, but, I’m no longer in it alone. My business has operated in my small community for 91 years. We hope to find someone in the local community who knows the history of our business and values it as much as we do…someone with an emotional attachment and the cash flow to weather the economic storm. I will take a loss but I know I did not fail. I made several updates to the property and I now feel that may have been my role in the history of the business. Rather than looking at myself as the one who failed, I’m looking at myself as the one who made it easier for someone else to succeed. My bank has agreed to help with cash flow until the time of sale, as it is imperative that we sell a “going concern”. Thanks to the community here for giving me the courage to share my burden and take the steps to move forward. I cannot tell you all how much I value the support and advice you’ve given. -
@nymph-thank you for the hug 🙂 @legend-thanks for sharing your experience. I inboxed you as well.
Thanks ladies for your comments and for helping me through a very dark day. -
Go for it! Poling for an audience is AMAZING! I went to visit a friend at the club where she works. She pulled me up on stage for the last song of the night. I was fully clothed so all I could do was a few spins and some floor work but the crowd was amazing and I danced better than I ever have just feeding off their applause. It was an amazing rush. If my husband supported it and I didn’t already work 60+ hours a week at my own business, I would definitely dance one night a week in a club.

@PoleSkivvies-
I’m interested in the aerial hoop lessons and rigging. Do you know if there’s anything available for that yet?
Side Note: I love your products and site! I’m a student of your gorgeous model Dawn Marie 🙂 -
@Paulette and @sensual –
re: the aerialarts site
I checked it out. Just signed up for beginner to see if I could get in. They send you an E-mail link to get your membership. After that, you can purchase lessons. Basic and Beginner packages for hoop and silks are $100 for 3 months. -
Omg. I absolutely know where you are coming from. I own a bar and grill and the bar down the street rips off my ideas ALL THE TIME! They have used my slogans, copied my party themes, and have attempted to imitate my signature menu items. It’s gotten to the point where it is blatant and almost a joke to them. It makes me absolutely crazy because I spent 20k on my BS in Marketing and have invested countless hours in creating menu items and promotions only for them to take all my effort and recycle it. However, everyone in town knows they do it and most people think they’re lame for stealing my hard work. Also, on the plus side (because you have to find the positive in even the most undignified behavior), it inspires me to work even harder and to be even more creative in my promotions. Furthermore, my promotions are designed to serve my niche of our tiny little market. So, while stealing them may be fun for the other bar, it may not be profitable, as they serve a different niche. As my mother says, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” As I often say, “I’ll keep taking the high road even if it’s a harder road to travel, because I know my competitor with be beneath me to break my fall.” Good Luck and Keep Creating!

I love my hips and the fact that I can do hip circles. I never thought of myself as “sexy” before I started pole dancing. Thank you, pole dancing 😉

I’m super grateful you all upload your vids anyway. I really enjoy watching them. @allthatglitters- I watched and really enjoyed your challenge video. Sorry you’ve had such trouble loading it here 🙁

Not the best, but, no way I would wait hours for something to load. Also, I never edit a video, other than cropping the beginning and end where I’m fumbling with the camera. My internet is WIFI and it is 4G.

Do you normally suffer from headaches or sinus problems? I have inner ear troubles regularly, and suffered dizziness when I began inverting. I still do from time to time but not as severe as in the beginning. If you normally have ear/nose/throat or sinus issues, inverting may take some getting used to. If it continues, or is severe, I would definitely see a doctor.

I danced to Britney’s “Circus” and had so much fun with it. Good luck!

MemberSeptember 12, 2011 at 8:18 am in reply to: An Essay Paper on Pole Fitness/Pole Dancing HELP PLEASEGreat topic! Please post the final product. Wish I could help with the definition part. Some questions I was asked when I started: where do you do that? (I live in very rural Wisconsin). Are you going to do this for a living? (People tend to not understand the fitness part of it). What does your husband/child think of that? Good luck. I know you’ll get lots of good advice here.

Yay! I have the perfect song. Now the tough part….wait for yesterday’s bruises to go away 🙂

Did it. Loved it. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

MemberAugust 15, 2011 at 9:53 pm in reply to: Help! Xpole tool broke trying to loosen joints!My new x-pole was actually twisted past the screw hole so I couldn’t get at it with the Allen wrench. I put my pole in my walk-in freezer for a couple hours and used a boiling hot towel to grip and loosen the pole. Oh. And two very strong men 😉 So, yes. The cold does help contract the x-joint. And men are usually eager to assist a damsel in pole distress. Ha!
