Check out November, 2011 chair dance challenge vids. Legend’s was super sexy. Or look at luckygirl’s floorwork vid to “Paper Planes” (my all-time fave sexy vid). Also, check out ottersocks “Naughty List” vid from last December. Those are just a few of my faves on this site. On YouTube, search “Bringing Sexy Back” and you’ll find tons of hot pole videos. Enjoy!

@JelliCrew – tracee is my FAVE! Of course her movement is gorgeous and we all wish we could dance like her. But, I think the reason her style resonates so well with me is that her movement is so honest. She does what she does because that’s who she is and her emotion translates well because it is so honest. Yes, she is a trained dancer, but her training flows because she interprets the music honestly and with her soul.
I think most of us who’ve poled for a while have felt the way you feel now. I know pole overwhelmed me and I struggled and felt very inadequate for quite a few months about a year ago. I wanted all the tricks and dancing ability of a pro. I made the common mistakes of setting high expectations for myself, trying to perfect everything, comparing myself with others, etc….
When I stepped away and really thought about it, I had to laugh at myself and my insecurities.
I’m competitive and that’s good. I try to do my best and work hard at everything I do and that’s good too. For me, pole is a hobby. I had to really think about why I started in the first place. I wanted to gain strength and improve my posture without swallowing a bunch of vitamins or lifting weights in a boring gym. I wanted to have fun with a workout that wouldn’t bore me to death.
For me, pole is a hobby and a workout. I want to love it, not perfect it. I want to improve, of course, but, if it ain’t workin’ it ain’t workin’ and I need to move on to something I can enjoy.
I was reminded of this recently while watching Krissykiki’s videos. That girl is having fun and loving dancing with her pole. Her videos are fun and infectious.
Like luvlee said, there’s a lot to work on in pole, a new trick every day, and we’ll never catch up. I agree with luvlee also that floorwork is tricks ’cause I’ve gotten the rug burn, sore stomach muscles, and bruises to prove it. How much fun is it that whatever we choose to work on, we will always get a great workout, we will never be bored, we will always improve, and there will always be something new to learn? It’s your workout and your dance, do what makes you happy 🙂 -
Lush – I lmao at the “sending my mom a gift” remark. I was thinking the same thing. My mother worked for the District Attorney. Not only did she have to pick her kids up at jail, she once had to issue the warrant for my brother’s arrest…the poor woman!

$610 (booze – duh, I own a bar) Would be higher but I didn’t spend time in jail since I was only 17 when I got arrested (drunk and disorderly conduct…lol!)

MemberNovember 10, 2012 at 9:15 am in reply to: Sooo…I wanna Platinum Stages Extreme Multi-Piece Super Pole.I have the PS Multi-Piece Brass and a chrome X-Pert. I have used a PS Stainless at my dance studio and a TG X-Pert at a friends home.
The PS Multi-Piece is by far my favorite pole. Here are the bullet points:*everything you’ve read about both X-Pole and PS is true.
*X-Joints slip and their poles get stuck (even the new ones). Fixing stuck joints is a very difficult process and, in my case, damaged the pole.
*PS poles are difficult to put together the first time. The threads are a mess.
I dealt with this problem by using a wire brush and a lot of elbow grease to thoroughly clean the threads and remove metal filings. It was a pain and it took about an hour.
*Now, the threads move easily, and I move the pole all the time with ease.
*Between the two, I consider the PS the easiest pole to use and also the most stable.
*As for the plastic sleeve on the PS, tear it off, throw it away, and flip the pole to make it top-loading.
*Finish – I love my brass! If brass isn’t an interest, I would definitely choose Stainless over Chrome for a warmer climate. I don’t have enough experience with the TG to comment on that finish.
Enjoy your new pole! -
Lyme – I’ve only used chrome or TG for X-Pole, and I have the same slippery/weather-related issues most people have with chrome. Haven’t used TG enough to have an opinion. Idk if X-Pole brass is different from PS. I just know I love my brass and it works best for me.

Dang. Brass needs to be grippy. That’s why we put up with it ripping our skin off 😉 The only other thing I can think to try is Dawn dish soap. That stuff will take the film off of anything. I know there was a thread on here once upon a long time ago or maybe a vid of someone cleaning a PS Brass. She used Brasso. I’ve never been able to find that product where I live and I think that was for shining it up and I personally like a little tarnish on my pole. Goes well with my sailor’s mouth. Good luck! Hope you find something that works.

I have a PS brass. I just wipe it down with a wet cloth. The only time my brass is slippery is after I’ve used it for about an hour and gotten it all sweaty. Just plain water on a microfiber cloth and dry it with another microfiber cloth and it’s good.

echo – just posted the vid on SV.
Vdub – my new camera angle was a total fail today – the SG Ayesha was out of frame and so was our new combo. So bummed I can't post any vid from our jam cuz we worked it! Glad I got to share it with you today. Can't wait 'til next week!

echo – I’ll try to load it here Thursday. Thanks!

Loved it! The doubles stuff was very impressive. I really loved the handstand doubles stuff. Wow!

I’ve had it too. My full recovery time was a year 🙁 got it bowling of all the dumb ways to injure myself. I know it’s very painful. My hubby had to lift me up out of bed the first few days. Take care. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

^^bahahahahaha! Love it!

Omg…Runemist, I read notalwaysright for about 2 hours. I need to print some of those off to re-read when I think MY customers are misbehaving. Holy smoke!

Oh. One more giggle for everyone: I read through my teenage son’s text messages. (Please understand these are middle school students and I like to think they talk bigger than they act…hopefully I’m not too naive a mom.) So, this girl texts my son, “it’s guy hug a girl day tomorrow.” My son texts back, “it’s also ‘innapropriate touch’ Tuesday. So don’t get mad if I grab your butt when I hug you.” Made me lol!

In my dreams I do the splits 🙂

Thank you all for the giggles! I shared the dog-shaming with my son. We laughed and laughed. Thanks everyone 🙂

@Eva X – in my humble opinion, critique is advice and is available for those who seek it. At my level, I don’t consider myself qualified to give a lot of advice on a particular move or dance style. Further, I don’t support CRITICISM, but, rather, critique, again, for those who seek it. I merely shared the link for those polers who wish for professional advice to improve their performance or prepare for competition. I post my videos here to share my progress. I’m older and pole as a hobby, not for a living. While I may perform for friends, I will never compete, and this is a welcome place for me to receive feedback from polers who have followed my progress and pole for fun and fitness as I do. I’m sure if you ask for advice, you will find many here who can help you, but, many of us here post here because it is a warm and welcoming environment, and a safe place to share with others at our level who share our passion for pole. Happy poling!
