yes it is easy! i just got this too…. you do NOT need to take your pole apart! there is a part of the ring that snaps on and off, and there is a rubber-ended screw that tightens the unit against the pole. they are also very bright. i love mine and am so glad i bought it! i'll be reviewing the lights on my blog soon and i'll post the link here. 🙂

oh wow – usually I recognize her but in this one I didn't. thanks!

about the flip – i was just looking at it on their website and you can also buy a wide-angle lens from the same company for $49.99
-
just curious – did you measure how far from the ground you were when you started? what exactly is an "absolute unflexible stage"?
it would be hard for anyone to say for sure where you're "supposed" to be since everyone's body is different and everyone goes about stretching in a different way. there's really no way to compare because there are just so many factors.
but i say, any improvement at all is worth it! 😀 it is definitely a slow and painful process, so congrats on your progress and good luck with your splits!

thanks for the help everyone!
cocoa0 – the cross knee bridge reminded me of a similar move I just discovered again called the rainbow: http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/289/rainbow/ …the bridge looks a little too similar to the ckr and i want to separate them with the drama queen, but i think i can make the rainbow look a little extra different if I bend the extended leg a little… ckr, drama queen, rainbow seems to fit the music the best.
englann86 – here's the drama queen: http://poledancedictionary.com/moves/68/drama-queen/
thanks again for the advice! 😀

MemberAugust 7, 2011 at 1:42 pm in reply to: Pole Dancers: the most civilized people on earth?I think part of it too is that so many members here are frequent users of the site – I feel like once someone finds StudioVeena, they'll probably stick around because of all of the things mentioned above (on top of all of the amazingly helpful vids, tips, lessons, etc.). I know as soon as I found SV, I became immediately addicted and now I'm on here all the time! And that was when I was a beginner and didn't know very much about pole dancing. Even then I never felt like I was asking a dumb question when I posted on the forum, which was really pleasantly surprising. It really does feel like a community unlike any other forum I have seen. I love how present Veena is and how supportive we all are of each other. I don't think you'll have any problem with the community continuing to grow – this is a wonderful, unique resource that i will continue to use at least as long as I am pole dancing, and I think we all appreciate everything you do for us and the site. I don't know what I'd do without SV! 🙂

(I love all of your lessons too!)

That is really a shame though that that happened to you. It's probably true that she was in the circus – she says in an interview she started in the circus at a young age and that's how she came to the US. Apparently she worked with Cirque du Soleil for a while. Here's the link to the interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me9nezJIKNk&feature=related

wow. I youtubed her name and "pole dance" and the video I got was pretty dirty – at one point she stuck the heel of her shoe in her mouth and started sucking on it….gross.

I met Felix Cane briefly last fall at a competition where she judged and gave a guest performance – I hadn't even been poling for very long but she has been my idol since before I even started classes! I totally know where you're coming from – she was taking pictures with a bunch of people and I really wanted to get one, but I didn't want to barge into the group. I ended up waiting a lot longer than I probably needed to for other people to finish talking and taking pictures because I was so nervous. My boyfriend was with me and he finally convinced me to just go up to her and get the picture. I really wanted to introduce myself better and tell her what a great performance she gave but everything felt so rushed and I was a little chicken. It was the coolest thing though and definitely one of the highlights of my year! 🙂

I personally can't wait for a routine builder, but I hear the pole dictionary has that in the works and it might come out in a couple months!

How do I protect pole?sorry, I might just be ignorant but I've never heard of anyone doing this… is there a special significance behind the bangle being permanent? it sounds really inconvenient not to be able to remove it, especially if it's really painful to get on in the first place

hahaha ewwww….
but that's still really cool! I've always wanted to try silks… 🙂

I struggled with this one quite a bit too. What finally helped me to tip back was when someone said to drop my head. When you get to the tuck position, tilt your head back (your hips should follow) and look at the wall behind you. As you do so, straighten your arms and extend your legs. Keep your legs straight and your toes pointed if you can; for some reason I find that certain moves feel more stable when I have some tension in my body, and it's good for practicing form. If you're tilting your head but still aren't getting it, make sure you're not just bending your neck; dropping your head should help your hips move up towards the pole – think of yourself as a seesaw. Also make sure you're straightening your arms as you lean back – when I was learning it this was the scariest part because I was afraid of slipping, but really helps to get your hips up.
I know how frustrating it can be when you know you have enough strength to do a move and it's just not working. I hope this helps – let me know when you get it! 🙂

And I've tried arnica gel (I also have Arnicare) too – for some reason I don't really seem to notice much difference whether I use it or not…maybe I just need to keep trying because it seems like everyone is in love with it!

When that one woman said something like, they don't have to be working out on a stripper pole – you can take your children to a playground instead, it made me want to howl at how ridiculous her points were. Seriously? One of the other women had just made the point that you also find poles on playgrounds. So as long as a pole is in a certain location, THAT's what determines whether or not playing on it is okay???
Pure ignorance.
