If you guys haven’t tried Foxy Kleen it is worth looking into. I’ve been using it in a lot of my XPERT trainings and at pole competitions and it cleans and smells great! I also use it to clean my yoga mats and freshen up my dance bag and body after a good, sweaty workout. Here’s the site http://www.foxykleen.com if you want to check it out.

    Jane –

I have the XStage Lite and I LOVE IT!! It's a heavy duty pole and is much better than the PS one. I have had trouble with the PS stand alone, but the XStage has been great. I highly recommend it! I have used it twice so far for events (Daily Buzz TV Show and Nude Nite) and I am very satisfied with my purchase!

Rena: Lian Tal is NOT a pro. She competed in the first USPDF comp back in 2009, but unfortunately fell during her optional round and did not place.

Wearing thick sweatpants with knee high socks helps decrease the pain associated with floor work when practicing over and over….When you are kneeling on the floor, try to place the SIDE of your knee/leg on the floor and not your knee DIRECTLY.  A lot of students think they have to place their knee caps on the floor as they crawl, pose, perform hip circles/body rolls, etc. Placing the side of your leg and knee on the floor will reduce the amount of stress on the knee joint, and cause less pain and bruising. If you are going to practice floor work for more than a few minutes, I would highly recommend wearing thick sweatpants with socks! When you perform a dance and only do floor work for a few minutes, nix the sweatpants obviously….I hope this helps, because it has helped me and my students out tremendously!!

@Little C – Neither Rebecca Starr nor Natasha Wang were guaranteed a spot in the National Comp this year just because they won at the Regional Comps. USPDF had to change the rules this time, and EVERY PRO had to resubmit a video in order to be considered. There were 18 "Pros" but only 12 spots available, so USPDF sent us all an email stating if we wanted to compete at Nationals, we ALL had to resubmit a video. As the pool of Pros grows, USPDF said they will hold more competitions since they are only accepting 12 competitors in the National Comp. Just wanted to clear that up….Can't wait to see everyone there!!

@Nymph – I ordered them the day they were released for purchase (the 28th I think I ordered them). Hopefully the postman didn't take your package!!

I also wanted to add that  all of the demos of the stretches/exercises are performed by Amy Guion, manager of BeSpun and 2010 USPDF Amateur competitor. The voice over is also done by Amy, but there are clips of Leigh Ann in all her glory demonstrating examples of moves on and off the pole that the exercises/stretches help to improve. Amy has a BA in natural sciences with emphasis on anatomy, kinesiology, exercise science and nutrition, so she tells you the scientific names of the muscles as well as the muscle names in simple terms. Amy notes where to watch your form and give you tips and suggestions for the amount of reps/length of time spent on stretches and exercises. I felt this series was very thorough and highly educational.

I received these 3 DVDs about a week ago. They are filled with excellent stretches and exercises  specifically designed for pole dancers of all levels. They also give you alternatives to the exercises and stretches depending on your level. One cool thing I liked about the DVDs is that they are split into two sections: A quick run through of the individual exercises/stretches, how to do them, what muscle groups they work, and specifically how they will help improve your pole skills, flexibility and strength. The other section is an actual follow along, so you can do the exercises and stretches with their counts as if you were doing it in a class. I highly recommend this series for any one that is serious about improving their strength, flexibility and pole skills! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

July 27, 2010 at 7:50 pm in reply to: itac2

Fawnia gave me the iTac sample she had gotten at the pole convention, when I did a lesson with her in Vegas last month. Now, I don’t know which level it was, and I do not have sweaty hands and normally don’t use grip aid at all (unless I’m working on a new hold and am scared of falling.) The iTac worked well for a few minutes–we were working on true grip cartwheel mount. But all of a sudden, it went from tacky to greasy. Like, slick and greasy. I almost slid out of a cartwheel. I had to wash my hands and the pole to get it off.
Has anyone else had this experience? Did I do something wrong? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
Also have to say, the smell was awful.

The one time I really ever FELL off the pole was when I was using iTac. I bought it from BeSpun a couple of years ago and thought it would be great. When I got home, I applied just a tiny bit to my hands and then went to try a Reverse Grab. I slipped right off the pole and flew into my couch! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif I have not used the stuff since! They started selling it at the studio I teach at here, but I don’t let students who use the grip share the pole with me since it takes a lot of alcohol and elbow grease to remove it from the pole! Even the tiniest bit of this stuff on the pole messes me up!

Angel is absolutely right about this DVD. If you are not flexible or advanced enough with your grip and momentum control, then you are not ready for this DVD. Out of all of the Pole Instructional DVDs that I own, I must admit that the production quality of JK’s DVD is the poorest. I still love the DVD though, and hope to be able to do all of her moves one day! Like Angel said, there are a few moves that are possible, but there are a lot of them that seem impossible! I almost feel as if this DVD is on the level of Pantera’s DVD, where you just want to watch it for the awesomeness, but not necessarily be able to mimmic all of the tricks.

The owner of this studio has contacted me about helping her learn more advanced moves to teach the students. She has had a lot of drama going on with her daughter recently and has not contacted me since. The owner told me that she had her poles made by a welder and that they are not Platinum Stages or X Pole Brand. I have not been there to see how the poles are myself, but I am always a little weary about poles not purchased from a reputable seller.

I teach pole dancing classes in Orlando at a studio called Vixen Fitness. Here is the studio link if you are interested in coming down for some lessons:

March 28, 2010 at 2:47 pm in reply to: Leg contortion – Back splits, stag, twisted ballerina…

When I took Alethea’s Sexy Flexy workshop over the USPDF weekend, and I asked her about this stretch. She informed me that it was the flexibility of the HIP FLEXORS and showed me how to stretch it to make my back leg come up to my head like Jenynes:

    https://www.studioveena.comhttp&#58://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b55/AllieGatorUF/People/25515_375997649890_186828294890_376.jpg

She learned how in her contortion classes with Stephanie Abrams. As with any flexibility stretching, it takes time and with this stretch, it requires a little assistance from someone else pushing your hips down towards the floor while your back leg is being pulled up. Basically, you sit on the floor with one leg in front of you bent at a 90 degree angle, and the other leg behind you. You need to have your outside hip flexor pressed down to the ground, while your leg is being pulled up. I hope this makes sense! I don’t have a picture of the positioning to perform the stretch, so if anyone does, please add it to the post!
