I've used both, ssa felt cheap, xstage feels much more stabile. Plastic may be warmer than metal, but its plastic. I thought the intro to the video was laughable as it obviously was not intended to be fully unbiased. "REAL" *rolls eyes*

Oh I bet you'll love it! I love 45's! I am going to powder coat a pipe and make an outdoor pole this summer hopefully 🙂

I've also wondered if mine is too tight, because when I spin it with my hand it goes a quarter turn and then comes back. When I do take mine down it has always left a deep mark in the carpet. I have had poles slip on me too, so its hard to know when its tight enough but not too tight. I've never taken it down to let the ceiling settle…not heard that before.

The strength and conditioning lessons here have helped me so much! I do them all the time–as well as the stretching routines/lessons. They are effective and taught safely–not all you find on youtube are safe. There is a lot of room for injury in flexibility training.

Yay! Congrats–you will LOVE those lessons too!

Congrats! How fun! Good choice on the 45!

the tuck invert is VERY tough, but such a great way to prep for the basic invert. Are you using Veena's strength routine? If you can get to where you are able to do both sets of knee tucks…those are such a great strength builder for the tuck invert and you'll be able to get your aerial invert quickly as well.

Hi Renee! You are gonna LOVE it!

SimplySweet did a really nice half jade in her last video "Eternal Flame." I think it is impressive either way, but I am biased because mine is not flat at all https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Do what you want and what makes you happy! Have fun and post your performance on here!

LOL–I should have said I move it before I pole, just have it there while I warm up off the pole! (and no kids around) I don't want anyone burning themselves https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

This is my first winter with my TG pole and it is SO much better then my chrome…I did a LOT of floor work last winter. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif I turn up the heat just a notch and put a space heater in the room about 10mins before and then during the workout. I usually have to turn them down as I get too hot eventually. I start by getting really warm wearing layers so my skin gets ready. I have also been known to place a large pot of boiling water at the bottom of the pole while doing strength moves too. I haven't needed any grip aids since getting this pole–I love it! Good luck!

I started in a studio and then got SV lessons after I felt I wasn't progressing much. I have made huge strides since starting her lessons…some things I def. had to start from scratch because I was taught incorrectly at the studio. One of my fav. things about the lessons is they focus on strength first. Once you have a bit of muscle to support the moves to come you will be SO much more successful. I always felt so discouraged at the studio cause I was relying on momentum in spins or kicking/hopping into holds. I love Veena's strength lessons and completely credit them for getting me my aerial invert and shouldermount. The lessons are a huge value for you–you get foam rolling, stretching, strength AND conditioning, and many many lessons on moves whenever you need them! You can't get that kind of conveinience or value for your $ in a studio.
Why I miss a studio–the commraderie, it help so much to have other people struggling through stuff with you and cheering on your successes. It is important to have a spotter for some adv. moves, and also someone to help point out helpful advice (this happens here with videos though).
Did you say if you have a pole at home? Once you have a home pole, if you can afford it I'd say do both, or maybe just do studio lessons a few times a month. Both are valuable, but as a beginner esp. I'd say start at home with Veena's lessons. Good luck!

Rixi–you'll have it down very soon! I'm glad this thread is happening to have the move broken down as A's vid is so fast its hard to break down…well, for me it is https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Oh wow, where to start…I think pole has honestly changed nearly every part of my life…during the course of this journey I lost a lot of excess weight (nearly 50lbs), I am more confident then I ever have been before, I have this amazing outlet for expression (it really is therapy). My marriage is better, my friendships are more honest and sincere, I have so many new wonderful friends who understand me in a way no one else can…now I work out to become a better poler! I love that…its no longer about the impending swimsuit season LOL…its about being strong and whatever the hell else I wanna bring to it! I could go on forever…I am more "me" now then I was for a very very long time. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I agree with Empy–don't let that bottom hand get too low and keep it bent/engaged so that when you do flip your hips over, you can use that bottom arm to push your upper body up and then let go once you are up in the hold. Good luck!

Wonderful!!! They came to the right door! 🙂

I am replying to follow this post as I'd LOVE an outdoor pole right off my patio! 😀 I would think if you had cemement running deep enough down it should stick…just like playgroud equipement?

This is a very interesting discussion–I lost nearly 50lbs almost 3yrs ago. I am not yet where I want to be weight wise. I have been trying to push myself harder with training. Pole 3 days/wk and workout videos on my off pole days (usually Jillian Michaels Shred or Ripped which does cardio, strength, core intervals). I was thinking of taking up running, but this def. has me wondering if that is the right step. I've platued hard where I am right now.
Minicoopergirl–keep at it! I too have 3 young kids and its doable! I can't get to gyms and such cause that always ate up too much time, but after the kids go to bed I don't do anything till the workout is done. Also I find that writing down every single calorie while neaurotic, does help SO much. Good luck!
