i think mixing up hip hop and poling would be totally awsome! i´ve seen vids o mixes of pole with salsa and tango and ballet, and i hope someday to mix it up with kizomba or tap dancing!
who knows? but first i gotta learn to pole…

im a tap dancer and when a stage is too slippery (or those old italian stages that that are built at an angle) we mop up the floor with coke to make it sticky enough to not fall off the stage. taps are really slippery and even with cats paws i´ve fallen off of stages! lol
after i have to wash off my shoes or i won´t be able to dance with them anywhere else, it´s like glue.
i would definately not use it on my pole. it would probably burn off the chrome finish and most definately rip your skin off!

sorry i totally agree with amcut on this one. afterall it is something that realy makes you happy and is already an important part of your life. you´ve already had to give up other things in your life, not fair that you´d have to give up on this too. i can understand your hubby´s point of veiw, i´m scared of the net too, but here on the site its private and you use an alias…
besides, unless your thinking of becoming a politition in the future pole dancing isn´t going to ruin your image. and even if you do make that career choice by then it will be an olympic sport and noone will even think twice about it!

you really need to warm up all your muscles before training. it really makes a big difference.
you might also try a magnesium supplement to help reduce the cramps. it´s realy good for healthy muscle function. you should get all you need from foods like nuts and seeds, beans, green vegatables and stuff like that,but sometimes when you start using your muscles more than usual you need a little extra. i usually take some that come in fizzy tablets that i dilute in my water bottle and kill two birds with one stone so to speak.
you probably should also work on gaining more abdominal strength before trying this move.hope this helps!

sounds like my problem area. ive been taking it realy slow because i´m scared to death of straining that muscle.
i will describe some of the excersises i do in fisio therapy and i use them to warm up before poling and relaxing after. i´m not very good with instructions but i hope you´ll understand these.first, shoulders and arms relaxed by you sides. scrunch your shoulders forward and then pull them behind you (boobs sticking out). do this slowly about 10 times.
next, arms relaxed by your sides, pull your shoulders up and then slowly push them down as far as they will go. remember to breath and reapeat at least 10 times.
then you can do some basic shoulder roll front and back.
then outstretch your arms to the sides (not completely, there should be a little curve at your elbows) and make small rotations to the front and back. just the arms, shoulders should be relaxed. you can use small weights for this one.
then you can do my absolute favorite, they´re always making fun of me at fisio because of this one.you can really feel your whole upper back stretching! you need on of those big yoga balls (a must have for stretching and relaxing, and if you´re naughty girl you might find some other uses for it…lol) you can do this one the floor but i prefer to put the big ball on a table against a wall. stand against the table and wrap your arms as far as you can go around the ball, arms should be slightly lower than your shoulders. press your face on the ball to one side, lift up on your tiptoes till your sort of leaning on the ball. then breath in slowly and feel the stretch! you can reajust your hands to get a tighter grip as you go, and keep alternating wich side your head is facing to get a balanced stretch on your neck. do this for 5 or 10 minutes or until your husband gets jelous and takes the ball away from you!
also you can try putting ice for 10min about 5 times a day if its very painful. although some people don´t get on well with ice and prefer heat packs, or alternating hot and cold.

i was also off the pole fore amost a year and just restarted. i´m taking it slow but am so happy to be back. feels great, doesn´t it?
just remember to always do a really good warm up and to stop if anything starts to hurt!

yeah, i know what you´re going through. i suck on the floor.
