Ah I see, that would make sense. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind (well, it’s still very possible I still am…) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif Thank you! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_king.gif

One exercise we used to do occasionally in cross country practice in high school was leg lifts. I’ve done them a few times using the pole – makes it a little easier.

This is easy so I don’t think you’ll need a video to demonstrate this: https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif but if you want to use the pole, get in the same position on the floor as mrstrone did in hers. You’re going to do the same thing – lift your legs, feet together – except only lift your feet like 6 inches off the floor and hold them there. Best to do it with a mirror so you know you’re not cheating – your body will want to move your feet higher because it’s easier. Play around with how high off the floor your feet are and where it hurts the most is where you need to be holding it.

If you don’t use the pole, just lay your hands on the floor at your sides or put them under your butt (under the butt is more comfortable for me – less stress on the tailbone). Good luck!

I’ve had soreness from really deep cuts (anywhere on my body, not just hands), but not so much from more shallow ones. Cat scratches were common when I was little and my hands would sting and maybe the skin would get a little stiff (tiny bony little hands and fingers), but that was mild. However, one time in high school during track practice we went on a run through the woods and I manged to run into a large thorn bush (don’t ask… I’m the master of random accidents). My right thigh was raked with deep scratches ranging from 3 inches to 7 inches long. I didn’t get stitches, but my whole thigh was stiff and sore for a couple days. I still had practice so the running helped to get the soreness worked out.

But while you’re waiting to heal up, try doing some stretching and stuff like that. It’ll help you a lot when you are able to pole again. You can also just practice simple transitions and dancing around the pole, too, instead of actual moves.

Oh Glitter I feel so bad for you! And I give you props for posting something so personal, but I know it’s hard when you need to get something off your chest (my rant from a few days ago is still going under the "everything else" forum…).

You said your previous partner and you were tested, but has this one been tested??? Is there a possibility you got something from him instead of the other way around? I don’t want to try to point the finger at him, I just want to help you feel better that maybe it’s not you. And even if you did have something, several STDs can be gotten in ways other than sexual contact. I got mono in college, the "kissing" disease, and I had been with the guy (my husband, now) for some time and hadn’t been messing around. But it had been going around campus so somehow I got it from someone. Stuff happens.

Is there a possibility also that you may have gotten pregnant but miscarried extremely early??? I know you’re on birth control, but so was I when I got prego for my daughter… scary idea, I know, but at least that would be a "temporary" type of thing and not really a disease… (I’m trying to be optimistic. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif )

But I hope for your sake it’s nothing major and/or just a complication of your current conditions, instead of something new and that would effect your boyfriend. But try not to sit and worry yourself – worrying won’t do anything other than make you more upset and make the wait until your appointment seem longer. Good luck and I’ll be praying for you!

I have teeny tiny hands and I use a 50mm chrome… I haven’t measured my hand, but my ring size is a 4.5, so you can imagine how small they are… I’ve had some problems with my finger joints aching when I’m warming up practicing, but I think that’s not necessarily due solely to the size of the pole. I’d rather have the 50 and get used to it then if I ever encounter a 45 it’ll seem like a walk in the park https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Lol Jungle I will… but in a couple days when my grip returns… I got some major pole-burnage from doing that praise video, too! I’ve been walking around bow-legged all day https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif But it was worth it, though, I just need some time to recover.

I love how we’re getting all technical about this glam rock – hair hand stuff https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I think the true challenge is FINDING a band and song, let alone dancing to it!

At least mine’s done, I want to do another like I keep saying, but the band/song I want to use is falling into the "maybe" category as far as whether it’s glam or hair or not… I’ll probably end up doing it anyway and post it as "Glam???" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

    AMEN to adamseve!!!!

You know what, I think I’ll make a video tonight of me doing a praise dance, too, and post it to here and YouTube.

My question is if these people are so "christian", why are they watching videos of pole dancing in the first place???

I’m Christian too and I wanted to do some pole dances to some worship music myself! I haven’t seen the vids yet, but I will… I’m sure they weren’t as bad as they made them out to be. "OMG THERE’S A POLE!!! THIS IS HERESY!!!" I honestly was thinking during the Easter service if it was possible to put my pole up on stage and do a dance, but the ceilings are rather high. Not to mention I go to a traditional Baptist church where they still use nothing but an organ for music…

I used to go to a Christian college out in western NY where (at the time) dancing was banned on campus. Yes, that meant you could not dance there – at all. It was a joke among the students that dancing made babies and that’s why it was banned https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif However, a frequent appearance in the chapel services, (chapel was 3 times a week) was a girl who did what I think they called "color guard". She was up at least once a month… She basically did interpretive dance using flags, but it was embraced as a beautiful way of expressing praise. But it was DANCING no matter what they tried to say. Substitute those flags for a pole and you’re talking the exact same thing. The college since I transferred also approved some forms of dancing, like group choreography (they did a remake of a dancing scene from Hairspray or something like that for a show).

I just can’t get over how narrow-minded people are! Pole dancing is not evil, sinful, slutty, skanky, or remotely bad in any way! The only bad thing is the source! (no offense to the club dancers once again) As a Christian I don’t approve of the idea of getting naked in front of men and causing the lustful thoughts, but I see nothing wrong with dancing and doing a performance. Yeah you can make it sexy but there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m sorry if that seems contradictory, but I’m hoping you know what I mean… in a sentence, would I go to a club and go up on stage and dance, yes; would I take my clothes off and tease the heck out of the men, no. Why can’t people just separate those things in their minds??? I bet you if I took one of those color guard flags and started humping it people wouldn’t see the flag as the source of the behavior… why can’t people see that a pole isn’t the bad thing in this equation?

As always, no offense to any of the girls that work in clubs… I really don’t want to upset any of you and I don’t see any of you as bad, I just don’t like the profession…

Ok here’s the link to my video:

    https://www.studioveena.com/video/gallery/April-Challenge-Twisted-Sister

I still cringe when I watch it… but you guys are definitely making me feel better!

I’m thinking about doing another one, but to a slower song so I can have a chance to think about what I’m actually doing a bit better and maybe my dancing will turn out better (so I like it as well as everyone else https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif ) BUT I want to learn a few new moves to throw in there. I can almost do the advanced plank… well, I can do it, but I’ve been sliding down so I’m almost on the floor and have close to no pole under me to grab https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I like the platinum color better than the gold, too… when and if I get another pole, I want one of these! I’m in the US so I’ll have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping, but maybe by the time I’m ready for another one they’ll have them here. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

No, Sascha, you’re not the only one… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I’d be soooo paranoid over something like that, or B.O., etc etc if I were double poling with someone, let alone anything that… um, "intimate"

April 12, 2009 at 7:48 pm in reply to: singing and poling??

I think it would be do-able as long as you didn’t do any major tricks because you’ll be too out of breath to sing. I love to sing too and thought that would be great, but I have a hard time singing along to the music I’m practicing to, and that’s not as if I were performing. But when you’re a beginner you’ll be more out of breath because it’s harder for you, so maybe when you can do several moves comfortably you could sing along. It’s worth a shot, I’d love to see it done! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
