I find the sitting to hurt the worst of the 3… climbing isn’t too bad, but my ceilings are so short I can’t really climb anywhere to really find out, lol!
Probably why it hurts more is because sitting uses the skin on the inside-back-ish of your thighs to grip the pole, while inverts and climbing tend to use more of the inside of your thighs and knees. The skin used for the sit is usually more sensitive than for the inverts and such. I found the inverts barely hurt me at all, even with no hands, but the sit still makes me cringe…
But yes the pain will go away with practice. And gotta love the bruises! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

I’m right-handed and made myself learn my spins with both hands right from the get-go. In the process I discovered that for some reason my left hand doesn’t sweat as much as my right hand does, so my grip is much better with my left and I tend to do all my spins lefty. I have to remind myself to do them with the right, and there’s times when I can’t do the spin as well with my right anymore!
However, I wasn’t as strict with myself about doing inverts and any moves stemming from them. I do all my inverts righty. I can invert on my left and it looks ok to watch, but it’s extremely awkward for me and I don’t feel comfortable enough doing anything beyond an inverted crucifix on that side. I also keep trying to roll off my shoulder to dismount on the floor on the same shoulder I do for the right side, but since your legs are switched, I end up kinda falling off the pole… I keep forgetting I won’t have that outside leg hooked when I’m rolling from the same shoulder!
Also, I’ve had some past injuries on my right arm that had forced me to try new things lefty. My wrist and elbow were both hurt badly at some point, and it wasn’t until I started poling that I noticed that they didn’t bother me anymore! I was amazed when I noticed I was able to straighten my right arm out all the way. I have a "loose" right wrist, too. If you watch my daily habits you notice I carry most heavy things with my left arm/hand (purses, bags, the baby, etc.) and I cut my food with a knife lefty, also. So it’s not too hard to learn things on your non-dominant side… I wash dishes at a nursing home for a living, and after a flood forced us to re-do our dishroom, we ended up moving the wash arm hose from the middle of the counter off to the left next to the dishwasher. I made myself learn to use the hose with my left hand because I would’ve had to reach across my body, grab the hose, and then have the hose running across the front of me (between me and what I was washing) in order to hold it with my right hand and use it. It was really annoying! But after a few weeks or so it felt natural.
So if you make a conscious decision to make yourself learn to use that other hand, you can do it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

It could be that you didn’t stretch it enough – that would be my bet. Especially since it was your first inverted move with no hands, your body could’ve not been used to the strain and you tensed up in random places from trying to hold on. Once you get stronger with these kind of moves (and more confident), you won’t have the death grip going on. But make sure you stretch! (I’m guilty of not stretching enough myself… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif )
However, just as a word of caution: if the pain seems odd to you in any way, like extremely sharp, doesn’t go away as fast as you think it should, etc. I would see a doctor and make sure you didn’t do anything really bad. Just make sure you stretch it good and don’t over-strain yourself and make it worse.

NAKED!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif (feet, anyway)
I can barely even walk in heels… I do some dancing in one pair of heels I bought specifically for poling, but my feet hurt after 5 minutes… I hate heels. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_silent.gif I’m a jeans, t-shirt and sneakers kinda gal and avoid wearing heels whenever possible.

Maybe you need some kind of plugin or something??? Have you been keeping your computer up to date??? That’s the first and only other thing I can think of…
I personally use Firefox and it checks for updates automatically on plugins and extensions needed to operate random things. Also other programs like the Adobe flash player, Java photo uploader, etc. should check to be updated otherwise webpages that use those functions won’t work. They should check for updates automatically… and that’s whether or not you use Internet Explorer or Firefox.
I’m not sure what the chat uses, but maybe the version of whatever it is needs to be updated (or even properly installed in the first place) on your computer… but like I said this is a stab in the dark.
It may also be your internet connection; do you use something slower like dial-up? Or maybe even have several connections or downloads going off of the same connection? Like I said, just ideas…
Maybe you could try emailing the webmaster and asking what sort of things are needed for the chat to function properly…

I’m basically just repeating what everyone else is saying, but I still wanted to add my vote: I also tend not to watch every single video when there’s several in a row by the same person. When you sit and watch them all at once, they get kinda monotonous, no matter how good they are. To be honest, I didn’t even watch all of Jungle’s videos when he went on his posting spree and I probably haven’t seen them all yet! (where’s Jungle been lately, anyway? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif ) It also tends to shuffle others’ videos off the first page causing theirs to be overlooked…
If it makes you feel any better, there have been a couple threads I’ve started that didn’t get responses at all or took like a week for someone to respond.
But I know you’re trying to play catch-up with posting the videos since you had problems getting them uploaded. But you’re still an awesome dancer and we all enjoy watching you! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Keep posting!

Oh you did see that??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I feel special now… thanks!

I’m not sure how much help I can be, but let’s see…
When I learned the gemini (and the scorpio, too) my problem was the pole burn on the inside of my thigh, not my knee… So the only thing I’m thinking of is experiment with how you’re gripping the pole and see if you can grip with your thigh more than the knee??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif But then again, everyone has different levels of pain tolerance in different parts of their bodies, so maybe you have like uber resilient thighs and I have the resilient knees! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Another thing I would try is to try to take the weight off that leg a bit, like still hold on with your hands or if you’re doing it no-handed, let your armpit take a bit more weight (but don’t fall!). Let your knee get used to the feeling of the pole and the friction, and slowly add more weight on the leg alone as it gets used to it.
Fortunately, there are usually only 2 answers to pain in pole dancing. Unfortunately, they’re not very good answers! It’s usually either the grip is wrong or it’s just a matter of sucking it up and getting used to it… lol! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif But maybe some of the other girls here have some better tips… Good Luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I think the titanium poles that Veena have available are only in the gold color, but I could be wrong… Some countries other than the US have the silver titanium ones available if you order straight from X-Pole, like I know NZ and Aussie land do… I still recommend ordering from Veena if you’re not that picky, though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I haven’t tried a titanium pole (mine is chrome) but I’ve heard the grip is better than chrome, and that the gold titanium is slightly grippier than the silver titanium (heard that from Rouge, they have quite a variety of poles at their studio). But whether or not it’s a huge difference or not, I’m not sure.
If I don’t find a cure for my super sweaty hands in the near future I’m going to be setting my sights on a titanium one, too… so I’m interested in any responses from some people who know more about this than I do, too!
Sorry I couldn’t be more help, but I would double check on the colors of the titanium ones from wherever you order from if you’re set on getting a silver titanium one instead of gold…

Oh this is off topic but yes yes yes yes YES get an X-Pole and get rid of that Electra-pole!!! That’s what I started on and it was crap after just a couple weeks of doing virtually nothing but spins!!! I’m amazed yours has lasted this long!!! I personally am not a fan of credit cards so saving is the way to go, in my opinion, so good luck and try not to hurt yourself on that POS pole in the meantime!

Put a bag together??? What bag??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif You’re starting to make me nervous about the one I’ll be going to because apparently I haven’t a clue how an amateur night works!!! Oi…
But you’ll be fine, Glitter… I know we’re all acting so nonchalant about this meanwhile you’re panicking, but that’s because we all have faith in you and know you can do it! You’re a great dancer; just pretend you’re at home alone in front of your camera and have some fun! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif You’ll do wonderfully!

I don’t know why, but I’m like super excited about this whole round-off, cartwheel difference thing… lol! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Oh go ahead and post it, Veena, you could call it the first attempts caught on tape https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif But yeah, I hate technology too… my camera runs out of memory or battery dies without warning, so there’s been several times I’ve been dancing and gone over to find out the camera shut off 5 minutes ago! Then I have to scramble to find new batteries or whatever… But I’d love to see it, true first attempts or not! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Lol cue the cheesy joke drums (you know, the bah-dunk – chink!)
I’m obviously in favor of it, so https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif
I posted this video before, but there’s a full cartwheel in it at 4:50 (near the end):

Thanks for all the tips! I’ll definitely be trying to put them to good use.
I took gymnastics for a few months when I was much younger, so the ways I do the headstands and handstands is kinda habit, but I can practice the other ways. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I should probably also note I have really short ceilings, only 7′, and I wouldn’t be able to do the caterpillar climb. I only have enough room for a caterpillar (unless I slide all the way down, then maybe I’d have room for 1 climb).
But thank you! I’ll keep these in mind! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m the opposite – more productive at night. I also find I’m more productive when I’m alone; I can’t seem to practice in front of my husband.
My day starts at 5:00 AM: wake up, get ready for work, out the door at 5:30 to be there by 6:00. I work until 2:30ish, and pick up my daughter from the sitters on the way home. I try to do my housework and such then. Dinner is usually around 6 or 6:30 (it keeps getting later and later because it’s not getting dark as soon to give me my cue to start cooking!). My daughter’s bath time is at 7:30 and she’s in bed around 8, and after going through the living room real quick to pick up the aftermath of my 18-month-old, then it’s my pole time. I usually practice for about an hour and a half or so, but that depends on several things. After I’m done, whatever time that is, I’m usually on the forums here until I either get too tired to stay awake or my husband gets home at 11:30. Even on my days off I usually end up practicing at night.

There is a unsubscribe or stop watching, this topic, portion on any email you get. Just click on that. So if you read your whole email you should see this on the bottom……
If you no longer wish to watch this topic you can either click the
"Unsubscribe topic" link found at the bottom of the topic above, or by
clicking the following link:Yeah I saw that, but I was just kinda hoping that there was one place to just unsubscribe to all of them; however the email filter thing is a good idea, I didn’t think of that. So I may just do that and that will suffice. Thanks!
And thanks about the video comment thing, I’ll be patient and I’m sure everyone else will, too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Thank you!!!

Lol yeah sorry… I felt like a real b*tch after posting that, and I thought about changing it but someone already read it! Oh well, it’s just one of those things that makes my eye twitch a bit when I see it, that’s all. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

It does look neat, and not to be picky or anything, but that’s actually a round-off… with a cartwheel you keep your legs apart and land one foot at a time, just like a real cartwheel… I’ve seen several other people make the mistake, too.
I haven’t tried it, but it’s on my list! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Lol thanks, but that was pretty straight-forward. The pics I used had plain, solid-colored backgrounds so one click of the Magic Eraser, crop to what I wanted to use, rotate or flip around, resize, and then drag onto the new image. If I had used a pic of a real person it would’ve been a little more difficult…
I’m feeling challenged now… hmmm… *opens photoshop again*
Ok I’m just editing this post to add what I just did so I don’t double post…
Not the greatest and not too much to it… I’ll probably take this down before too long before I get emails telling me they’re going to sue me for using the Wii logo or something stupid like that…
http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i81/Namara_the_Roatian/wiipole2.jpg
Once again no big deal… hardest part was the hand.

I dunno if I’ve missed this option somewhere, but is there a way to unsubscribe to all new forum posts somewhere??? I’ve been trying to make sure I’m unsubscribed to all the forums, but I’m still getting a million emails every day leaking through… is there a master turn-off somewhere, and if there isn’t, can there be???
I don’t mind the emails letting me know I have a new message in my inbox, etc. but the ones about every thread I’ve posted to are the annoying ones…
Oh and is there a way to be notified of new comments to videos that you’ve posted or if someone replies to a comment that you left on a video??? I’m always getting comments on my videos, or commented on someone else’s and they replied, but have no way of knowing without going back to the video itself and looking…
Like I said, this may be an option somewhere already that I’ve missed. Thanks!
