Oh wow, I thought I had this whole surprise thing figured out, but I was wrong! I was kinda sorta close… I guessed the lesson part, but not the whole newsletter-interview thing. Awesome job on both parts – and an especially awesome job on keeping this whole thing a secret from the rest of us! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

May I also say very nice choice for the first interview… Sascha is definitely one of the defining members of the site, at least to me. There are a few members here that I couldn’t imagine this site being without, and she’s one of them.

I will go to bed tonight fantasizing about it being my turn to star in a Veena newsletter… It probably won’t happen, so I’ll try not to get my hopes up (well, too late… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Awww this really saddens me because, Sascha, you’re the one always giving uplifting, encouraging words to the rest of us! You’re the last person I thought I would see down in the dumps https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

But what everyone else is saying is right! You’re doing this because you love it, so just remember to enjoy yourself and maybe if you not over-think it as much, you’ll do much better.

The one thing that’s sticking out in my mind right now is somewhere I read your story that went along with how you picked your stage name… You said something along the lines that Taylor couldn’t really be all dirty and sexy and all the other things that went along with your dances, but that Sascha could. I think you just need to remember to turn that "Sascha-ness" on full blast – and if you can’t make it happen at troupe practice, then turn her on when you get home and jump on the pole! You’re an amazing dancer and an amazing person, and there are so many people here that look up to you for being both of those! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

And on a personal note, I’m going to be truly honored to be sharing a stage with you next month. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Just FYI – we have a Tech Related forum for questions like these https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’ve used both my digital camera and my webcam. Digital camera has better quality. As far as which way the video is oriented, if you can set up your digital camera sideways, you can always turn/rotate the video so it’s right side up when you edit it. Give it a try, doesn’t hurt https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Awww Glitter I know exactly how you feel. I have a younger sister, too, but she’s in college right now. I’m much more conservative than she is, but we went through some of the same phases. I got a tattoo when I was 18, got my belly button pierced, and stopped there – but I got hell for both and my mom even asked me "How can you call yourself a Christian???" My sister, meanwhile, went out drinking constantly in high school, was (probably still is) a pothead, has multiple piercings: has gaged ears , snake bites, did have her eyebrow, belly button, something else on her ear, and is planning more. She got a tattoo recently, too. She also got busted for possession of MJ when she went to visit my mom, who works in a county building and had a bong in her purse that they saw on x-ray. All she ever got was a bunch of shaking heads. She’s also come home drunk on several occasions and my mom has had to take care of her and clean up after her. Me, I got a pole as a married adult and I got read the riot act. Also, I had to save up for my own laptop for college while my mom bought one twice as good for my sister when she went. She still gets school shopping trips for clothes, too, which mine stopped half way through high school. I know her bad behavior breaks my mom’s heart, but she won’t say anything to her but gives me heck for any little thing I do at the drop of a hat.

I will say this, though: my mom was a tremendous help to me when I got pregnant and was living at home during my pregnancy and the first year of my daughter’s life. She bought most of the baby stuff for me that I couldn’t afford, and even now has bought quite a bit of my daughter’s clothes (but she does it because she really likes to shop and spoil her, it’s not so much to help https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif). I used to feel neglected, but she was there when I really needed her. Even still, she let me and my husband put a trailer on part of her land so we could have our own place to live, and her and other family members are pooling their money so we can get a real driveway going up to it.

So when I look back on it, I think part of the seeming favoritism towards my sister was a) she was/is the baby of the family, it’s going to happen and b) I really didn’t need the extra attention. It was mostly me being jealous, really. I’m a very independent person, while my sister is a very dependent person – she’s very social and needs people. I just don’t, and I think maybe my mom just responded to that (whether she realized it or not). That could be the same in your case, too, I’m not sure. *shrug*

But, Glitter, maybe what you could do is just tell your mom that your feeling left out of the picture? You said yourself that you’re not necessarily wanting your mom to go crazy and buy you lots of things like your sister, but that you want to know that she will be there for you when you do need something (materially or financially). And that you would like to feel more included and spend more time with them; or, like you said, at least invited so you don’t feel like you’re being ignored. So while I don’t think you’re necessarily being too sensitive, I do think a lot of this is in your head and more from a "jealousy" kind of thing ("jealous" is a harsh word, but I mean that more in the feeling left out kind of sense as opposed to being green with envy… does that make any sense??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif ). But I think just sitting down with your mom and telling her how you feel would do wonders; at least get some of this off your chest because it’ll eat you alive it you don’t, then it will turn to feelings of resentment against your mom and sister.

You have my s/n… IM me if you want to talk or vent https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Thanks again everyone! We went to a Joan Jett and the Blackhearts concert at the racino (race track and casino… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif ) My clothes and shoes won’t be here until Monday and Tuesday, but meh, close enough. And my mom is taking me shopping for a new camera as her present to me, so I’ll be doing some more videos soon! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I’d still say get a removable pole and just leave it up. I have an X-pole and it only comes down when I clean it. Just because it’s removable doesn’t mean you need to take it up and down every time you want to use it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif And as Rouge said, after practice an X can go up and down in like 5 or 10 minutes. Point being you get the best of the "permanent" and "removable" worlds with that scenario…

I’m also just biased towards the X-Pole… lol

If you’re feeling a strain on your top/inside arm, then you might not be strong enough to be doing the reverse grab yet… Work on your chair spin first – in that spin, your outside arm is just there to hold you away from the pole, so your inside arm is holding your weight and will get stronger. Then work up to being able to do it with just the one hand entirely. Also work on doing it with lots of momentum; otherwise, when you try the reverse grab, your back will just run into the pole… been there, done that. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

But you’ll get it, just work on getting that arm stronger before you hurt it. We’re all cheering you on! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Hmmm not to be annoying, but any reason why you are going for a permanent pole? The pole area just specifically for poling is a great idea *jealous*, but could you perhaps have a removable pole in that area and still take it down if your worried about raised eyebrows??? I’m just curious… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

But I also think it depends where this space is going to be. If you’re looking at the middle of the living room or somewhere else conspicuous, I don’t think that would be a good idea. If it’s going in a spare bedroom where you could close the door or something like that, then I don’t think it would matter.

As far as the type of dancing, I think keeping the sexy out around the youngins is a good idea, especially if one of them is a step that would run back to their other parent and tell them… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

That video made me feel dumber… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rabbit.gif

I have to say I’m rather disappointed myself… I had never even heard of her before seeing this video, and I kinda wish I still haven’t heard of her! She’s a stupid bimbo, looks like her teeth are made of plastic, and I could just feel my IQ points oozing out of my ears just listening to her.

She’s the stereotype we are all trying so hard not to look like when it comes to our pole dancing and here they are using her to market a pole that might actually be of some good quality! Not to mention she kept calling it a stripper pole when they’re trying to market it as a "sport pole". https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

I’d like to think their motivations for doing this are to try to compete with the Peekaboo, Carmen Electra, etc. poles out there by using another bimbo celeb themselves; which if it works, it would be a good thing because this pole looks like it’s much better quality than the Peekaboo ones (even if it’s not as good as a regular X-Pole).

Oh you can definitely do spins on a static pole! It’s actually a good idea to learn everything on a static pole before you do anything on spinny.

Ahhhhhh thanks azzwoo! That would make sense – I’m very bad at keeping myself hydrated overall. I get them in my eyelid sometimes, too. I think I get them the most when I’m trying to sleep, lol.
