    My training routine:

Pole 3 times a week (every other day) for 1.5-2 hours, including a long warm-up.

On all days I am not poling I do 45 minutes on the elliptical trainer increasing resistance every 4 minutes, going forward and backward, and changing the incline, followed by shoulder exercises (rotator cuff strengthening, etc), and finish with deep stretching.

I take 1 day off per week usually. It is important to give your muscles some rest sot hat they can rebuild and strengthen.

I think it could make a difference in the sense that the lighting is usually poor and there are distractions around the dancer that take away from the performance but I don’t think it affects Wendy and Anna’s decision otherwise. Wendy was a stripper at one point and many (if not most) of the contestants so far have worked in clubs as well.

It’s also important to realize they might not be looking at the same things we do. Tricks are great but if you don’t have flow, you won’t be the most interesting person to watch onstage. They are trying to find a lineup of girls with skills and artistry AND different styles to keep it interesting.

    Just my thoughts https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I talked to Faith the other day and it doesn’t sound like she will be coming to New York https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I don’t know that picking the pros is that easy in the end, they have to eliminate one person! I know I would have a hard time picking!

Getting a group of us together is a good idea since there are some package deals being offered to USPDF members:

    Package #3
    Access Code: FLOORWORK
    12 x Tier 2 tickets
    Value: $780
    USPDF Membership discount 20% : $624 ( $156)

    Package #4
    Access Code: SPINNING
4 x Amateur Tickets (General Admission)
    Value: $80
    USPDF Membership discount 30%off: $56 (save $24)

So if we can get 12 people who want tickets to the pro competition and 4 who want tickets to the amateur competition, we can take advantage of the deal!

So the online amateur division is for those who didn’t compete/win at the regionals? Can anyone who competed at the regionals and didn’t acheive pro status also apply to the online amateur division for another chance for the amateur comp in March?

Yes, anyone who hasn’t competed before or didn’t place in a previous competition can apply for the amateur division.

    Empyrean,

The regionals were amateur division. The top five from each regional received pro status and are now eligible for the pro division at nationals this March(Karol, Lauren, Takeila, Gabrielle, Jessalynn from the East coast and myself, LeighAnn, Estee, Zoraya, and Faith from the West coast), plus the 4 ladies (Alethea, Sarah, Brynlyn, and Denise) who received pro status in March of this year at the inaugural competition (Jenyne cannot compete this year since she won!). That means 14 girls have pro status and only 12 can compete, so even pros need to submit videos. Karol and I are the only two who are guaranteed a spot in New York.

Anyone who has not competed at USPDF before is considered amateur as well as all the competitors that did not receive pro status at a previous USPDF competition.

Hope that clears things up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I am thankful for all of you who support, encourage, and help me and each other on the site and in life.

I am thankful that I will get to paticipate in the awesome pole jam in December!

I am thankful for my good health despite some injuries.

    HELP CASTLEOUTSIDER!!

As many of you know, Chelcie needs our help in winning an online contest to get some much needed dental work. Imagine what we could do if all the members of this incredibly supportive community voted for her a few times every day?!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Let’s help her out! I just voted about a dozen times (voting is unlimited) and it goes until December 15th. I think Chelcie doesn’t want to annoy us all by posting multiple times but I don’t mind, so I am going to try to remind everyone on the forum once a day to go vote. Whenever you have a break, or you are bored on the computer, go and submit a few votes! Here is the link:

well, it’s not that there is NO instruction, just not enough in my opinion. I know there is another thread about the DVD so maybe you should check it out and see how others felt about it.

I have watched the beginner and intermediate DVDs. They aren’t bad but don’t expect to see anything new, it’s pretty much her youtube channel on a DVD. There is not a whole lot of break down of the moves or instruction, mostly demonstration but I tend to get really technical in my explanations so maybe it’s just a difference in teaching style.

In short, there are some nice combos to watch but I don’t know how well it would teach you to do them if you don’t already know how.

Has anyone checked with Jessalynn about this? Just want to make sure it isn’t a "clients only" party since studios do invitation only parties sometimes. Maybe JC can check for us?

I am renting a car and can take as many people as I can fit in there, don’t know what kind of car it will be yet https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
