Wow! Thanks for the information on the size discrepancies with the pole. If I do order from them -but I don’t think I will; I’d rather have something spinny- I’ll definately go with the standard 2" one.

You’re right, Sissybuns, moves look that much more impressive on a spinny pole! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_compress.gif

I definately will, Charley! Although it will take me some time to quit getting motion sick from just pirouetting and swooping too much on static! LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_l.gif

I have had a D & C before, and that took me some time to heal from before I was able to resume regular activities. I didn’t pole dance then (I’m only just preparing to start) but I did bellydance which has a lot of shimmying and shaking going on, and I definately couldn’t do that for a couple of months.

As far as a hysterectomy for a growth goes, my mom had a huge fibroid that had to be removed along with her uterus. And, once she healed of course, she could actually do more than she could before the surgery. The fibroid was putting so much pressure on everything that she couldn’t do even minimal bouncing without having discomfort and needing to pee immediately, and forget flipping upside down on the monkey bars with us kids! After she healed up (and give yourself plenty of time, especially if they are cutting through your stomach) it was a shock to all of us to see her for the first time in our lives bouncing on the trampoline for as long as she wanted, doing sommersaults, and inverting on every available bar at the playground! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I hope this helps to ease your mind. Take care, and best of luck!

Thank you so much for telling me your experiences with the two poles! If it wasn’t the air temperature that made the difference, I wonder if it was the mirror finish on the Poledanzer poles? They definately look like they are more highly polished than the Aradia and the Platinum Stages brass poles. Both the stainless steel and the brass Poledanzers are really beautiful.

Oh, and I’m glad you mentioned the spinning option! I just realized that the Aradia poles are static only (at least it looks that way). I’m sure that I won’t be ready for the spinning option for quite some time, but I’d like to at least have it available for when I do want it.

This is great! I’m definately narrowing down my choices of pole finish and companies that make them. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

The website says that the poles are completely removable, but I think they are one-piece only, not multi-piece. You have to measure the height of your floor to ceiling and they cut the pole to be adjustable plus or minus 5 inches. Kind of like the Platinum Stages Superpole.

Could you tell me in what way your skin reacted better with PoleDanzer’s brass poles compared to Aradia’s?

It’s worth it to me though LOL. I love me some brass.

I take it, SissyBuns, that you dance/have danced on brass?

I emailed X-Pole today and received a reply: brass will be available in October/November sometime! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Oh, if this is true and brass is now going to be an option I will definately want one! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I’ve narrowed down my options and I’d prefer to have either brass or stainless steel, and I’ve been trying to decide between those two finishes and between companies (Platinum Stages, Pole Danzer, and Hardcore Poles). If I decide on brass and X-Pole will now offer that option, I’ll be buying from them for sure!

Does anyone use those Ped-Eggs for their hands? I just love them for my feet and, once I start forming those little "badges of honor" on my hands from pole dancing, I imagine I’ll use them on my hands too.

Wow! You guys are all so supportive here; I’m so glad I joined. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I was hesitant to post this thread about my problem with just two measly fingertips. But I’m happy I did because I’ve gained some valuable information that I will definately utilize. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_study.gif

Thank you, Solya, for the advice on using my left hand for anchoring myself and my right hand for doing the lion’s share of the work. Much appreciated! I hope your hand heals up nicely, too.

We all have limits and limitations! we all do some things better than others, enjoy some things better than others.

You are so right! I never thought of it that way before.

Veena has some good lessons on strengthening and stretching hands, pay special attention to those, to maximize your chances of success, and you can start those now while you’re watching for your pole to arrive!

I can start strengthing lessons even before I have my pole? The more I read about the lessons, the more I realize just how thoroughly Veena prepares her students as well as teaches them. I am definately sold and, if I can indeed start lessons without a pole, I will be signing up sooner rather than later! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Thanks, Polefairy! The accident was totally my own fault; I was being stupid. This is what happens when you don’t listen to adults and sit on the edge of your school desk anyway! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif What baffled the doctors was that the edge of the desk was rounded…so how did it manage to shear off my fingertips and even the bone? Freak accident.

I’ve narrowed down one of my choices: diameter. I measured one of my banisters and found sections that were the same diameter as the two pole choices and tried squeezing them with my left hand. The larger, 2" section was much more comfortable for that padless middle finger. The pressure of the post was on my palm and finger up to the first knuckle. Gripping the 1.75" section actually hurt the bone because my grip put the tip of my finger into harder, more direct contact with the post.

I’m glad I tried this because, like you Charley, was I leaning towards a smaller diameter for easier grip. There! That’s one decision made. Now for finish, type (I’m still deciding between a stage pole or a tension pole), and brand! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Thank you for your reply and encouragement, Charley! Here are some pictures of the fingers to give you the extent of the damage. It doesn’t really look that bad anymore; they’ve healed a great deal. But you can see the lack of padding on the middle finger and how much shorter it is (almost as short as my index finger) and you can see the lumpiness on the ring finger pad. I can do most things with these fingers, but for years I had to be so careful with them (and my whole hand was bandaged in a big ham fist for 3 months after the accident and I had to keep it elevated that whole time!) so after all of that I just naturally tend to favor them.

What part of your hands/fingers callus from pole dancing? If your fingertips aren’t affected by the pole’s texture, then it will end up being just personal preference as far as finish goes. But if a grippier finish will be hard on these fingertips, then I had better go with a softer, slippier finish… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif
