I've been using my Diva Cup for 3 years now, and I can't imagine ever going back to tampons. The cup is so much more comfortable inside, and moves with your body. No more discomfort from a sideways-turned tampon! And no more frantic shopping when my period catches me by surprise and I realize that I forgot to restock my purse! My cup is always with me.
Did anyone notice, though, that the first few times of use it made you have to pee after you inserted it? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
And, I had a nasty shock the first time I had to remove it. I must be built a little differently or something, because my cup didn't stay down low. Instead it migrated up as high as it could go, and does it every single time I use it. I could barely touch the bottom with my fingertips, nevermind getting a grip on it to remove it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
Needless to say, I completely freaked out. I looked online and learned that some women have this happen, and they just "bear down" like they are giving birth and the cup pushes down to within reach. So I have to give birth to my cup each and every time. LOL

MemberMay 23, 2011 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Let the bruises heal some, or keep on poling?I still bruise the top of my foot a lot because I usually climb at some point in my practises, so maybe some shoes would be a good idea…that's not cheating, is it? I feel bad enough using gloves even though I've now tried many grip aides for my hyperhydrosis and found only the gloves work consistently well for it.
I'm still searching for arnica gel in my area…but now I see that Rub A535 has come out with a formula based on arnica so I'll keep my eyes open for that. It'll be more readily available in chain stores than trying to source it in tiny, out of the way herbal stores.
For bruising from other moves, I just rotate the moves that I work on to give my body a break and that works well. It's my poor foot that suffers the most consistent bruising.

Moxie, thanks for your reply! Maybe there's hope for me to get a foot tattoo yet, if yours hasn't faded in 5 years time. I love your koi tattoo! I've been designing a koi for my foot with the tail wrapping around up to my ankle so that it looks like it's swimming as I move my foot. Just an idea I'm drawing up; I may get vines and flowers instead, we'll have to see.

For those of you that have foot tattoos: how long have you had them and how have they survived over time? I've been reading that foot tattoos fade and blur really fast and that you have to get them touched up as often as every couple of years! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I'd hate to have it fade or look bad so quickly…especially with the amount of pain that I hear is involved in tattooing such a tender area.

12 foot ceilings! Oh, I'm so jealous! I'm dreaming of the day when I can have a ceiling over 7 1/2 feet. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I'm going to start the 6 week program and hope it can work miracles for me. I'm ashamed to say that the furthest I can go into the splits just looks like I'm standing with my legs spread wide. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Like the others above, I don't use extensions either; just the A & B poles. I'd love to have higher ceilings one day so that I can double climb without having to slide down over and over. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

I've started doing strength moves on the pole during my sessions, and this has been working out great! I warm up, work on some moves and incorporate some strength building static poses in between (for example: a pole hold with my legs tucked behind me away from the pole before slowly sliding down to my knees to come out of a climb) in between spins and other moves. When I'm ready to end my workout, I do a dance to whatever song I'm most in the mood for and just enjoy doing the moves that I've already mastered so I end on a positive note. That final dance really helps me to not get frustrated over the moves that I'm struggling with; it keeps me looking forward to my next workout. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif Finally, I cool down and stretch to increase my non-existent flexibility.

@hookedonpole: Oh yes, I should have mentioned that I use my leather-soled ballet slippers on carpet. I love them! I imagine I'll still use them when we finally replace the carpets with laminate because my feet stick to laminate and I won't be able to pivot or pirouette.

Jenyne is always mesmerizing to watch and there's no performance of hers that I don't like. My favorite performance is by Candace Leigh when she competed and won Miss Pole Dance Australia 2007. Love both of those songs so much, and she turned her dance into such a show! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
In this community, the dancer I love to watch and try to emulate the most is Tracee. I love the way she moves so slowly and with such feeling and control! And I want my legs to look as sexy as hers.

Yep, I use leather soled ballet slippers and love them! I can spin on the balls of my feet, pirouette well, and the tops of my feet are exposed for climbing. Pirouetting is still better in socks, but I can't climb with them so the slippers are a perfect compromise.

I'm having the same trouble with this move. Are you supposed to use just arm and core strength to hold yourself up? Or are you supposed to squeeze with your "resting" leg against the pole to help?
I, too, can do a number of moves beyond this one as well as spins, but I just can't hold this thigh rest position for more than a second and I've been beating myself up over it ever since I started. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I have the two Polepeople DVDs and I love them! I had the first two of Jamilla's Art of Pole series and I didn't like them at all, which surprised me considering the rave reviews everybody gives that series. I much prefer the Polepeople and Vertical Dance DVDs.

For a while I was focussing hard on them and getting so frustrated that it ruined my fun. Now I do like what EVamp does: work on the move for a bit then move on whether I've made progress or not. And, at the end of my session, I'll put on a fun song and do a freestyle dance with just the moves that I'm good at so that I end on a positive note. That keeps me looking forward to poling.
Charley, I'm intrigued by your pole journal and would like to know more. What do you write in it? This sounds like something that would help.
